Yeah it is. I just replaced mine for the second time and it’s a pain. The absolute best design I’ve ever seen is in the new Honda civics. I changed my mom’s recently and you lower the glove box (easy) and the filter cap thing is right there. Took a total of 2 mins to do, whereas I just spent 15 min cussing at my ST

Having to bend the filter to put it in is HORRIBLE for the integrity of the filter. Ford made sure to make this maintenance item a hiccup for people. Shame.
You don't actually have to bend/squeeze it like shown in the end of the video, I did it 3-4 times now, it is quite hard to push it in, but I only bended it a little, some wiggling and it got in. But it definitely is a pain in the a**.

This is the worst thing in all of humanity to replace. If you have to watch this video to do it, don't. Labor cost is less than the pain and suffering associated with this job. Take it to someone like these guys.... Thank you for the video.
The oil place I took my car to said this service would cost $200 bc it was a difficult process compared to other cars. This looks simple enough to do on your own. Only reason we have to watch a video like this is because in most cars, it’s just in the glove compartment, but on focuses they had to be difficult 😭
Little update from me 😀 if you can put it back the fillter then take out the to cables with big plugs and its easyer to finish the job. And thank you for the video !!!
I was wondering why I never tried to replace the cabin air filter of our CMax and this is why. I had my wife working on it now since it was her car. I told her my hand was too big to fit.😁

Hello I fixed mine one month ago. They changed the hose and recharge it was fine for one month, from yesterday is blowing air cool just a bit cold but not as before.. so in front of the sun you don’t feel the cold air, just air but not warm.. what do you think it could be? Thanksss ford focus 2013
My ford focus had some weak AC airflow and I thought to change the cabin air filter first (thanks for the help!) although it was very over due for a new filter unfortunately this didn’t solve the weak airflow issue do you have any ideas?
@@HomeOwnerRepair I just changed my filter, and indeed unplugging those connectors made it significantly easier. They just swing out of the way, allowing the filter to line up much better with the slot.

to reinstall the plastic cover, once the part was roughly in place, I used a long flat blade screwdriver to shove the top of it into the upper slot to get it seated. getting the cover seated was the hardest part. also make sure you have a magnetized torx bit and holder.

What a pain to replace. My wife has a 2018 Focus. Compared to the air filter in my Hyundai Accent (under the glove box), this is wild.

Same I have Toyotas that take literally less than 30 seconds to do. This is absurd.
Changing out the battery is even worse. You have to take out the entire air box just to get to it.

Ford always makes a vehicle that is difficult to maintain. It was quite difficult to reach and replace.
Yeah it's a little snug getting to this one. It's not too hard to do though.
Man!! I was planning on doing this on my ford focus…but tight and cramped!!!

Good video the torque screw I used was t20 I also pulled out the white fuses harness (both). And made it a bit easier. USE KNEE PADS

If you are talking about the AC system. You may want to have a qualified AC technician test it for leaks.

Make sure the blower motor fan speeds are working correctly.

Can't those two adjacent cables be unplugged from the fuse panel in order to make more room to get the new filter in?
You might be able to. Haven't tried it.

I just took my focus to get this replaced now my AC doesn't work on the center part of the car what did they do wrong
No sure. Does it blow air at all and it just isn't warm.
