Hi ben. It is actually normal to wear baju melayu in malay weddings since it is the traditional outfit. Sometimes, ppl usually wear only the baju, not the entire set. But i would always like and appreciate to see ppl with full set of baju melayu coming to the weddings. It just shows that they are full of courtesy and the look amazing too. Btw, i wish ben n jade to have their weddings in Malaysia soon!
Yes, back in the 80s, 90s men wore proper attire which is baju melayu to weddings. Then they changed the trend & wore formal batik shirts. But nowadays men are too lazy to wear formal attire. They just wear any non formal polo shirts instead, which i found less respectful to the people who invite them. Please guys, wear formal attire to weddings & appropriately to show our respect to the invitation.
Nowadays only family members or someone related to the groom/bride wore them lol
The idea of a Malay wedding is to feed as many people as possible. It gives blessing to the bride and groom as one of the first act as a family is to feed people.

ben's wearing the baju melayu is quite good actually for the event. it just that nowadays, no one wanna wear the baju melayu completed with samping from the morning for an event that started later, and only for a while, but it still happens, esp during weekend. and love that color on you guys 🎉

Btw in Malay culture the groom and bride is treated like a King & Queen that day. Thats why you see in traditional weddings we have the Kompang (drums), the silat performance etc. Its like the whole event is to see royalty. And u can even realise the groom is dressed like a King with his Tanjak (Crown) and the keris (Distinct dagger which is a historical weapon of important warriors that is believed to even have spiritual powers in olden days)

These days, Malay weddings are not the same, I wouldn't call it 100 percent traditional. A lot of modern elements have been infused. Then again, times are changing too.
usually during wedding, groom & bride side will wearing proper traditional outfit while the guest can wearing proper casual/formal attire. But during eid, we all will wear the traditional outfit. But nowadays generation choose to wear traditional outfit especially woman/girls because it looks good in picture😆

The wedding march is actually common. In the olden days, the march can be in the whole kampung before arriving to the wedding location. It also depends if the wedding is organized by the bride's family or by the groom's family. Traditionally there would be 2 weddings: bride side first, then groom side. However there occasions where the bride's family and groom's family would organize the wedding together (share the cost and saves time too).

You know, each state wedding ceremony had different kind of foods and events. If you come to Johor, the groom needs to handsout pocket money to the siblings and families that was on wedding throne. Depends on the groom how many Ringgit they want to give.
