I thought the film was actually pretty good on the piston, crankshaft and upper cylinder considering what is escaping through the leak. Great test. Looking forward to more. Thanks for doing this Dave.
Thanks! I'll repeat the test after i get the trimmer ironed out. I want it all as even as can be and due to some changes and realizations I dont believe i can consider this result 100% valid any longer.
Lovin it👍🏻 Completely agree with your notes. Excited to see how HP2 compares! I've had great luck with Permatex motoseal but don't know if it'd be the best for super frequent teardowns. Maby punch out a stack of gaskets from some real thin fiber gasket material?
That was another thought, the factory base gasket is very restrictive which is why i pitched it. But with only 2 cyl bolts i think it may need a gasket or different sealant.
I like the temp readings. When I ran HP2 it "seemed" to run cooler. It'll be interesting to see if it really does. For what it's worth, I use Permatex Anaerobic. It's one of the few that's rated for gasoline contact.
I have a tube of 518 somewhere. I have had excellent luck with the hylomar but i think between ham hands and being old and busted the poor trimmer needs something different.
Have you ever tried permatex aviation form-a-gasket sealant liquid? you can get it on the bay 16oz pretty cheap the only issue is when they ship it to you in a sealed baggie there is leakage, I experienced this twice but it's only like i would say a half teaspoon of material leakage, if you were to use it i would suspect a thinner type gasket, i have yet to try it but seen others use it. Very interesting testing you are doing, what about the carbon build up on the screen in the muffler? or doesn't that build up happen until many hours of usage.

Another good video. I like the residual film on the piston and bottom end.
Thanks! I believe this was adequate, 50:1 was a little dry for my preference but most of us agree on that anyway.

Thanks for the info- good data!
More to come and the videos will become more concise!

Really can’t go wrong running 40:1 or 32:1, just tune for it and run non ethanol.
Little bit of spooge isn’t too bad, looks pretty decent for a full synthetic 👍 also I love those maxima mixing bottles
i may try honda and schaeffer to see if i can tell

I'll give it a shot, i think it is in the local auto parts store.
motul in all my echo equipment
Motul 800 Off Road is on the test list!
