I just want to give a shout-out to Harcroft in regards to the OG Xbox dlc. They have been working on creating these DLC installers for well over a decade now. The majority of DLC installers you see available online is a result of Harcroft’s effort in engaging the community quite early on(360 era around 07/08 iirc) to help share their dlc. Now with this new tool hopefully we can get closer to 100% in terms of the patches and DLC that have been lost to time.
Thank you very much. This means a lot to me. I added the Game Boy USA catalogue a few minutes ago and now I'm working hard on European and all the rest. I will contact to the Video Game History Foundation and other interesting sites about game documentation and preservation. I think we are in the perfect timing to do this. Years before it would be madness, years later can be too late and some things will be lost. A lot of collective work drives us to this very point and I think we have to preserve everything we can.
The first article says "hashes", which I would assume means hash numbers, not hashtags, right? Hashes are numbers that are (/aim to be) unique for any collection of bytes the hash function gets as an input, so if any byte is different, the whole hash is different as well. This is good for when you dump a game and want to make sure your disc or cartridge is not corrupted.
GameDatabase lists include both hashes (MD5, SHA1, SHA256 and SHA512) to check games, and tags (or hashtags) to know how many players games have, genre, add-ons available, embeded things on cartridges, color compatibility, languages and a lot more.
The xcat is such a big brain idea. Crawl through the volunteers’s consoles to see if there’s something to backup. It also means it can be indexed to be searchable. Impressive stuff! Also the FrogBoyColor is just what Nintendo should have made from the start. It is a known and indisputable fact that the peak form a console can have is the original gameboy advance one!😎
Are you planning on any Morph 4K testing? That is if you can get your hands on one i guess, plus de analog input modules are not yet released for sale…Thanks again for the updates!
Im excited for the linux port of BigPemu, one step closer to an Android port! So far the Windows port isnt super optimized for old pc's but im hopeful the 2012 potatoes will be able to eventually.
I mean I've had a GBA SP that were dropped down a steep gravel hill, one that was chewed by a dog (I could see that one being likely with home consoles as well), and several snapped in half from bad falls, at that point any shell is an improvement.
Hey Bob, I have a scart/component set up going to my CRT (36" D series) and PVM (20m2u) tate using the amazing gcomp scart/component auto switchers going to a tink rgb to component. Do I need any sort of signal/sync cleaning? I haven't noticed anything particular but you never know.
I don't understand the love for lightgun gameplay with anything but the Zapper, Super Scope or Guncon at home. EVERY other lightgun I used would be awful.
@@sonicdouche Disagree. Having a disc swap top hurts no one. Not having one hurts people who play ps1 backups on ps2. Maybe it would be prohibitively expensive, but I'd still like to put the word out there that some people might want one.

Thanks so much for your work.
Bob, thank you for the XCAT and Xbox DLC archiving work shoutout. It's greatly appreciated!
The BigPEmu already runs awesome on the Steam Deck using Proton so im excited to see what we get with a native build 🤙🏻 what a great emulator!

After heading to the GitHub, it seems to have both file hashes, and tagging with hashtags.
I do believe it has both.

Another great roundup Bob! Thanks for keeping it real and keeping us informed! I look forward to any upload from you man! Much love!

Rich Whitehorse always has interesting nicknames
LMAO, next time I'll call him that!
Someone on etsy will probably paint those PS2 shells. I want an Astral Blue automobile shell for my 39001

Box title: Super Metroid
Very first title screen: Metroid 3
It really is a weird thing sometimes.
Yup!
Thanks for the great recaps. I might pick up one of these PS2 shells.
I just wish they were designed for the slim as well.
DOS on MiSTer LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Yay I don't have to spend any money today.

Nope, your setup is awesome as-is :)
I think Americans got the better deal getting all the 64 Goemon vs. that PS version graphicswise.
Dick shithouse made me do a double take 🤣 like huh

Are we going to see ps2 shells with the disc swap top?
There's so many ways to run burnt games without the swap trick today that its not really neccessary anymore
@@sonicdouche For ps1 games, not really.
@@JeffreyOller I feel ya, but from a production and cost standpoint still pretty niche now that there's ODE's for the PS1.

Did I hear that correctly, did you say Dick Shithouse? 😄
403 landed on 4/03
