    I guess he had already replaced them prior to making this video. Note no error when he went through diagnostics. I have a donor 500 Series I'll be using to do this repair tomorrow. GREAT video.

    Great explanation. The only thing I would add is to buy the bumper and cliff sensors together online. I just got the cliff sensors the first time and it was the bumper sensor that was bad. When I got the together it was roughly the same price and now my Roomba is chugging away in the other room. Thanks!

      +Chris Barclay Yes the cliff sensors are wired in the same plug with the bumper sensors so you would need to make sure they are both included in the item you are purchasing

    is there a way to disable the cliff sensors? I guess my carpet is too "tall" for the roomba. tricking the sensors with a white paper only works for a few weeks until the papers get destroyed by the bumper.

    But that's all we have to do to fix the error 9 ? To remove the Bumper Sensors/Cliff Sensors and then put them back together??? Not sure if I get that...

    My roomba sensors got wet and the wires broke off, is there a way I can tape any wires together so roomba will work again, or can I remove the cliff sensors completely and disable that feature, I don't need the cliff sensors. Thx

      You can get another set of cliff sensors from eBay or Amazon, to replace them, but you cannot bypass them by completely removing them, there are of course several ways to remove them completely but then you would need to calculate the resistance needed for the roomba to "see" that cliff "are there", would need to get the correct resistors and solder them up, as there is voltage that is supplied to both the IR LEDs and the photocell LEDs

    I purchased the two new diode’s and methodicly installed them cleaning the Roomba every step along the way. After a couple hours I pushed the start button only to find the unit is doing exactly the same thing. Goes round and round then beeps 9 times. Any other suggestions?

    Dear all, you can buy the IR led and IR photo transistor parts much cheaper than in the ebay link. Check out your local electronics store for these parts and you will find that the price is 50cent per one part AT MOST.

    My Roomba 560 won't turn on at all, even with a new battery. What could be wrong with it? The same thing happened to my sister's unit. Both are only a year old.

    • @TheiRobotChannel
      @TheiRobotChannel  9 років тому

      hi, make sure the tabs that are touching the battery are clean and don't have any corrosion marks on them, and also make sure you pull the tabs up a little to have a better connection for the battery to the robot, the tabs are the metal spring like things that are located in the battery compartment, you will see them when the battery is pulled out, if that doesn't help most likely the main board has failed due to moister or water damage, let me know how things go for you so I can help you out to get the Roomba back to work

      Ok I think the problem is the motherboard then. My dog had an accident on the floor and the Roomba went over it. I cleaned it with a spray cleaner. Any idea where I can get a cheap motherboard? I'm in Ontario, Canada (online is fine too). If it's too expensive then I would rather just get a new unit or find a used one. Btw, great video! Best one I've come across on the Roomba.
