    This video is good not just for replacing bumper sensors, but also good as a tutorial to take apart the Roomba 700 series. I had been stuck disassembling my Roomba 770 until I saw this video where some of the hidden screws are.

    GENIUS! I have always done the work on my roomba. I recently aquired my Mom's roomba. She didn't take care of her roomba so well. So all the sensors are dirty and it only drives backwards! The command buttons are hard to push so I am unable to perform a diagnostic check. Wow! The things I have learned in video part 1! Thank you!

    My Roomba would not dock or see the virtual barriers. I took it apart and found a broken wire going to the front sensor on top. I repaired the wire and now all is good. Thanks for the video.

    Thank you!!! My sensors on my 600 series Roombas are dirty! I subscribed and I'm going to go through your videos to see if you show how to remove the clear plastic on the sensors, because the dirt is on the inside of the plastic. I'm guessing that once you removed it, it should just pop off. I've had my first Roomba (which I'm in the middle of disassembling) since 2012 and I have never taken it apart (except to replace the battery). Today, I installed a new side brush and later I'll buy a new replacement brush head.

    Great video. I got failure 6 al the time, because of dusted cliff sensors on the inside. With the help of your video I was able to progress to them. One can acutally disamble with a flat screwdriver the clear cap of the Cliff sensor and clean it on the inside Maybe you should show that to your audience too? I am pretty sure my issue is solved now. Let's get it togehter again! Thanks!

    I have a Roomba 761 model. Took it apart and cleaned it. THEN I found these videos. Wish I had found them before tackling the job. It would have been MUCH easier! Great videos!! I want to add something to the bumper to eliminate a lot of the issues with getting it stuck under the bed, dresser, behind the sofa etc ... I was putting up barricades, but that was ridiculous. What would be the best material and method of attaching to increase the bumper sensor height by a couple inches? I'm sure others would find this helpful as well. Thanks in advance.

    Hey this is an awesome video! Thanks for putting this together. My 770 has been working great until it kept on getting stuck under some appliances when the virtual wall's batter died. After a while, the sensor on the front bumper broke off and the 3 wires the connect to it rip apart. Now it will go back to the base on it own and will not charge. The only way I can charge the unit is by connect the power adaptor to the side of the unit. Could I kindly request that you show how the wires (black,red and white) are connected to the sensor? This would greatly help! Also do you know where is a good source to buy replacement parts in general?

    Holy hell you did that fast.
    I Wana see how long it takes you to reassemble.
    We have a lot of big dogs we clean Roomba out frequently Not to that extent but take the brush tray out clean around. This am it sounded very loud and high pitch clunky sound with it going in circles. Replaced the brushs and sweeper piece, cleaned sensors didn't test the bumpers!! Put back together and same issue.
    Almost like a gear or wheel issue.
    I wish I would have watched this video prior to reassembling. I will do the system test now.
    Are there any fixes for the roller gears or wheels if that is the issue?
    What site do you like to order parts from?
    Thank you very much for the video and your time.
    Liked the video and subbed to the channel

    Hello,
    Thanks a lot for this AWESOME video.
    I just got a used 776p and I want to make it shiny again.
    To do so, I wanna conver the trims.
    I removed both left and right one from both sides of the tray but I can't remove the one on tip of the front bumper. It seems to be screwed from underneath to the bumper and I don't wanna break it trying to pop it off if it is screwed indeed.
    Can you help me removing this specific part ? do I need to take the roomba completely apart for that ?
    Thank you by advance

    Hi, my 780 won't charge, it find the docking station, went to it, bump a few times and just moved on! I check the voltage on the contacts of the docking station and it only showing 2 volts! is this correct or it should be more. I wonder if this is the problem. This happened before but it somehow fixed itself and now it happened again. What's your suggestion? Many thanks.

    My 595 is moving the docking station around, runs over it. I have gotten no beeps but ran the test and it seams light sensors aren't working but it does slow down when heading to the wall, some times might be all on one side. I think it started after replacing the old battery with the extra long one. Now it will run close to 2 hours almost to complete out if power well into the red light. It also knocks things out of its way like end table, monster it has become

  • @MartinDratva

    Excellent video. My Roomba just got broken IR sensor (I believe), because it is ignoring the lighthouses and it can not find the charging station, event if I put it right next to it.
    I found out, that there is the diagnostic mode, I was able to get into that mode, but then was not sure how to proceed with the testing. Googling did not reveal any info.
    I was searching eBay for spare parts and found plenty of the 500/600 series IR sensors dirt cheap, but for 700 series, only the whole bumper with full sensor array seems to be available and it is much more expensive. You said, that it is the same thing on 700 series as it was on the previous models, so if I just buy that cheap one and replace it, it should just work, right? Can you confirm this? I would appreciate your input on this. Thanks.

    • @TheiRobotChannel
      @TheiRobotChannel  8 років тому

      +Martin Dratva There are several parts that are same in older models and the newer models, but the IR sensors for communication with lighthouses is not compatible, the IR sensors inside the Roomba bumper are the same parts, the left and the right sensors as well as the front cliff sensors

    • @MartinDratva
      @MartinDratva 8 років тому +1

      +TheiRobotChannel - I was actually able to fix my Roomba using the 500/600 series IR sensor. I contacted iRobot support and they told me, those are compatible, so I went ahead and bought one. After disassembling, I found out that the connector was different. When looking at it, I could not tell the difference, but it did not fit. I resoldered the new senson on old connector and (to my surprise) it works fine. :)

    Been doing searches for a Series 640 and just found this channel, go figure Google/YT.... I have a 640 that we have been able to keep it going until today. The unit does not have a on board diagnostic just a battery indicator and a red triangle indicator. The unit will run, then stop and then the Red Triangle will illuminate. I did the hard rest and runs again and repeats. Took it completely apart cleaned it good and even sprayed electrical component clean thru the wheel motors...cleaned it good. It runs a lot long now before it stops, and the red triangle comes on again. "Hazel" has been a good unit and really want to save it for I cannot afford to buy a new. Anybody..... have good/useful recommendations/suggestions on troubleshoot to figure out what may be the problem for a fix. Thank you!!!
