My wife and I just visited Nashville for a week. We got to see Luke and the band play 3 times. They quickly became our favorite band on Broadway.. Roberts western world is where they play 4 nights a week. Hard to imagine that all the talented musicians down there play for tips.. no cover charge. And they are all very talented. The best thing about Roberts is the music first, the $2.50 Pabst beer and the fried Bologna sandwiches… in that order. Can’t wait to go back.
Always go there.. some say it is a tourist trap.....so trap me! Always the best tele player...and the stand up bass guy Fick, really good. Johnny Hilland, Guthrie Trapp, JD Simo, Dan Danato….and I think even Brent Mason has played with Don Kelly. And don't forget the fried bologna sandwich....
Just saw this kid play 2 days ago. Same band, same venue. His name is Like McCreary. Best guitarist I have ever heard. He had the crowd going song after song.
I was there too. Awesome. The kid is going to be a superstar. The band is great too. Base player was in Walk the Line movie as Cash's base player.....so I was told.
This is insane, pretty sure I was there that night. Joshua Hedley played the day before or the day after. I bought a CD and it was recorded 10 years prior and has none of the songs they played that night on it lmao.

Don Kelly band is the King of cover bands on Broadway. I lived there for four years and enjoyed him and all his band very much Ricky Skaggs is in the Hall of Fame and he doesn't have any original material He made it by playing his own version of others music for years
@@dennisdopira3817 Fantastic! But... I would rather see one guy with half the skills who could write a good song/tune, than 100 guys with 10 times the skills
This guitar heaven . The guitarist in this situation is expected to blow hard every night. This is solely entertainment. That's why people flock to Robert's.

Great player but look up JD Simo wit the Don Kelly band@@DB-pt1ho
@@koolkat808hawaii JD SIMO is a freaking beast!! Check him out with Tommy Emanuel doing I get by with a little help from my friends!
@@koolkat808hawaiiJD was, in my opinion, the greatest guitarist Don Kelly ever had, hands down.
@@Dagger_323 JD blew me way. The only guitar player I filmed for the entire night. Nothing but a Tele, Deluxe Reverb and a cord.
Not since Warner Hodges have since someone rip a Tele like this in Nashville! Man alive!

Saw them last night great
Ye seen him Met Jonny Hilland with that guy so so good 1992 I think Jonny Hilland was 19..

You wanna know what I like about 'The Don Kelley Band"? Everything!
great sound. great player.
This cat, Luke McQueary is killin' it at Robert's 4 nights a week.
i think he was 17 here
Great band. Great show. Luke McQueary will be superstar.
He will never be a super star. No heart = no superstar status. Show off of cheese = zero superstar. Just watch and see if I'm right.
Luke is already great. He has IT!

It's exactly what this bar represents. A fun time.
Was it cheesy when Roy Clark recorded it and played it live? How about when Johnny Cash did the same?
