The accountancy aspect is incredibly hard but feels very unaffordable to hire someone for the role. I've also tried hiring people to take over selling at events and markets and that has been so difficult to find people wanting to work this kind of job :(

In Australia any items that influencers get needs to be declared as a cash amount as they see this as a payment. It’s become a bit of a tax minefield. I will have to do more research

Well done for admitting your own faults. These toxic work expectations are something many of us learn from working in previous environments that have that set up. Thankfully, before I started my business, I worked in a place that taught me many lessons, and I unlearned that way of working where you think everyone should have the same work ethic you have. But it's true; it's a very entrepreneurial trait.

Nawww guys, thank you so much for the shout out. Since selling all of those wax melt gift boxes we’ve decided that we really want to focus on the ‘gift market’ … including our art and stories seem to lend itself to this. People just loved the ‘whole package’ …watch this space…. 😊

Just want to mention that it's great to see Tamar come out of her shell and truly into her own, not just throughout these podcasts but dating back on the Cosy Aromas channel too. I know speaking in front of a camera can be daunting but you've really become so relaxed and natural in front of the camera it's great to see :)

There's another home fragrance channel on here that does product reviews for smaller home fragrance businesses and comments on the labels, presentation etc. I think that would be a good series to watch on here that you could do exclusively with HFA members. That way it benefits you with more content but also benefits the member by getting constructive feedback on their business as well as putting them in the spotlight

I’m mainstream and am not experiencing the same issues as yourself… however, I just know I’ve done my time lol … I need out! The thing that stops me is finances (which I know is mad). Only tiny thing i would suggest as an improvement just my personal thought is, i dislike the split screen. Feels a disconnect when i/we are used to podcasts being around a table/sat on sofas ect in one frame. It’s just me on a shoestring budget so those tips on getting the first customers and keeping them coming back, while not overspending on advertising, are what I’m listening for 👍

You are both so freakin inspirational! Although I've reduced the size of the melts I carry (at one point over 100) and I now focus on growing the skincare arm of my business, there is still so much I can learn from you. I'm waiting to have a break in my schedule to then sign up to your HFA as I'd love to hear your expertise on areas such as email flows, increasing CT and conversions. My SEO is pretty good but as you know, making a sale is so much more than ranking on google!
