Majoras Mask... No "friendship is power" no "peace will endure" no furry gods for weirdos to make strange DeviantArt for. Just Link's will to save a world that won't even remember him when the deed is done... and it was all to find his lost friend whom he never gets to see again. You watch people boast their ego's, in spite of the obvious doom over head, "the festival must go on" and in their final hours, they cower in fear and try to hide, try to make amends, try to run even. Some accept fate and death, others lose their minds, some lose loved ones before the end ever comes. Not even ghosts get proper healing, since you turn back time. Even if you play the most optimal way you can not save everyone without erasing all progress, and erasing the people you save, you must doom some to a terrible fate. I just don't think its as dark as watching a whole town/world go through stages of grief in nearly* never ending loop of 3 days... lol
I don't think Tears of the Kingdom is dark, it's just very emotional and high octane. A very well implemented high fantasy story where a knight saves a kingdom and her people.
I agree storywise (for the most part, as Link loses his arm etc) but enemy wise etc... this takes the cake. Still love MM so much and probably still my favourite Zelda game
This will become a trilogy. Has to be. Breath of the wild is blue. Also had ganon. Tears of the kingdom is Ganon. Also has Ganondorf. (Resembles demise but not demise). So the third game has to have demise as main antagonist. It's just a speculation.
Botw’s main colour is blue, with the blue champion’s garments and all of the blue Sheikah tech, which links back to wisdom, as the Sheikah were very intelligent. Totk’s main colour is green, with all the zonai energy being green and how the zonai were first found in faron is botw, as well as the clothes link starts out with in totk. This third game should then be red, with demise somehow returning ever since the master sword broke. I don’t know what will be the new game mechanic, as botw’s was the world and totk was travelling vertically, I don’t know what the third game could be. (Edit) it could be exploring the concept of the blood moon, as it is red and has never appeared in any other Zelda game and is the source of the monsters, my new theory now is that Hyrule won’t be the only area we can explore and we can explore other continents/areas, and the blood moon is the final one with demise being at the core.
@@newalebro Ganondorf is the source of all evil in TOTK and BOTW. He created the Blood Moon when he stole the Secret Stone. There is no Demise in this continuity.
Tbf Tears of the Kingdom does have dark themes with killing off an entire species, raising the undead, the gloom hands plus some of the spoilery stuff. I would say it's the 2nd darkest Zelda game (if not the darkest however MM is still a close first)

Yeah for me this was a big hook, to see that this didn't have any dark themes upon watching any TOK made me big sad
