Hello from Melbourne. I wonder if you could do a video on how to repoint ridge tiles on a roof and cover such things as whether the old pointing needs to be removed first- whether weep holes need to be installed on ridges running from the top down to the gutters etc? Thanks
To cement ridges properly you need 3 sand to 1 cement mix. Also to re do the ridges you need to take the ridges off and cut and knock off all the old cement and remove the cement from the tiles also. Then you need to re bed the ridges. NEVER put anything over the top of the cement as when the cold or frosty weather arrives the cement will just fall and crust off. And no weep holes shouldn’t be needed.
@@roofinguk Slates don't need to be cemented in with an undercloak as they don't have a camber and are extremely thin compared to tiles... That being said, all verges should be bedded , not pointed up like you have done. Your DIY repair won't last long.
@@SocialistChampagne all verges need cementing as there would be an open void which wildlife would have easy access too. Plus rain which would cause damp. The old verge lasted 20years. This will last just as long. If not longer. Again, Thankyou for your comment. 👍🏼
Bricky by trade nice clean job mate
Thankyou. 👌🏽

Looks really tidy. Is this an expensive job to do?
With scaffolding, materials and labour it does all add up. But I’d say expensive all depends on the individual’s budget.

@@SocialistChampagne Thankyou for your comment. But unfortunately I don’t think you’re skilled in this trade.
@@roofinguk When are you changing your name to DIYroofing?
