My favorite handgun. Just looks different or special from the other common magazine handguns. Why have a Colt or Beretta when I could have something unique..
The Colt was far more superior in terms or reliability and durability the Luger wasn’t a rugged gun to put it simple. Difficult to cock and finicky mags. The Germans designed a artwork of a pistol but as a combat weapon it was poor
These were their actual enemy, yet they talked about them better than most "woke" people on Twitter about their political opponents. No propaganda, no virtue-signalling, just different minds.
I like how the narrator try to tell us that the german guns are not as good as look,I suppose he cant say that the mg42 is so good that will be in use 80 years later.
Considering how poor of a state the german military is in, yeah... The MG42 had some serious flaws, the rate of fire being the biggest one. One if the first modifications done post war was a rate reducer
no military uses the MG42 Design, they do use the MG 3 though. also the Weapon is prone to massive Overheating,The MG42 is a mean machine gun, but in long drawn out battles it shows it's weakness, example you have the MG-3 today, however the M240B is a far better Machine Gun. The USA or the longest time could have went with this Machine Gun but have always decided against it, hell We went with the M249 Saw which is from Belgium and the M240B. which is replaced the M60, the M60 was a combo of Lessons from the MG-42,BAR and 30.cal Machine gun.
@@ZackMarrs556NAT0 I am personally curious because I often read that its high cyclic rate is detrimental to the mg42 and a waste of ammo. However, where do get this information from?
@@montezumasrache4090 the MG3 isnt top secret, you can easily find out it has a rate reducer for a wide variety of sources. As for the state of the german military, the have like what, less than 4 tanks? MG crews have to train with brooms that are painted black. This info is also very easy to come by
@@ZackMarrs556NAT0 and that is exactly the problem. The mg42 had a standard cadence of around 1200 rpm up to modified 1500 and theoretical 2000 rpm depending on its configuration, while your reduced mg3 has, what a surprise, circa a standard cyclic rate of 1200 rpm. There was no change, the rate of fire is exactly the same my friend. Furthermore, I am still asking where do you get the information about it being a waste of ammo? Because I can guarantee you that in the hands of an experienced gunner that is certainly not the case. And what has the state of German military to do with my question?
I noticed that they badmouthed the accuracy of the MG-42. Point in fact it had a RoF far greater than any allied MG, was thus deadlier, and contrary to this film at least as accurate if not more so than any allied heavy MG. I think they did this to keep morale up for the troops. It's easier to face an enemy weapon if you think it has flaws (even if it doesn't).
ian Chapman I thought the same thing. Fact is that MG was superior design and the sound of it going off with that rate of fire was demoralizing on its own.
The US HMG was the M2 .50cal. Carlos Hathcock did some crazy stuff with one, if you want to talk about accuracy. The MG42 ate ammo like a fat kid eats candy. That's not a good thing, and its why they immediately capped the MG3's ROF post war. No, a fast ROF doesn't save ammo. Thats not how MG's are used. Its not COD, you aren't using it as a rifle. Please show me any axis documents showing how you could run through fire from an M1917 or M1919
well the brother war could have ended 1939 - the germans where seeking for peace with britain and france, guranteeing free, democratic elections in all conquered countrys. - also retreating from frome france, belgium and poland, and offering the german army to help britain in all colonial affairs worldwide. Retreat exceptet that regions that where majorly populated by ethinic germans, like the Sudetenland or Elsas Lothringen and Austria... guess who refuesed to take the peace-offer? Britain on their fuckings Island with that warmongering churchil!
The P38 was adopted in, well, 1938. true the Luger was still floating around, but the P38 was widely distributed. After Poland was overrun, the Radom was produced and issued, and when Belgium was overrun, the Browning Hi-Power (GP35) was issued. Initially, the MP38/MP40 was only issued to NCOs in the squad. The rifleman were treated and trained to support the MGs issued to the squad. Also, on the uniforms, they seem to not have mentioned the Fallschirmjager, which used different helmets, boots, and smocks, or the Waffen SS, which used the feldgrau uniforms, but with distinct insignia difference. From my military service, it was considered kind of important if you captured a special operating unit member that he should be sent to battalion or company HQ for interrogation.
Also, by the time this film was produced, from the details I'd say mid 1943 to mid 1944, the German Army had revised its uniforms to use less materials. The jack boots were being replaced in 1942 with lace-ups. Simpler uniforms were being issues as well as camouflaged patterns. And the MP44, the first assault rifle, was coming into service.
The MG43 was reworked to 7.62 NATO and served in the German Army until about 2010. It was also the basis for the US M-60 Machinegun. The German NCO training program was adapted by the Marines after the Korean War. The US Army never adapted it until the small unit tactics of the Vietnam War showed the weakness in the Army's NCO training. I had a Drill Sergeant in Basic in 1978 who was one of the first ones trained under the Army's new system.
They slowed down the cyclic rate for better recoil/accuracy control. That and it doesn’t melt barrels as quickly. The new M-60E6 is a pretty good update and they’ve always been able to be fired if needed from the shoulder although not optimal at 20/lbs it will get lead down range
18:24 "at best, this is not a reliable safety" they missed one. The MP40 has 2 safety mechanisms. You can lock the bolt back like that, but part of the charging handle can be twisted, and it will stay locked in the forward position. Even if the safety fails, it can't fire until the bolt is pulled back, since it's an open bolt gun.
Likely. I was trained on the MG3 and even after a 20 round training belt you could not touch the barrel without the asbestos gloves. It was not glowing, but hot enough to sear flesh at touch.
I own most of these weapons, and I don't believe they will ever be outdated. They are all accurate and easy to operate and clean. Either use 9mm pistols and 7.92 for rifles and machine guns, how easy as that!
My father served under Mark Clark during the Italian Campaign. He told me that in Italy that HE as an Officer carried three firearms, one M1 Garand, one M1911A1 Pistol and one 98k Mauser. Logic being that he never knew which ammunition he would be using during the battle, OUR's or THEIR's...
Somewhat off topic, my Great Uncle Bill said that M1 Garand must have been a great rifle. As he and many US Marines were never issued them during all of their combat in the Pacific. They used the 03/17 Springfield rifle. Said the M1 Garand was the best rifle the Army ever had. He would have liked to have been issued one, just that there wasn't enough to go around to front line troops. Especially Infantry Marines like him.
@@larryspiller6633 Depends on when he fought in the Pacific? In 1934 only 75 were produce, and many of those were Test Models and the Bugs weren't worked out of the design. Production started in January 1036 at only ~100 per day until 9 January 1941. After 10 January 1941, production rate climbed to ~600 per day. By 7 December 1941, ~200,000 were produced for the US Army, USMC and US Navy. Those that did reach the Pacific, rarely got past Hawai'i. Because the US Military didn't want M1 Garands falling into Japanese hands by accident. I was told that even in the US military the Army and Marine Corps has a difference in ranks with the Marine Corps having the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. So that makes me wonder how this would apply in regards to what I previously brought up with the Wehrmacht ranks vs the ranks of Afrika Korps, SS or Gestapo.
the afrika korps were just regular wehrmacht soldiers in summer uniforms.. nothing special about them SS used different names for ranks but equivalent to army ranks and also a few ranks that didnt exist in the regular army also they just said the rank if talking to an officer etc. which is unique in the german military history until today normally you adress a higher rank with "HERR leutnat" gestapo wasnt a military branch but a part of the police they used mixed police and SS-ranks for high officers and police ranks SS got their own intelligence called "SD" or "Sicherheitsdienst" also there was an intelligence for the army called "Abwehr" or "geheime feldpolizei" (part of the MP)
correct me if i am wrong, but i remember the SS used the same insignias. for example a Heer Leutnant would use the same insignia with his SS equivalent rank Untersturmfuhrer
@@frankv8891 there are also different types. now we got the feldgendarmerie, as military police and we got the 4th SS Division, made up from the german police (ordnungspolizei). they used modified police insignia and ranks but didnt act as military police. on the other hand we have the "sipo" (sicherheitspolizei) which was the second branche of german police, including gestapo and kriminalpolizei. the sipo worked together with the SD-einsatzgruppen. they also didnt have anything to do with the military police.

Calico Jack the m36 is the iconic heer uniform 4 pockets with the little flaps in the middle called "pleats" and bottle green collars, the m37 is the SS favorite, solid field grey, top two pockets have "pleats". Bottom two don't.
@Audairevonetta Here I thought these were historical artifacts, documents and propaganda from an earlier era, not rhetoric of a modern day Political body, huh, guess conservatives really don't like change. Terrible pistol to keep clean in combat.
The Colt was far more superior in terms or reliability and durability the Luger wasn’t a rugged gun to put it simple. Difficult to cock and finicky mags. The Germans designed a artwork of a pistol but as a combat weapon it was poor

So glad I have this video to keep me prepped for the frontlines. Thanks US government for helping me in this great struggle
The ammo thing is certainly a big flaw, no?
@FPS Biomüll Explain?
Not really. A high RoF can actually save ammo. Fact is the MG-42 was simply better than any allied heavy MG out there.

Respected Sir, Were You A WW2 Soldier?
I had a Drill Sergeant in Basic in 1978 who was one of the first ones trained under the Army's new system.
used it, its a mean gun & very easy to use..we had every 5th bullet tracer back then
They slowed down the cyclic rate for better recoil/accuracy control. That and it doesn’t melt barrels as quickly. The new M-60E6 is a pretty good update and they’ve always been able to be fired if needed from the shoulder although not optimal at 20/lbs it will get lead down range
This film is so inaccurate. Where are the lesbian one armed black German snipers? Pfffft.
Yup, no shieldmaidens with lots of dark eye make up and impossibly heavy swords for their musculature either.

@@larryspiller6633
Depends on when he fought in the Pacific? In 1934 only 75 were produce, and many of those were Test Models and the Bugs weren't worked out of the design. Production started in January 1036 at only ~100 per day until 9 January 1941. After 10 January 1941, production rate climbed to ~600 per day. By 7 December 1941, ~200,000 were produced for the US Army, USMC and US Navy. Those that did reach the Pacific, rarely got past Hawai'i. Because the US Military didn't want M1 Garands falling into Japanese hands by accident. One of my Father's brothers fought at Guadalcanal in August 1942, and was issued an M1 Garand and was lucky to get one...

What a weird way to start a Star Wars movie.
On all those uniform insignias and edging as shown did that apply only to all German Regular army or Wehrmacht troops or did it also apply the same way to other Afrika Korps SS or Gestapo if these entities operated on the same exact Rank system. I was told that even in the US military the Army and Marine Corps has a difference in ranks with the Marine Corps having the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. So that makes me wonder how this would apply in regards to what I previously brought up with the Wehrmacht ranks vs the ranks of Afrika Korps, SS or Gestapo.
the afrika korps were just regular wehrmacht soldiers in summer uniforms.. nothing special about them
SS used different names for ranks but equivalent to army ranks and also a few ranks that didnt exist in the regular army
also they just said the rank if talking to an officer etc. which is unique in the german military history until today
normally you adress a higher rank with "HERR leutnat"
gestapo wasnt a military branch but a part of the police
they used mixed police and SS-ranks for high officers and police ranks
SS got their own intelligence called "SD" or "Sicherheitsdienst"
also there was an intelligence for the army called "Abwehr" or "geheime feldpolizei" (part of the MP)
correct me if i am wrong, but i remember the SS used the same insignias. for example a Heer Leutnant would use the same insignia with his SS equivalent rank Untersturmfuhrer
@@Abensberg army police : Feldgendarmen ( kettenhunde....)
@@frankv8891 there are also different types.
now we got the feldgendarmerie, as military police
and we got the 4th SS Division, made up from the german police (ordnungspolizei).
they used modified police insignia and ranks but didnt act as military police.
on the other hand we have the "sipo" (sicherheitspolizei) which was the second branche of german police, including gestapo and kriminalpolizei.
the sipo worked together with the SD-einsatzgruppen. they also didnt have anything to do with the military police.

Pink color identifies a tanker
You get the most badass job and the most gay color identify you 🙃
In the Soviet and Russian armies, the tanks are so crammed inside that the tankmen are usually no taller than 165 cm. So, tankmen are not really that imposing without their toys. ;)
