In today’s video, Rob and I do a fish trap 1v1 at the abandoned pond to see who can catch more MONSTER aquarium fish! We used the abandoned boats to place our monster fish traps, which was pretty scary knowing there was alligators around… We also used the cast net while the traps were sitting and ended up catching catfish, and PIRANHAS! When it was time to check our traps to see who won, we found some CRAZY fish and tons of turtles in our traps! Should we do a rematch?

Can I suggest putting a floating device on the end of your trap ropes so you know where they are at all times in deep or shallow water. A plastic milk jug would do the job.
Yes! Totally! Just use some cheap fishing line and a water bottle.
At a garage sale an old boat float.
Actually the proper way to trap in Florida is you are allowed to trap recreational with your fishing permit for the type of water you are trapping, fresh or salt you need the permit for the one you are fishing/trapping. That said, you must tie it off with a proper sealed float and you must label the float with your name and same address that's attached to your fishing permit. If someone finds they are required by law to return trap to you. If stolen and found is an actual crime punishing by possible jail time, huge fines none the less. This keeps you legal as a trapper but you cannot use over a certain amount of traps or you then have to purchase a commercial trapping permit. Hope this helps guys great content as always!!! As a person who's done cat fish juggin line on a jug with stink bait dose wonders they should set wm out for catfish ect it's fun to wait for the jugs to start bobbing
Considering all the turtles you caught, and the possibility that you also caught piranhas, you and/or Rob ought to consider reaching out to the zoology dept. at the nearest university, or to the closest large zoo. They might be interested in rescuing the turtles for relocation, and verifying the piranhas. 😁 They also might consider relocating some of the other native species, if that pond is endangered. You might be rewarded. 😁 Then we'll all get to call you the Eco Warriors! 😁😜😂

Can't the turtles be located? Some of them are total aquatics and need the water. Some of the ones you caught were Florida natives. Check with Florida Fish and Game.

Im 45 years old going on 17 😅 and enjoy watching yours and Robs channels. I live in NW Arkansas, so we don't have the cool exotics ya'll catch.. but i still hit my local creeks with minnow traps and nets! Lol. Sunfish, Darters, Salamanders, Bluegill, Turtles, Bass, etc. are what i usually catch. Still so fun though. Keep up the great content fellas!

Secret time....im a 42 year old woman. Bought a small trap and tried to see what was in my farm pond. Because of low water when I went to place the trap....i sunk to my thighs in pond mud....all my might to get out of that mess. But am I still sore!!!! All to catch nothing and a cow get ahold of the trap and rip apart. Good ol' KY.

edit: Bobby, you just added a Leporinus to your pond. It is an aggressive fish that does not play well with others. If it can fit something in it's mouth, that is lunch. The fish you have is full grown, they only get about a foot long. It is from the Amazon.
Its mouth is quite small tho.

Good haul, that black and yellow fish is a Banded Leporinus. Be warned, they are notorious fin nippers, the teeth can do some serious damage to other fish.

Those traps are bizarrely huge!!! I love the 1 V 1 net traps. You should do one where you both build your own, use the same bait and same spot! There were piranha in there!?! GNARL SAUUUCE!!!
Excellent video guys! Love your videos. Can I suggest if Bobby is Butters than Rob needs to be called Zippy (due to the fact he forgets to zip the traps shut!) lol ! Love you guys keep up the great job guys!
If I could put my suggestion in, consider getting a GoPro, waterproof case, and setting it in your traps in a way to create more content opportunities. I don’t know if you’ve ever considered this or tried it yet but I’d be interested to see some actual underwater trap activity!

Those really do look like Red Bellied Piranhas. Makes you wonder what else could be in that pond! 'd love to see you cast a bait in there more often to see what takes it. There could be some massive fish lurking.
Those are NOT red bellied piranhas. I’ve had red bellies all my life and raised them from fry to adults.

The Striped fish is big Leporinus. In the Aquarium they are known to be massive cu**s that nibble on other fishes fins. However it has a lot to do with water parameters and space, so its not a given and I hope he will be nice in your pond

As others have said, the fish is a banded leporinus. They're a pretty food aggressive fish, and are known to wreck other fishes fins. If they're in a tank with other aggressive fish it should be fine. They're omnivorous and will eat about anything plant or fish. Very cool fish though. If you keep them well fed they can be pretty passive though.

This is wild. Most species of piranha are herbivores (like Pacu for the most part). These dudes obviously are not! Crazy. Also, Bobby you being bad at throwing the cast net is brand new information to me? LOL

Glad to see you finally have some good real traps but you should really put a floating thing at the end of the line when put it in so far out, makes it lots easier to find it! I like it more when you guys team up, especially at ponds like this that is about to disappear, and you do need to save as many fish as possible! Go back and do it right!!

I don’t think they are piranhas. If they are they would be all over that chicken.
@Memphis5880 you really have to look at the underbite. Pacu do have teeth, but they are more for crushing. Those teeth were straight points like razors. Seriously just Google pacu vs piranha.
That’s a Black Banded Leporinus. I used to have one and I had it with my Koi. Wasn’t a good idea. I would move him to another pond.

I'm glad to see the amount of support the guys are getting! Bobby's transition into the commercial was hilarious, and his presentation of the Fishing Clash app (probably prepared by the app creators) was spot on. Almost made me download it. I'm sure I'll get "hooked" into it in the future if Bobby and Rob keep advertising it!

piranha are super illegal in all the states as far as im aware. my dad has some insane stories growing up in a less than savory home and one of their things was a tank full of piranhas. so sketch. glad you guys were able to identify then before bringing them home cause thats SCARY!
Could you do a fishtrap with a go pro strapped/cable tied to it? The footage would be interesting to watch the fish going in the trap.
