As a Welsh fan ive been really impressed by SA fans in the last few years. I'm not gonna lie a few years ago it was super toxic and unpleasant but I have huge respect for how Bok fans have become alot more humble and respectful and proved that they are a class act just like their team. Never judge fans by internet comments. The most opinionated, strident individuals always come to the fore. There are one-eyed fools everywhere. I wouldn't even judge anyone by one-eyed hot-headed comments about sports teams anyway. I love losing my head and hating on refs myself. Sometimes when watching a match I feel like dousing the oppo fans in boiling oil, especially the Froggies. But it's just a release valve though, and as long as you understand that you're indulging in emotion porn and vicarious battle and your opinions are entirely subjective, there's no harm. Without the emotional investment winning wouldn't be such a buzz.

He looks great ... but he needs to come through that barrier second year in top level rugby with the same shine. That's the real challenge for all young stars. Analysts at this level will find even your smallest weakness and exploit it, so how quickly a player adapts is key. Roos is a perfect recent example ... it's taken him a year or two longer to make those adjustments than expected, and already there were questions starting to be asked. Thankfully he seems back on track again.

    • @davesmith826

We struggle because they play an almost identical system to ours - or at least did for many years. This is the same system that England adopted in the World Cup semi, and we all know how that turned out. I expect another tight game determined by fine margins. I don't think we'll see the influence of Brown and a new attacking philosophy for some time - it wouldn't even be wise to reveal our hand so early in the World Cup cycle.

Hi Tim People need to understand this is just a first of a whole list of upcoming games and whom Rassie picks now might not play the next game. In the end Rassie will test everyone of his call ups so Masuku will get his turn and as far as Manie is concerned is Rassie knows how he plays now he needs to test the younger flyhalves. As South Africans we should just be grateful we can start building towards 2027 so early. So much young talent putting their hands up I think Rassie might be able to send 2 teams to the next WC.

Maybe we'll have Masuku for the Currie Cup if Jordan plays well. It would be tough to have neither for the Currie Cup haha.

Rassie said that the Stormers players had effectively only been practicing with the team for two days when the team was picked. That may have influenced the fly half decision, I think.

Great show - thanks Tim. Let’s hope they play good rugby and don’t go in too gung-ho or take it lightly! There’s no guarantee of the result and I’d hate it if they went in just assuming they will win!

6:44 Nope, I thought Masuku would start to be fair.
This is a nice blend from Rassie of experienced plus new blood. Remember number of these guys play in Japan so need game time before Ireland test.
The crazy thing for me is the players that aren’t available and still to add to this bunch:
Siya, Libbok, Am, Pollard, lood Wiese, Kitchoff, Arendse, Willemse, Moodie

@@lmarislmarislmaris4271 Evan Roos used to be a penalty / card magnet, but has tightened up his game in the last year or so. He also gets less cards than Wiese and even Esterhuizen has sat out 11 odd weeks for two red cards.
Support the team, boet, even if you don't like the player. We have to trust Rassie knows what he is doing - after all I think we can say he has proven himself so far lol.

Looking forward to watching some of the new faces play at Twickenham this weekend. PSDT captain is great news, what a player!
Wales have in the past been a bogey team for us taking us close in World cups but feeling confident that this weekend they going to perhaps has a cricket score posted against them.
Fiji Ba Ba’s is going to be good as well.

The Springboks are stacked in every position, with amazing depth. I dont think there was ever a time were the boks had this influx of talented players all at the same time. The boks can have 3 squads with all world class players easy. What a job for Rassie when he has all the players available and fit. 🇿🇦

Remember Japan! As a South African Bok supporter I am always fearful of over confidence and Gatland is a wily bastard I love. The Boks have a great team, but they are changing their game and it takes a bit of time to perfect. On paper we have the upper hand. Let us just respect Wales as well.

I know that SA has had the better of Wales in the last few games but certainly Wales, and also England to a certain extent, are teams that could both beat the Boks on a given day simply because they play a similar style -- tough forwards and solid backs. All good on defence. Hopefully the mix of youth and experience of the Boks will be good enough to come out on top come Saturday.
