Angela was a good actress for sure. Also a warm and interesting person. However I notice that her acting got more hammy from the late 60s onwards. I wonder if this was the influence Broadway had on her? In her early films in the 40s to about The Manchurian Candidate, she was understated and fairly natural, then she went to Broadway in Mame etc and her film and TV performances suddenly got very large. Still, she was great.
Do you have any examples of this? I've never noticed it but I wonder if she was a bit more hammy for things aimed at children like Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Ms Santa Claus etc
Thanks for this. Obviously rare. I don't think I've ever heard Angela Lansbury talk so IN DEPTH about Gypsy before.
Why aren’t there anymore comments ?????angel is the most incredible actress of the 20 and 21st century!!!!!
Such a great actress! Missing her.
adored her in Something for Everyone, which is seldom mentioned much in general.
I love the Death on the Nile poster. She was such a hoot in that movie.
Gee, I wonder how that Sweeney Todd" she talks about worked out.
I believe she got a Tony for the role...

@Gelpenbob Murder she wrote, Death on the nile for two exanples
She leaned toward more character roles later but she was still quite capable of bringing truth and warmth to any role
