You clearly missed the most impactful part of the goo tuber... the lower lag charge hold that lets you squidbag with a charge.
Funny aside its main thing is just being more stylish than other chargers, even at the cost of effectiveness.

as someone who has nearly 5-starred it, I feel like big swig’s problem is the kits it has, rather than the main weapon itself. most of its attacks are balanced properly, with them being fast and having a large area they affect, with the trade off lower damage. the weapon would work great with a faster-paced supportive play style if it got a kit that lent itself to that kind of gameplay; something like fizzy bomb or squid beakon, and booyah bomb, crab tank, or tacticooler.

I see this pop up and all I remember is that SpongeBob meme with pearl asking how tough someone is and they say they used the goo tuber and immediately said "right this way" lmao.

no-launch canopy is a good gimmick, it's everything else that's wrong with the weapon. truly a tragic case

Tbh it would've been better if the made a heavy version of undercover but with more hp and damage

The gimmick isn't broken on under, it's stars are.
It needs more damage, range AND probably also a real kit. It was completely scammed out of cooler.

As someone who mains Splatterscope, 5 Starred both of them, and accumulated over 3000 wins with them combined, the scope is not a useless gimmick. Yes you lose the charge hold however you get a 5% increase in range. While it doesn’t sound like a lot it is actually very helpful as it allows you to outrange some other weapons such as Hydra for example. I’d also argue that the scope doesn’t actually make you sluggish, if anything it actually makes you move more. Due to the fact you zoom into the scope and it limits your vision means that you must commit to your shot and shoot immediately. With the Unscoped however, it feels like you’re more often then not holding a charge and charge holding around until you find someone to snipe which feels slower to play as you have to continuously get out of swim form to keep the charge. Not having a charge hold with Splatterscope makes it so that it feels you move more freely and that you actually have better awareness of everything as long as you don’t stay zoomed in with the scope for more than 5 seconds. There’s a reason you see Splatterscopes more in competitive compared to Splat Chargers: the extra range is very beneficial for reaching certain weapons that could outrange you if you were a Splat Charger, having more range also means you actually paint more thus get more of your special, you are actually more mobile since you are not focusing on using the charge hold mechanic, and that extra range can actually help on certain maps and allow you to hit shots that wouldn’t really be possible without Scope. An example of this is Mahi, there is a little gap between the three platforms in the center of the stage in which you can actually hit a player’s legs through. While yes it is possible with Splat Charger it is actually more difficult due to not having that zoom in to make it easier to aim there.

The marketing of the Goober is garbage. I'm actually a Goo Tuber main, and it's true best gimmick is never actually mentioned in game - it's not how long you can hold a charge, but how quick you can go between squid and kid form while holding a charge.
Seriously, try spamming the ZL button on other chargers. The animation is forced to finish, and takes half a second each time. With Goober, it's interruptible, and much quicker. It also has the same mechanics as Sub Strafing, allowing for quick turnarounds. You can fire out of a charge hold quicker as well.
Really the one thing it lacks is range... It paints great for a charger, it's more mobile than most chargers, and it's got pretty decent kits as well, at least with the subs.
If it weren't for the game pushing the extended charge hold time as it's claim to fame, I think it'd be much more appreciated.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Splattershot Nova
They brought back and reskinned Dual Squelcher but in enhange for the gimmick that its accuracy doesn't degrade over time, they nerfed its accuracy AND damage
Dual Squelcher was already an outclassed main weapon in Sploon 1, then they gave it worse damage than Aerospray (both 24 per shot but Nova fires way slower)
All for a gimmick that will never realistically help because in order for it to come into affect you'd have to *not* take advantage of shooters' unmatched mobility and make your positioning incredibly predictable

Goob's forgotten gimmick is its high partial charge damage. Sure, it can oneshot with a partial, but it can also 2-shot with a quick charge and a tapshot like Bamboozler, and while it doesn't have Boozler's full range, it is still plenty range to outrange a lot of things, and considerably faster than a 100-charge. And it can afford to both roll and surge with charge, unlike other chargers. And it has a shorter buffer before firing a stored charge. All that, its high efficiency, good inking and very spammable kit and you get a very active and versatile, almost shooter-like charger. It's really bad when it's played passively like a Splat Charger, but if you use all three of its sides- the slightly worse Bamboozler partials, the slightly worse Squiffer quick oneshot and slightly worse Splat Charger long range hit- it's... Still kinda meh, at least in a game with Squeezer. Forget Pro, Goob is the weapon that is strictly outclassed by Squeezer.
Swig's wide trail comes in very handy in Salmon Run, where you have plenty of time and safety to use rolling's role compaction and efficiency to both reposition and clean up behind yourself at the same time. That was on release. They also buffed it to oneshot chum on top. Really shouldn't have, it's already good against trash with flicks, they just streamlined an interesing tradeoff weakness and made it into the same mindless "hold ZR" as other rollers except Carbon.
Scopes are handy occasionally, make shooting through thin gaps easier. And a bit longer range.

Ultimately, I think while not every gimmick works, the gimmick weapons add some great flavour. Splatoon is a game about whacky ideas, not every idea will stick and that's okay

You didn’t mention the torp combo goo has, the fact that its partial is comparable to squiffer, its charge straifing being insanely fast, good paint output.....

It's weird to me that scoped are considered to be a gimmick falling short, considering they are as viable if not more than their not scoped variants.
The range really does help to out snipe non scoped variants, and even if you personally think of it as less fun or less mobile, that's not necessarily the case.
It took me a bit to get used to them, but at this point I really think both versions are viable and fun in both chargers, and I don't feel my mobility being really that damaged with the scoped variant, since when you get used to chargers, you don't really need to scope for more than a single charge shot.
That's my only objection however, I think this was a fun video, I really hope you don't take this in a bad manner.
To add things about your video I like, I like how you defined a gimmick, and that you listed most of the music in the description, which is a real big help when you put bangers in the background (also the song in the last 5 seconds of the video is Uwa!! So Temperate♫)

I agree. As a charger main, I agree that non-scoped chargers are slightly better, but scoped chargers have their place. The charger class is functioned around high damage + range. That little bit of extra range can really make a difference, especially against certain match ups and maps. And when you get really good, you learn to play at each charger's effective (furthest) range.

As a paint roller main, ambushing is really helpful, and plus , in turf wars the teams sometimes just rush ahead and don’t paint anything, so I have to stay back and paint , I use the one with the trizooka, so that can make up for the range and paint more ground

The problem I see with Gootuber’s partial charge kills is that it’s slower than the other options in its range (Squiffer and Bamboo)… which defeats the whole point of being able to kill with a partial charge
If Gootuber had more range, then it’d likely be a lot better. But it doesn’t. So it’s not.

Please don't have an opinion on scoped chargers again 😭🙏
The range they get now matches snipewriter, and charge holds honestly aren't that important
Which is why .q used it (scoped firefin) against KaiZer at worlds a couple times

He never said it was wrong to use it, just that someone using gootuber will probably win more with a different weapon, I believe he even called gootuber fun at one point
