    Great vlog Tom, I have met you on a couple of occasions in Norfolk my home County, you was doing a workshop at Thurne mill in 2010. you inspired me more to do Landscapes & Seascapes then, photography has taken me all over the UK and abroad, I now do my own talks on Landscape photography for photographic clubs,as well as being a founder of Norfolk Photographers camera club, I host workshops, won many awards and accolades as well as competitions, and also have a youtube channel myself, and a huge amount is thx to your inspiration Tom, I would like to say thank you for that.

    Thank you for the detailed "recipe". You always explain everything so clearly. And as an added bonus, you showcase some of the beauty of my home country - exiled in New Hampshire - so I'm always thinking of packing a bag when I watch your videos. The sea defenses reminded me of the amazing New Brighton - one of the first places I go when I get home and it's different every time!

    I really related to the idea of cooking! Sometimes when making a favorite recipe of mine I forget something, whether it be timing, a seasoning, even an ingredient. This happens to me quite a lot in my photography too! I forget something in the ‘recipe’ or miss calculate something.
    The one thing that remains a constant is my food & images are made with love. Thanks for the reminder!

    Hi Tom! Hello really liked what you had to say about mood. I often get caught up in the joy of shooting and forget what my intention is with the shot. This was a great reminder! Mood could make for a great full length video 😉

    Good explanation of composition. Love the photos. Often I'm not a big fan of long exposure but I think you effectively used it and came up with great photos. I appreciate you listing all the equipment. I was wondering what tripod you are using. It appears to be very tall even without the center column. Thanks for the video.

    Hey whats all this throwing shade at my home town of Felixstowe? haha!
    Great video mate, I immediately recognised those sea defences from the thumbnail. Never photographed it myself though since leaving 10 years ago.
    Cheers

    Enjoyed your video, Tom, even tho it was like salt in an open wound to me (only joking) as I had planned to visit for this site a few weeks ago, but as you mentioned you need all the ingredients and alas low tide at sunrise did not provide me the perfect 'bake'. But as a consolation, I did get some good shots at Dovercourt instead! Likewise, I did find Skyfire a little hit and miss too.

    Great, as usual Tom! one question: how do you manage focus stacking when you have moving elements in the frame? The sea is moving in the meanwhile... tnxs!!!

    • @hobmoor2042
      @hobmoor2042 5 років тому +1

      Francesco Fanton - Tom mentioned that his stacking shots each had a 10 second exposure; so, I think that exposure time would smooth out most of the moving elements - as you can see at 9:18 minutes. He's using a Little Stopper filter to increase the exposure time and he's using a grad filter from the top of the shot, down to the horizon - see 5:44 minutes.

    Thanks for the Skyfire recommendation. In your experience, what Threshold represents a ‘good’ sky (70%, 80% or 90%)?

    • @LandscapePhotographyiQ
      @LandscapePhotographyiQ  5 років тому

      I would love to give you a clear answer Andrew but we have had mixed results at different probability scores. My top tip would be to use other apps in conjunction with this to form a wider view. Dark skies is another good one and provides cloud cover % which is helpful. Would an apps video be helpful or are there too many out there already?

    • @andrewmahon4290
      @andrewmahon4290 5 років тому

      Landscape Photography iQ I think an apps video could prove useful (I use Golden Hour, MeteoEarth and Clear Outside), however British weather is too changeable to make them entirely trustworthy.

      Thanks for feedback. Southwold is always great, there is so much to do in one location. Take a look at our Harsh light video, this was shot just down the road in Aldeburgh which is also packed with things to do. Worth getting up real early, both will be busy with bank holiday visitors during the day! Hope this helps and you have a great trip. Currently in Cornwall and then onto Italy, so wont be your way I am afraid. Good luck!

    Please help me in the same way to make good images from a flat, farming landscape. I´m living in the middel of Sweden and you don´t travel all the time to other locations. And I just run out of inspiration for this landscapes.

    I suspect that you tuned the color of your pictures afterwards. If so, it's very disappointing.
