I'd love a video about how you did the 4 photo stack print.
Tip 1: move to a place that has a very beautiful seascape xD
I love that you're printing all of your work, such inspiration!
Nigel saying: “I could actually throw a pebble into the Ocean”
My first thought: “Please do not throw Pebbles into the Ocean” 😁
Thanks for another great video! 👍
Ha - probably not the best analogy - sorry pebbles 🤦🏻♂️🙈
Stunning!
My most favourite of your videos, ever!
Thank you, Nigel.
As a passioante amateur, I love these videos man! One of the best accounts out there for tips and advice, keep up the good work!
This wave „phenomenon“ u were talking about is called ‚backwash‘ :)
As a beginner in photography, I am learning a lot from your channel and the one from Mads as well. Some family members mentioned some kind of improvement in my photos but I am still frustrated not getting the shots I would like. I am working even harder, getting inspired by your work and I hope one day, I will get one picture I will be proud of. Your shots are stunning and seeing all of the preparation behind is, again, inspiring. Definitely, a huge thank you and I can't wait to a second book of yours, Vistas being awesome. Thanks for everything even though we don't know each other !
Love your videos, very informative. You've inspired me to take up photography again in a personal capacity. I've learned so much from you that helped me better and enhance my photography both for work and pleasure. Keep the videos coming, and take care.
As ever, fantastically useful video. The backlit wave shot is simply stunning, inspired to get to the sea ASAP! 👍👏
Thank you for the great tips Nigel. Always appreciate the advice given
Such beautiful light on the waves, gorgeous shots
Thanks for those tips Nigel. As we are in lockdown I have been going down to the rocky Berwickshire coast near my home, last week I took hundreds of photos and managed to acheive quite a few gems! The next time I am out I will put your tips into practice and see if there is an improvement in my photos.
Stunning wave shots, that light ! Great video!
All the prints you show in this video are incredible, but that Prima one is something really special. Wow!
Some great images at the end, there - one of the better actual photographers on UA-cam these days
Awesome video Nigel, Thank you for information and amazing photos.
I always learn so much from your videos, Nigel, and I loved seeing the stunning light and great captures from this beautiful place! This location will have to go on my “wish list”!
Excellent video, you are a new discovery for me but I'll be catching up on your videos in the coming weeks. Some great tips. I'm off for my first seascape exploration tomorrow!!
Really beautiful video and great tips, Nigel!
phenomenal last part of Madeira trilogy. Amazing photos, great tips - all of them. I have been to Madeira 8 years ago, but now seeing your videos, i want to go there back again.
Appreciate seascapes so much more after seeing and hearing you here. Thanks, so much!
So that's some of 2022 calendar sorted then! Lovely images Nigel
Another excellent and informative video. Fantastic photos.
Great video once again! Really like your work and the time you put into making a single photo. Keep up the great work!
Wow your photography is amazing such an unique majestic atmosphere on it
Lovely video Nigal, very interesting, and calming, thanks for sharing.
a wonderful video, very personally presented and as usual, fantastic images! Thx a lot, make this difficult times easier!
Another great video and very useful tips. I especially loved the backlit waves.
Thanks for everything you do, learning so much from you! 🙏🏻
And obviously I don’t need to point out your photos are wonderful
Some really good tips. I especially appreciate the discussion vis a vis shutter speed and the type of seascape being shot.
Patients, something we all need to have more of.
Thank you for sharing this amazing place Nigel, truly stunning scenery .
Hope you are staying safe, certainly looking grim for many other places over there.
Way too many patients right now. But patience is a required virtue for photography.
Useful tips. Two especially for me. Great images all around. I really loved the capture of those waves crashing. And I must say I was really taken with Rachael's shell on the beach. That is one beautiful image. For me it is a great reminder to not be stuck in one mode to the point of not noticing something rich right under my nose. Thank you, Nigel.
This video is marvelous.
I would very much appreciate it if, at some point in the future, perhaps, you were so kind as to consider sharing your vision of and ideas about photographing ponds, rivers, lakes, and wetlands.
Thank you for the inspiration and for revealing what pure professionalism in photography is.
I love all your videos and have been learning a lot. But, being a native of Madeira island, well....makes this special. Thanks for doing justice to this amazing island.
Oh my, the pictures brought tears to my eye, they are so beautiful.
Thanks so much
Loved this video, I live across the road from the beach in North Wales you’ve given me some great ideas, as always thanks Nigel and stay safe
Fantastic wave photography. Rachael's tips certainly are invaluable. I am taking notes and learned from both of you. Had a full day of shooting waves and the beach, but still need more refinement and improvement.
Rachel is one of the very best, if not THE best, seascape photographer in the world. Amazing body of work.
Stunning place shots and thx for all the tips !!!
Once again so fantastic images and so much to learn about your style of photography. I am big fan of your style and you are always inspire me, by using your tips!
I worked out a main reason I look forward to your videos so much. Your actual content and photos are amazing, of course...but it's how you present everything more as a chat than something more formal. Like you could've cut out the part about the dynamism of the waves, and it seems like you decided midstream that you were going to show photos on the iPad (rather than the prints you had ready to show). I really appreciate your effort to pull us in as if you're talking directly to us, rather than posting a video on a massive social media platform.
Wonderful prints Nigel , what a fabulous place Madeira is ! You certainly made the most of your time there
Spectacular Shots. Well done.
With waves like that I half expected Racheal Talibart to come swooping in with the zoom lens :) some epic scenery in this video Nigel
My words fail me in describing the beauty of your work. And your always cheery disposition and positive attitude makes me look forward to your videos. That and you are an excellent teacher. Your work is stunning. Thanks for the time you put into sharing with the rest of us. Best wishes to you for the new year,. John in NJ, USA.
Thanks so much
Thanks Nigel This is one of your best vids. Really enjoyed the tips. And Madeira is on my bucket list now!
Great tips! I've been doing a lot of seascapes lately, and your point about height (getting low compared to wave to heighten drama) is very well taken. Such a simple thing, but I'm sure will make a big difference. Re: shutter speed, I find half a sec a bit slow for my taste. The waves get too creamy and lack definition. A quarter or even a tenth seems to work for me. But highly subjective, of course! Thanks man--you do a great job of NOT resting on your laurels. I find consistently helpful tips on your videos, and also much enjoy your quality videography. Really nice setups and shooting.
Great end to the mini-series Nigel and suffice to say, I think you have put Madeira on the photography map. Loved that seascape image with the sea stacks, had an Icelandic feel to it
Such a great video Nigel - it must have been so therapeutic being there for a sunrise like that too - if I had to pick one genre of photography to do for the rest of my life seascape photography would win hands down, just sadly one I can’t do enough living so far away from the coast 😫 thought all your shots were incredible - and the atmosphere of that location was unreal! Huge fan of Rachael’s work too!
Beautiful video and photos Nigel! Seascapes are a bit hard to photograph, thank you very much for your tips!
Amazing shots.. Thanks for the tips.
Can't beat some good seascapes, thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much for your job. Keep doing it because we learn a lot of photography in your videos.
lovely video and some inspirational advice to put to good use too
Stunning photos!! I'm from Portugal, thank you for being in one of our beautiful islands😉🇵🇹🤙
Such beautiful images with great tips too. I love doing seascape photography and was hoping to focus on it this winter, however due to covid that hasn't been possible. That light was gorgeous when you were on location too, what more could you ask for. Brilliant video.
Nigel, another great educational video. May the lockdown soon be lifted.
Gorgeous video, epic images. Wonderful!
Thanks Nigel, interesting video, great tips and stunning location, view from your room was fantastic too. Desperate to get out again now after lockdown
You're so talented dude. Love your channel and work
Going to take on board these tips for sea scapes. I have been practicing with my new ND filter. Wonderful video as always. Thank you.
That was funny, "Dynamism" my wife even asked what I was laughing at. Great images, cheers
Great and inspiring, Nigel. Stuning location and let's hope travelling will become possible soon to go to those spots. Cheers
Your work is masterful. Always.
Thank you so much for this video. I am leaving in the morning for Oia, Spain, a coastal town on the western coast. Will be spending a month and hope to get some wave photos at sunset.
Great inspiring video in which you are sharing your knowledge to capture light and motion into wonderful images.👌
90% of my images are seascapes! Love it! Both fast and slow shutter speeds! I often use 1/6 sec handheld with a ultra wide.
Thank you for sharing Nigel. 🙏
Good tips nigel. I especially like the one about the underexposing the crashing wave and not being able to trust the wave pre-brake histogram because as a water goes up the histogram will change and the highlights will be blown out has the water catches the sun.
Absolutely brilliant photos
Best Notification all day
Good lessons to follow. Thanks. When I find a great seascape and all the elements are cooperating, I try to remember to look at it in bw too.
Thanks I really enjoyed this and once again learnt some more tips
Thanks for another great video and few tips too. Yes seascape is different - water moves and waves changing every few seconds - I always come back with hundreds of images specially if catching waves. Rachael Talibart is amazing, I came across her work when she released her "Poseidon Rising" image - my favourite seascape image of all times by anyone, sorry Nigel :) but your seascape is absolutely fab too.
Really helpful tips thank you Nigel
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Some great advice Nigel (I really liked the talking about speed settings as I always have issues with them), I also like the the tips from Rachael who I followed on a
Porto Montiz ...... remember it well, beautiful spot. All the north coast is quite dramatic but a bit inaccessible in places .... a big section of the coast road was closed due to landslip/rockfall when I was there. Great photos and tips. Doubt if I'll see the sea again for a few months with the way things are in the UK, though .....
Without a doubt you are one of the very best. Really enjoy your channel.
Thanks Tim
That print at 17:37 is my favourite 😍! Thanks for the tips😁
Wow what a fantastic location, really enjoyed the video, some great tips Nigel, if we're ever able to visit the coast again I'll definitely use them 🤣
I loved Madeira, I would love to go back especially after seeing your photos.
Love your work ❤️
Excellent as alway thanks for sharing.
Brilliant Nigel, I've been to the exact spot with the natural pools....unfortunately it was heaving with people, again stunning place and stunning work. Given our situation ( I am near Edinburgh) I don't know if these videos are inspirational or just adding to the desperation !!!
Thx for sharing! Really inspiring!! Greetings from Germany
I live in a coastal town in East Yorkshire so these are some great tips for me. We have many caves and sea stacks so thankyou for these. You've motivated me to get back out shooting these. Sounds silly but I guess you get tired of shooting what's on your doorstep, but now I want to get back out!
Yeah. I know I can get so used to what is always around me that I become insensitive to it and overlook its beauty; beauty which was and is there still. Thanks for your comment on this, Ben.
My parents in law live in Hornsea and love that coastline. Unfortunately covid has meant I haven't been for a year
@@NigelDanson Ahh yes Hornsea is lovely. I'm Bridlington, just a 20 minute drive further up! It is a great coastline, I just need to get out photographing what's on my doorstep again rather than wanting to go further afield!
We just get use to our local landscapes. I love the excitement wich comes with exploring new location. But at the same time many of my favourites images were taken locally - I just spend so much more time near home than surrounded by great vistas
Wow im watching your video on the new telly that santy brought stunning as your work is looking at it in 4K on a 50inch your work pops to life !!
Awesome
Thank you very much for another inspiring video! Remeber the tip and plan a trip to the Azores! Stay safe!
Ribera da janela is my fav from yours, the result is awesome..
I was there 3 weeks ago, it was so scary to be there all by myself. How do you go there to such locations and have courage to stay there longer for the perfect shoot.
It was like the waves can take me away anytime or the cliffs can slide anytime on my head.
Hats off👍
Awesome! I live in Madeira!! Wonderful place for hiking and photography! You must go and check the Pico Ruivo. Yes, the weather changes depending on where you are. I'm learning more about landscape photography and you've been a great source of knowledge and information. Thanks
Another great video Nigel! Next stop >> Azores
That shot prima. WOW.
Magnifique! toujours très interessant meilleurs vœux a toi 😉
great work, well done!
It always happens that the more exciting the sea is, the more raw files you have to pore over for the gems afterwards. I'm forever coming back with over 100 images that look exactly alike on the sd card. In fact I've got load of the sea creating those splash back waves at Land's End from the summer that I've never worked on. Maybe I'll have a look at them today 😊 This has been an excellent series that I'll be watching again more than once before we go to Madeira next year (hopefully!) ~ thanks so much for sharing Nigel. Was that Porto Moniz by the way? I remember it from the last visit 15 years ago.
I was there in the hotel with the natural pool. Great place. Madeira is wonderfull!
Lot of great ideas that could apply to many types of photography. Wished I lived along the coast. No waves in Nebraska.
You’ve a stunning collection from Madeira! Cracking video again.
Yep - it was a good week 👍🏼
