This video was incredibly informative and I am so EXCITED to implement this advice when I apply for the 2020 application cycle! Thank you Dr. Gray for your dedication to help pre-meds like me get into medical school and become the physicians we have always dreamed to be! ❤️❤️ please continue to release more videos like this!!!
Hi! I think you did an amazing job filming this, and I was wondering if you had any tips on how to record the interview as you did. I am trying interview students within the same approach but not sure how to go about it.
You said "LSU State school, and you are out of state, very hard school to get into, especially with those grades, UNLESS you have ties to the state". What exactly did you mean by ties to the state?
Dalton Hill state government usually require their public schools to take in a certain amount or percentage of in state resident as their attendants, take UCLA for example, they report, say 5% acceptance rate, which is composed by 10% in state acceptance rate and 2% out of state acceptance rate, and this is true for all public schools really, being an in state applicant is always a huge boost for public med schools.
I don't think the classes are sketchy at all - pretty standard for a "biomedical sciences" grad program, especially if you picked that program specifically to boost your GPA while also trying to look good when you apply to med school. EMT licenses are certs, so that was definitely attainable with just a GED or diploma.
@@Mediacriti certifications are one thing jobs are another. Taking prerequisites for med school + maintaining a good GPA+ EMT isn't humanly possible . Full of red flags .. Anatomy lab, chemistry, and physics take up all you spare time
@@andrewbartell8962 EMT is a job, it's just a job that requires at least certification. I take it you didn't finish watching the video since this guy's problem is he did too much and his GPA suffered for it. :/
@@andrewbartell8962 I was able to maintain a 4.0 GPA as a senior biochemistry major and 911 EMT. I took my EMT class the same semester I took calculus 2, organic chemistry 2, physics 1, and a couple core humanities and I am not a naturally gifted student. It’s a ton of work and requires some insane self-discipline but it can certainly be done. And being an EMT is an extremely rewarding experience.
Brent Legendre no point in applying them you’ll be 60 when you’re Finally a doctor and a lot of hospitals won’t want to run the risk of health issues on job with a 60-70 year old new graduate.
Trump Is God You’re an ignorant loser for attempting to discourage someone from pursuing their dreams. Your username explains why you are the way you are. There are many older, non-traditional applicants who matriculate into medical school, finish medical school, and go on to rewarding careers in medicine. Here is an example ua-cam.com/video/ayTwtOi_wtE/v-deo.html and there are countless others. Stop being a dick!
d felder she’s graduating at 55, that means all of her paychecks will be going to the student loans till she’s 68 70 years old that’s not rewarding or worth it at all.
Trump Is God of course it wouldn’t be for someone who isn’t looking at it holistically and who says she had to take out a boat load of loans? She’s had a multitude of life experiences which I’m sure includes great employment previously. I’m almost positive she planned accordingly.
you should do a video of an accepted applicant and say what they did well in their app, maybe you already did this not sure
Seconded
Third!
Been watching you for awhile and found this first episode 🥲 So happy you’re still here and helping Dr.Gray!

These episodes are fantastic! I apply next year and I have already found so much information! Thank you and please keep them coming!
I wonder how he's doing in the cycle afterwards?
I can’t wait for more!!!
yay! I'm glad you liked it.

such a cool idea!
thanks :) hopefully, the execution was good too :). This was the first one, so hopefully, they get better as we go!
Shout out to the biomedical engineering majors pursuing medical school!🙌🏽‼️
This is so great!
yay! I'm glad you liked it!
If he would of done a postbacc would his gpa be higher. Would medical school overlook his horrible undergrad grades?
Yes, a postbac, taking undergrad classes will count towards his undergrad classes and would show a positive upward trend!
how does a school know if you have ties to a state e.g through family?
background info section in the application
Who does this for dental school applications? Are med and dental school applications similar enough to use your team for advice?
You said "LSU State school, and you are out of state, very hard school to get into, especially with those grades, UNLESS you have ties to the state". What exactly did you mean by ties to the state?
You’re more likely to get into a med school in the state you are from because you are More likely to practice in that state
Ties to the state as if you lived there before, have family members there ect

Grades look fine but classes look sketchy. Intro Physiology and bacterial infectious diseases at graduate school? 11 yrs as EMT? How did u land that?

Have you worked with any non-traditional students - say someone in their 40's
