    No silicone needed over the foam? You made it look so easy, the one i attempted was a pain, carving and cutting the foam and then spreading silicone over to put on the dirt and stuff

    • @BMDrew3
      @BMDrew3 2 місяці тому +1

      I have the same question. I see everyone else cutting the shiny outer layer off of the dried expending foam, then applying silicone over that, then putting the coco fiber on that.

    • @JupiterJamie
      @JupiterJamie Місяць тому

      If you put the dry co coir directly on the wet foam before it dries then it gets embedded so no need for the carving or more silicone. I don't know how long the foam stays wet/sticky, but I'd assume you would need to work quickly.

    So is that the back ground or the flooring?
    If it’s the flooring I wouldn’t suggest this, when the reptile sheds, poops, pees, it will soak up into that and harvest bacteria. I could be wrong, but that’s what I imagine happening with like a bearded dragon if it’s the flooring. They shed tiny particles on top of the full body sheds so that just would be a mess trying to clean a floor that isn’t removable.
    If it’s the background I think it’s cool idea! But regardless it looks awesome

    • @EverEvolvingExotics
      @EverEvolvingExotics  10 місяців тому +2

      It’s a background. These are only used with bioactive enclosures that essentially clean themselves using isopods and springtails as a clean up crew. I wouldn’t recommend this with fake plants.

    do you let the silicon dry first before applying the foam? and would it be safer to silicon the cork to the glass instead of the foam? i feel like the foam won’t hold the wood very well

    • @Acro8927
      @Acro8927 22 дні тому +1

      Yes,
      And yes, especially if you have larger pieces of wood securing the wood to the glass with silicone and then adding expanding foam would be safer, any enclosure larger than a 12x12x18” I would also recommend adding egg crate light diffuser to the back before adding foam to give it extra support and prevent it from peeling
      Id personally not put the substrate onto the wet foam like they did though, you’ll have better results if you carve it after it dries and then silicone a background blend to the carved foam
