@@claudiocruzat7667 man, even Steve Vai uses AXE FX (since 2010?).
It's not a matter of the gear they're using, it's a matter of how they are playing.
Also, from point of view, all these supposed shredders don't understand that's not a matter of how many notes per second you can play per se, but how many notes you can play and still being recognizable.
You can spot the great guitarist after couple of notes, whether they're playing fast or not, because they've character, personality in their playing. Which is what is lacking in nowaday "shredders"

This is why i study lots of different guitarists like him, Yngwie, Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe, Jason Becker, and lots of others rather than just trying to copy someone specific and just being content with that. Over the past two years especially i’ve been trying to find my own sound so i can at least have that kind of advantage even if my picking isn’t entirely as clean as people like Paul yet. I don’t want to fall into the trap of having no notable playing style that differs from everyone else. I’m still working on stuff to be posted but i’ll have things to post here soon. One being a cover and one being an original.

Playing the guitar gave me a constructive outlet when a lot of friends of mine ended up in jail or worse. George is a very humble and nice man. My favorite player by far. It's kinda strange how some things work out. Most of the time a person gets into guitar, or drums, or any other instrument due to one guy, or one band. As a kid growing up in the 70's, the major names I can remember listening to were Nugent, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Boston...the big boys. But then something really clicked in my head when I bought my first Dokken album. I was 16 and really into the 80's metal scene, and Lynch really connected with me. I bought an ESP and Randall amp so I could learn all the Lynch stuff (back then, I thought you had to have the same gear as the player!). Of course there's Eddie, but right there with him was Lynch. Of all the hundreds of guitarist who could have reached that 16 year old kid, he was the one I admired the most.

I like that he explains everything he plays or demonstrated from his records in detail. If you really pay attention, he actually does more techniques of sounds and scales than many well known guitar players. Bought my first guitar, and took two guitar lessons. My instructor worked with me on basic bar chords. Near the end of the lesson he asked me if I had a song I would like to learn. I told him Dokken- It's Not Love. He showed me the the finger pickingat the beginning of the song, and said see if you learn this when you come back. I practiced all week. When I came backthe neck week I played it for him. He was surprised I put that little bit of vibrato in the right spots. He said I might be a pretty good student. Unfortunately I had to stop taking lessons from him when I had to move away to a place so small there was no music store to continue lessons. That's when tab book's, and magazines became popular. They helped a lot until UA-cam came out, and I learned some tab books were terrible. Thanks to several good guitar teacher's on here thing's that didn't quite sound right before was fixed.

Max Norman, but of a coincidence at the start, Max as people probably know produded Diary of a Madman and Blizzard of Ozz. George was suggested by Randy as a replacement for Musonia, George also tried out for Ozzy. I also hear the diminished scales at the start of George's lead which was something Randy utilised a lot in his own playing.

Yup. Covers up the sloppiness and he is a feel player who can improvise beautifully against the rhythm track. Without that context he feels stiff.

Man, I remember getting this video as a kid and working on all the stuff in it so much that 30 years later I still hear a lot of that stuff come out when I play.
George is easily in the top 5 when it comes to my biggest guitar influences.
His tone, especially during this era had a massive impact on how I dial in my tones.

Every one always talks about Eddie and Page and Clapton when they talk about their influences and heroes. And those are great musicians no doubt. But guys like Lynch, Mick Mars, Kirk Hammett…those guys are the ones who had the greatest impact on me growing up a teenager in the 80s. And of course the dynamic duo’s like Tipton/KK Downing of Priest and Murray/Smith of Iron Maiden. Those guys are the ones that made me pick up a guitar and fall in love with metal

I'm one of Lynchies biggest long-time fans and always will be, but in this video is representable of the times (late 80's) so he's extremely "blown". He's unable to explain most of his chops but he does demonstrate a lot of his unique style. Thanks for this post.
