Nice going Alex. The high outflows (7000megs) plus today's rain will mean these fish will spread and last a little longer in far flung sections of the river. That's a good thing.
I was surprised how schooled up they still were when we went. River was at 6500MLD and I thought it would spread them out a fair bit but we didn't see any more than 200m from where they drop them in
Lucky lads. Spent a week up there last year and got donuts 😐 The river was much lower though. Haven’t been back, it’s a six hour drive for us, would be pretty crushing to go all that way and put in that many hours to get owned again lol. One day we might try again.
Six hours is a fair trip to chase them. If you do come down again its worth checking out some of the smaller rivers in the area too. Fish aren't as big but a lot more of them
@@HawkesyFishing haha man, we didn’t get a look at the rubicon that trip but I’d like to have a go there, brookies have always been on my bucket list. Guess that’s a right place at the right time deal though. We do alright down here in Gippsland, definitely get the numbers, just not the size. Love watching your channel, you’re definitely living the dream brother
Most of the time I just cast them out and wind them back in with a little flick of the rod every now and then. The other technique that worked this trip was casting it put across or down current and letting the water impart the swimming action while I just held the rod
We drove 3 + hours to get there yesterday we got there at 5am all the way till 3pm not a bite or fish in seen.Found a dead one floating definitely the biggest rainbow I have seen.we fished everywhere we could at the Goulburn river. sad to say after I haven't caught a fish for years and the past 4 months of straight now with mates this is the longest we had to travel. NEVER FISHING AGAIN 😔
I wouldn't give up on fishing so soon, there's plenty of good opportunities around Victoria and things will get a little easier as it warms up. It might be worth booking a guide or watching some more educational style videos to help increase your catch rate
Hey mate, congratulations on the browns you smashed them, where abouts in the goulburn if you don't mind me asking. i have caught one massive brown bigger fair bit bigger then those ones over near where the goulburn meets jamieson any info would be great
The Goulburn is so high right now. Was there 2 days ago while I was at Taggerty trout fishing in the Acheron, rubicon, steavensons and Goulburn. Prettt good fishing though. Have any tips for UA-cam? I’ve got a channel and I want better content and more subscibers. Cheers mate
Yeah they've been letting a lot of water out of eildon to make sure it doesn't overflow again this year. The biggest thing with UA-cam is putting out consistent content and building an audience
OMTrout, what monsters. Are those ex Snobs Creek Hatchery matrons really dumb (bite on anything), never caught one? God dam, I once stepped on a wombat (at night and it was sitting just inside its hole) bloody thing attacked me but I was wearing motorcycle boots and motocross pants so it just pushed it away. My buddies got a good laugh though and made fun of me that whole camping trip, calling me Art The Wombat Whisper. Do those old matrons breed in the river or are they done with all that stuff?
Hahaha never had a wombat come after me like that but I have seen them bulldoze their way through the bush when you scare them. I wouldn't say the large stocked fish are super easy to catch but they put enough of them in there you can normally find them if you go looking, biggest reason I hadn't caught a brown yet is I hadn't fished when they have stocked some before. Really not sure how they go spawning in the river, I assume they are still capable of spawning but whether or not they do is another story
Goulburn fishing at its finest right here great vid mate !!!
Thanks mate!
Epic day's fishing boys. Great to see the river in such good nick. Well done 👍
Thanks mate!
Once again another awesome session! Was awesome to get onto those stonker browns!
It was a crazy session, I remember saying on the way up I felt it would be a good day but wasn't quite expecting that
Good to see the fish put back.
Another great video and some absolute pearla trout mate
Thanks mate!

Interesting@@HawkesyFishing when did you do the trip?
@michaellane8374 22nd, I think it was stocked on the 18th and was running high the whole time they'd been in there

Hey mate, cracking vid. what retrieve did you use for the plastics?

@@HawkesyFishing cheers mate, appreciate it.
What plastics do you use?
I'm using osp hp shadtails in the 3.1" size, they have been working really well for me on a range of species

@rendedocean1276 I'm not a guide sorry, there are a few guiding operations in that area though if you do want to go with someone

Between Alexandra and Eildon pondage, this area was stocked at most major access points
where abouts is this on the Goulburn.
Between Lake eildon and Alexandra. They stocked almost every access point in that area
