" a bit of a pull" love that phrase with you saying it.

Such a beautiful landscape, the way you capture it especially at the start of the video is almost painterly. Love the Romano-Cumbrian gate and the mossy house! One of these days I'll actually get to Cumbria and its Roman remains... Until then, I'll keep watching your videos. Thanks Pete.

What a great way to end Saturday evening. I have a treasured copy of Ivan Margary’s ‘Roman Ways in the Weald.’ Never worked out quite how to pronounce his surname.

I realize now that when we visited Britain in 2019, we must have missed a fair few Roman relics - this one at Ambleside is a good example.

This was great, Peter. I don’t doubt the work of the RRA, but it seems such a twisty route by Roman standards. I wish we could walk the line on the ground to see what evidence survives.

The topography of the area means there’s no easy route I think the line is good but more tweaking and research is always ongoing

I suppose that's why the personal assistants of posh salmon anglers are called ghillies.

I think although they are similar I think the roots of both words have separate origins as far as I can find but you may be along the right line
