Thank you, Peter, for the tour of the Memphis Model RR Club's HO scale layout. Definitely some nice looking sections and that steel mill is very impressive. I enjoyed it! Mike
The entire layout is modular. Each section was built by different members. The staging yard in the first scene as well as the curves on that side were built by my dad (the host he showed) and myself. We also built the small industrial island. But the layout was originally built to take to train shows in the area, never had a truly permanent home until this current location. Once here the loop remained but the club stated expanding to add a potential longer single or double track loop in the future. I usually get to operate here a couple times a year when I visit home.
Did they seek your assistance with the overall track plan or specific areas? They have some quality scenes and it was great to see the layouts. Thank you sharing your visit.
The original loop not really, it was designed to take to shows originally. Each member designed their own section and modules were added to create its current size. The most planning that was done in the past was ensuring we had a uniform loop. Future expansion will probably be a bit more planned out.

Peter, trains are very heavy. Hence the 1 1/4 inch bolts. 😂
Thank you for sharing this wonderful layout.
Very impressive 😮 the steel mill being the size of some layouts 👏
That is massive!

Nice! The O&W coal train! Oneida and Western privately owned train run by L&N crews in the 1970s and 80s.
Very cool 👍🤠👍
Impressive. Could you try to show more club / home layouts?

maybe you could talk about what a modular layout how to build on a branch work
That would definitely be an interesting move if they took the entire layout
Is anyone overseeing the layout plan???
