+Bad Drivers of the Sacramento Area Could be a runaway truck that lost his brakes coming down the steep 6% grade into San Bernadino from Cajon Pass right before the 15/215 split!
So what does the type of truck have to do with anything about the wreck. The title should read semi runs over pickup and trailer. The pickup was running a good speed not his fault at all.
Kyle it doesn't matter but you know some people will bitch about anything so they probably just did that to shut them up. No a Chevy or Dodge would've done the same.
That was your dad in the white Ford? I hope he's OK. Judging by the video footage, it would appear he did everything right -- he wasn't making any erratic movements, he was keeping a steady speed, his trailer lights were all operational, and his load was secured. The red semi drifted into his lane and clipped the back of his trailer -- there's nothing your dad could have done to prevent that from occurring.
The guy that was driving the truck and trailer was my relative he walked away with only a few minor injuries the semi driver tried to convince the police that he fell asleep but the guy videoing actually said he was on his cellphone, like wtf
Even without a lawsuit, the accident was bad enough he'd prolly not be able to drive for a couple years. Insurance companies wouldn't want to touch him
When you get your CDL license, you have bigger responsibility on the road. Especially driving for a company. Insurance may pay for it, but when you, the truck driver cause an accident like this, not only will you not drive for that company anymore but the judge will have your CDL license taken away. And in the description they said the original video was giving to the judge to prosecute the semi driver. So yeah I'm pretty sure they revoked his CDL license.
Glad everyone was ok that really ruined the day. Sorry this happened to you folks. I can’t believe semi driver would not be keeping his eyes on the road especially in a busy aria, that’s really screwed up.
That semi driver that hit that pickup towing a trailer will say goodbye to his CDL as well as his trucking career. You can see him now flipping burgers at McDonalds.
Why the fuck was that w900 not in the hammer lane ?? Either get over or slow down. No brakes ? 18 wheeler transmission are designed to downshift if that happens, some transmissions even have a thing called a retarder (google it). HELL he could of even used his Jake or exhaust brake. I highly doubt all of those given items are broken, but if they were then that truck should NOT have been on the road to begin with.
The devices/actions you mention......downshifting, retarder, Jake.......are all auxillary devices/actions to control the speed of a semi and assist in the braking of a 18-wheeler. These devices.....retarder, Jake, downshifting......are meant to extend the life of the brakes and in mountainous terrain, to prevent total brake failure. They are not primary devices/actions to be used as a substitute for emergency/fast braking. This was driver error of some sorts......on the cell phone talking, texting, dozing off or whatever.
