    European Premiere
London Korean Film Festival 2019 Teaser Trailer

    Director: Jang Jae-hyun
Cast: Lee Jung-jae, Park Jung-min, Lee Jae-in, Yu Ji-tae, Jung Jin-young, Jin Sun-kyu, Lee David
Combining supernatural thrills and religious mystery, director Jang Jae-hyun scored a box-office hit with his debut feature The Priests (2015). Returning with another tale of horror-tinged intrigue, the filmmaker is rapidly carving out a reputation as one of Korea’s leading creators of darkly beguiling thrillers.
Svaha: The Sixth Finger follows Pastor Park (Lee Jung-jae), head of the ‘Far East Religious Research Centre’, an organisation that uses a veneer of religious respectability to cynically make money hunting down the many cults that have proliferated across South Korea. Under attack for his persecution of innocent church groups and in need of cash, Park stumbles upon the emergence of a new and secretive Buddhist sect, ‘Deer Mount’. When it’s discovered that cult adherent Na-han (Park Jung-min) is committing terrible murders for some unknown purpose, Pastor Park and his team race to uncover the meaning of Deer Mount’s sinister scriptures. This task becomes even more pressing when the fanatical Na-han turns his attention to a young woman with her own secret, a twin sister who has been locked away since birth…
With leading performances from popular actors Lee Jung-jae (New World) and Park Jung-min (Bleak Night, Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet) the film features an impressive supporting cast including Lee Jae-in, who impressed in LKFF2018 indie feature Adulthood, Japanese actor Tanaka Min (The Twilight Samurai) and Jin Sun-kyu, star of Korea’s current box-office smash Extreme Job.
Not unlike the religious symbolism offered up in the works of Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code), Svaha: The Sixth Finger uses Korea’s twin religious worlds of Christianity and Buddhism to craft a thrilling mystery narrative. With secret scriptures, horrifying painted murals and bizarre ritualistic crimes to decipher, director Jang has produced a thrillingly original tale using occult imagery to drive a visually powerful and narratively engaging story.

@@jimmyrayjackson It's just the nilkantha dharani in sanskrit. And no @malleshan Singajogi, those mantras are not Hindu mantras . Not everything Indic is Hindu. Nilkantha dharani uses epithets of Vishnu and Shiva(Harihar) to describe Avalokiteshwar. Even the four heavenly kings or the Chatur-Maharaj whose names are Dhritarashtra, Virupaksha , Kuber and Viruddhak may seem completely hindu as Kuber is a quite famous vedic deity and Virupaksha is just another name for Shiva, These four heavenly kings are of completely mahayana origin. In Hinduism we generally think of 8,9 or 10 dikpals or guardians of direction and not 4. Respectively they are ashta-nava and dasha dikpal.

In this movie, at about the 50th minute, they said that a 13-year-old Muslim boy in Africa killed innocent people and children, and the child justified that and said that it is the will of God.......This is the biggest distortion of the image of Islam, the writer was very racist towards religion Islam and I show it in a bad way even though it is my religion that I cherish and it is not what the media portrays it at all!!! I wonder why they are trying so hard to distort it?? And Muslims must not remain silent about such distortion!!!

Throughout the film, Christian and Buddhist fanatic cults are portrayed critically, while Islam is mentioned only once. typical paranoid.

This is not a movie that shows antipathy to religion. Don't you remember the line from the Bible that Herod heard about the birth of a king in Bethlehem and killed all the boys under the age of two in that area? In addition, Buddhism is the main subject of this movie. So this movie criticizes all of Christianity, Buddhism, and Muslims?
The basis of all religions is love, but some religious crazies commit crimes.
The key is this. First, it criticizes cultists who instill false beliefs.
Second, it refers to the foolishness of human beings who have been misled by such cultists.

So what's the problem here... The problem is not the religion, as per your grievances, but the child who is using religion to justify it... Just replace religion with fandom and god with Taylor swift... Why would Taylor swifts fan take offense to what that one stupid fan did
