It took many years but finally I put myself up to recording the entirety of a full playthrough of the adventure mode in From The Depths and put It into a single video! Normally this playthrough would have span 10+ videos ranging from 30minutes to an hour long! I really really hope you enjoy this 'movie' and would love some feedback! Things I want to change already include not having the music from the in-game sections but instead adding music later to better vid scenes along with a bit more technical talk about systems I am adding to the craft. Now I need to go take a long nap.
I think it would be great if you left in some more of the filler parts that seem to get edited out, like when you added the 100mm gun to the ship it just appeared and you showed it off, it would be great to hear your ideas and stuff, as well as when enemies show up it would be great to have some tension instead of a jump cut straight to shooting on someone else after going woohoo I killed him.
That's how I like to end grand strategy games. Once I get strong enough to the point there arent any real threats I'll try to provoke a war with the strongest person I can. One of my favorite play through of Victoria 2 (strategy game taking place in the mid 1800s to early 1900s) as France I started getting bored and invaded China, took the richest parts like Guangdong, then provoked a war with America trying to take Texas. Ended up with a massive war as I launched naval landings in undefended parts of the US coast, got Mexico to allow me to launch troops across the Rio Bravo culminating in major land battles in Texas, California, and across the gulf states while our navies slugged it out near DC, New York, and California. I ended up winning since it was around 1910 and I already had a massive tank fleet while the US was mainly just infantry and cavalry so despite their numerical superiority and home field advantage the fighting was pretty even at first as their trained and well supplied army pushed me back but eventually they were throwing conscripts at tanks as every battle ended with the US taking heavier casualties and I slowly ground them down across several epic battles. It was like WW1 but fought in the Southeast and Southwest of America instead of western Europe. It's fun to end a game like this with a bang rather than getting bored, whether that means winning or losing.
I love how he was crippled by the enemy at the end.. but the final blow was from his own gun firing into the back of the other, causing fragments to detonate his insides
Lathrix finally trying to introduce new players to from the depths to boost both the game he likes and his audience has to be a highlight of the channel

Honestly, I never appriciated just how much care is put into each vehicle in FtD until I bought the game myself. I still haven't figured out how AI works, how to design a turret that doesn't run out of ammo within a handful of salvos or with a fire rate greater than 5RPM, or how to design even a semi-efficient engine. Seeing you assemble ships like this while under pressure is nothing short of mad.

It is always absolutely glorious (to use your own terms) to see you get back to it, even though it is rare you ever get into the building and tuning of guns, engines, etc these recent years.
Just starting the vid now. Wanted to say it's a VERY bold (and risky or plain worse in terms of monetary gain) move to make such a long video instead of splitting it up into several. Excited to keep watching!

Great way to spend my early Friday afternoon!

24:40 I worked Wave Piercing fast cats for years and we'd call that "getting up on the plane". Depending on load Seacat Scotland would come up on plane around 18-20knts and keep going up to 36-38knts. Is sea trials(which is usually done after major maintenance/refit taking her out light ship and drive it like you stole it to see if anything breaks) Scotland broke 40knts and I was on Seacat Rapide doing 42knts. We wouldn't come clear out the water and most of the "fast craft" part was our 4 massive water jets strapped to the back instead of conventional prop and rudder set up. At rest on the berth those ships would sit back on the stern as most of the heavy machinery is aft. Up on the plane though they'd sit level. As for weather, being Catamaran their seakeeping and stability is hilariously good. Operational we were type rated to force 9 weather. Your average large conventional ROPAX over 4 times our size would cancel at force 7 weather and in peace time even Royal Navy stay home in force 9 unless they really have to be somewhere. Probably why Seacat Scotland was known locally as the Vomit Comet. We'd head out in all the fun bouncy stuff 😂
Ftds is a game I’d wouldn’t usually play, but since Kathmandu, it’s been one of my favorites to watch. I came back to this video after what felt like 3 years, still just as enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you Lathrix for the wonderful years of content, you’ve made this game into a welcoming community. Wish you well! From the depths is a series I wish to see continued in the future!
Idea: Adventure mode but you cant upgrade ships beyond some limit. So you have to find a better ship, capture it and scrap the previous ship, then upgrade the new ship a bit and repeat.
@@eveisunavailable are you sure? i would guess it ends when rambot dies, so as long as you have another craft with a heartstone you should be fine, right? afterall thats what the heartstone stuff is all about.

So I just want to thank you so much for showing me this game when I first found your channel. I love the videos you make and I really do wish all the best for you in everything that you do.
Thank you for making this! I've been interested in FtD for what feels like forever, but it's got such a steep learning curve that I've bounced off of it in the past. The few videos I've seen over the years pop up for me on youtube have been these huge sweeping series that immediately dive into the nitty gritty details that mean absolutely nothing to me, they're hard to watch. But getting to see the results of all that design work in action, and the challenges that you need to design to meet and overcome, in a single video like this? It was great to see different weapons in action. I think the work you put into this was well worth it. To me, at least!
FTD has been one of my favorite series, it's also how I found your channel and became a sub over 3 years ago. Can't express how happy I am to see more FTD gameplay.
This is what I need when trying to play FTD its very complicated but seeing someone go from base to full advance cannon lvl 100 badassery is amazing :) From the depths is a show i want to see continued in the future!
this is a game I bought years ago thinking to play it, and oh its complexities... years go on and I see some of my fav content providers dump a whole playthrough so time to enjoy vicariously~ this huge length video is honestly better than sifting the yt trash that are 10min long for so much, either a nice sit down and enjoy the movie or just pop it open for a few minutes at a time like a audio book, but with GUNS, EXPLOSIONS, fun fun~
I've had this game for so long, and have never been able to wrap my mind around it enough to be able to actually play it. Glad to see a great personality taking a stab at it.
Took me several sittings but I think I’m finally going to finish this video today. Always love when you post from the depths content. It’s by far my favorite content of yours to watch.
Love your FTD content, regardless if its a long movie or several episode series. I enjoy your commentary and watching you build amazing crafts and putting lore behind them! Great work and thank you for the years of entertainment!
Lath please don't be put off by low channel momentum. You have the unique ability to actually stick with these incredibly difficult games and build beautiful things that no one else could. DON'T SELL YOURSELF SHORT.
I personally always liked the many videos per playthrough style cause I enjoy every second of your content, but I have also always liked movie length videos cause I chill with these videos while playing low intensity games and it's the perfect length to enjoy.
FTD is one of those games where I enjoy watching but I don’t think I would enjoy playing. So, Lathland, thank you for sharing your play throughs here with us. And I have to say that missiles are probably my favorite part about the game. They’re incredibly visually satisfying. Looking forward to hopefully some more long form/movie style content in the future.
I'm glad you are making the type of videos you enjoy. FTD really brings out the creative side and give insight into the thinking and methodology of the designer. So in a way its like watching the mind manifest. Thanks for the vids Lath.

i bet cogs are already turning in your head as to how you could break this game
I have to say, an end where you get defeated in an epic fight is way more fun than quitting because you're just too strong and got bored
Also solves the "problem" of many interesting but abandoned runs that plague this series. It's fun to watch, but I think I prefer this format

FTD has been one of my favorite series, it's also how I found your channel and became a sub over 3 years ago. Can't express how happy I am to see more FTD gameplay.

Fantastic format my friend. I look forward to more!
This is what I need when trying to play FTD its very complicated but seeing someone go from base to full advance cannon lvl 100 badassery is amazing :)
From the depths is a show i want to see continued in the future!
this is a game I bought years ago thinking to play it, and oh its complexities... years go on and I see some of my fav content providers dump a whole playthrough so time to enjoy vicariously~
this huge length video is honestly better than sifting the yt trash that are 10min long for so much, either a nice sit down and enjoy the movie or just pop it open for a few minutes at a time like a audio book, but with GUNS, EXPLOSIONS, fun fun~
I've had this game for so long, and have never been able to wrap my mind around it enough to be able to actually play it. Glad to see a great personality taking a stab at it.
good vid
Lathland 👍
I love these long form videos and thank you for trying to keep this new player friendly
As a newbie to this game I very much enjoyed this video. Thanks for an hour and a half of fun!
