I dont understand what makes Jake think an armada wont show up. That grey rock is the key to humanity's survival, all Jake did was buy the navi a decade or two at most, they will lose eventually. If anything, he doomed the navi by forcing humanity's hand into more extreme action.
This was simple math simply done. The only underestimation was the localised fauna and an as yet unidentified planet-wide hivemind. I'm not certain even the survivors truly grasp this is what they're dealing with, but boy howdy if a planet-cracking armada doesn't come back considering this super conductor is key to human space colonisation, this whole narrative they want to explore is a bust.
By the end of the movie, Jake is so mentally compromised by the planetary hive mind that he is no longer thinking. He is simply a living extension of the hivemind's will, brainwashed by direct stimulation of his pleasure centers and extensive biofeed back. He's no longer doing what Jake would do, or thinking what Jake would think, he's acting and thinking like the Hivemind and expressing the Hivemind's savage will. As such, he's really incapable of comprehending how his own race will really think or what they are capable of, because the Hivemind isn't capable of that. The Hivemind isn't even really able to conceive what the human race is. Remember, to the hivemind all the species on the planet are only cells and tools of itself. It isn't able to conceive of humanity at all until it Jake helps it conceive of Humanity as a disease of a dead mind similar to itself. It's not clear however that it is really capable of conceiving other planets, worlds, stars, much less technology. And I strongly suspect over time Jake is losing that ability himself.
@@celebrim1 Good points, it makes sense since it seams he's losing his connection to his own species. It's kind of unsettling how fast Grace believed all the navi spiritual stuff as soon as her mind became attached to the planetary bio intelligence. She was the most intelligent of all of that group.
Maybe that is the point - the hivemind is so domineering, a consciousness beyond the scope of human understanding, that we were totally unprepared this was the case for what we were dealing with. So of course, any access with that hivemind meant immediate consciousness intrusion, much like what the navi were doing to the wildlife when taking them over. The moment the hivemind noticed something new, it focused everything into taking it over like white blood cells attacking something foreign. Assimilation followed not long after, as the hivemind comprehended only extensions of foreign consciousness, but not what the foreign consciousness wanted. I think the hivemind's mistake as evidenced by the movie was presuming humans have a higher connection, so in taking over Grace and Jake, it hoped to in turn take a red hot run at our entire species - the invading forms. That is why we never see planetary unification against humans until the very, very end, when in a shit-stained panic the planet itself lashes out in the last moments with everything it has. It lets the human survivors leave because it's confused at what happened. Information gleaned from grace and Jake tells it that there would be more coming if everyone were to die, however it hasn't factored in cataclysmic atro-events which would be a very real possibility for space travel. Shit is dangerous af, yo. In letting humans go, it hopes to spread a warning to the species it doesn't understand. The species on the brink, with the super-conductor rock the hivemind lives on. The hivemind has proven itself entirely incapable of negotiation or even rudimentary understanding of inter-species communication. Such a shame it won't realise what is going on when in a decade or two, massive ships enter atmosphere across the planet, and begin tunneling to the core. The hivemind will only know the humans have returns, and still won't understand when the drills detonate with enough nuclear energy to destabilise the planet's core, and set off seismic so tremendous it rips the planet into segments. The last thing the hivemind sees is flashes from the sky - ships utilising two small chunks of unobtainium as a force multiplier for two warheads designed to ignite the atmosphere. The flashes give way to fire. The planet rumbles. Then, nothing. Humanity later returns home with more of this ore than it could ever possibly need. Humanity's grip on the cosmos is now in an unquestioned iron grip.
Yup, gotta love it when a military force is handed the idiot ball to make sure the plot goes the way the writers want, even if it'll involve tactics even an amateur can spot.

Avatar is about as "realistic" as Independence Day, there is no way the natives could defeat a spacefaring species that is hundreds/thousands/millions of years more advanced.
The natives won a battle, that is historically accurate, but next time the humans are back it's going to come with the full might of their military, and the natives will lose the war.
well to be fair the humans on independence day had access to the aliens' technology before the invasion and the aliens relied a lot on our satelites to communicate their ships during the attack. we essentially made a trojan horse using one of their crashed fighters after decades of studying it and placed a virus (because computers are universal lmao) that disabled their defenses and a nuclear bomb inside. but yeah, putting the 90's humanity which had some knowledge of the harvesters and comparing it to blue aliens on the stone age which worship a damn tree isn't a good comparison.
1) Fill the shuttle with rocks instead of minerals 2) Reach orbit 3) Do maybe 5 seconds of math on the shuttle's flight computer 4) Suborbital rock drop on home tree 5) Do maybe 5 seconds of math on the shuttle's flight computer 6) Suborbital rock drop on the tree of souls 7) Send a message home that you had to use up a bit of extra fuel today 8) Profit
@@Dori-Ma It is easier than having to solve the consequences of an orbital attack. Humans can create bodies from other species this would not be complicated. Without destroying the rest of the environment, and leaving the thing that thinks it is a God ... intact for study and subsequent "dispensation" appropriately.
So... Basically we had some civilians and some ex military armed with small arms and modified mining equipment. Hmm... I wonder what would've happen if we had a military base with soldiers trained and armed for this kind of warfare. Humanity first.
They'd probably forget how to operate their guns because plot. Hollywood writers need to talk to that guy they knew in high school that joined the army or something. Having a recon marine conduct a battalion sized movement without forward observers is just Battle of Winterfel levels of stupid.
An army sent over specifically for anti navi purposefully word be terrifying. Tanks instead of armored mini mech suites. Drones made for targeting navi and eliminating them semi autonomously. On the other hand, take away the mechs and the VTOLs, and a battalion of real infantry lead by officers who know the fundamentals wouldn't have much problem defeating oversized mounted archers charging through the bush. Though if that were the case and the navi had similarly not used Hollywood tactics and were woodland skirmishers....gee that would've been a good fight to put to screen, but would've required creative talent. It's interesting that Eywa seems to have a *strong presence* at _concentrated Unobtainium deposits,_ like there's some connection? If you're a planet wide intelligence, a _room temperature superconductor_ might be a necessary and vital part of your biology, in which case mining might be an issue, no matter where. It could also be that Eywa can control all life, but usually just lets it run on automatic. Jake Sully's Avatar was going to be arrowed till Eywa intervened with a sign, Eywa may have been curious about a Avatar that behaved so differently to the trained scientist that usually drove them. And then Sully only really threw in with the Na'vi *_after he linked_* with the planets net, he could have been compromised mentally and had his whole perspective changed without realising. After that he was an unwitting servant of a planet wide intelligence that had worked out just how big a threat humanity was to a ecosystem and it's vital minerals that Eywa needed. Till then it hadn't actually allowed a human Avatar to J̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶c̶y̶b̶e̶r̶s̶p̶a̶c̶e̶ link into the planetary consciousness, so at that point it learnt the full situation and capabilities from a human soldiers perspective. With the added technical information gained from fully uploading Grace into it's mind, it then knew what it had to do. And made it's plans. It did seem lucky that Jake managed to capture and bond with the _"dragon"… …_ And now it has Sully fully integrated with his compete transfer to his Avatar body. It now knows everything that a experienced soldier and a prominent biologist and skilled research scientist knows. It may _decide_ to begin evolving.
So pandora is a pan organism in a sense all beings connected to a potential hive mind which is also hinted to have the minds of all of the fallen navi contained with in. In time of crisis ewa and or the ancestors will act.
Sounds a lot like an old Isaac Asimov story I once read... can't remember the title, but there was a lifeform on an alien planet... plant-based, and it psychically controlled all the animals... including the humans who visited the planet, making sure they blindly took spores back home with them...
Hiraghm I remember another short story like that, too. A sentient planet and a sentient moon wage a war, which the planet looses, so it sends it’s Avatar into the stars and builds a new ecosystem in the waste disposal system of a massive human space station. The story tells how the moon sends its own Avatar to ensure the planet’s extinction. Imagine if one of the sequels has Eiwa sending Termina - ... I mean, Avatars to Earth to seek vengeance on humanity.
Nuking sounds fun but with a mixture of biological weapons that specifically targeted their Geno and terraforming weapons that made the atmosphere have more oxygen not only kill the Xenos but making the planet more suitable for colonization would not only be entertained but extremely beneficial
Honestly now I fell bad for supporting TEAM NA'VI for so long I was a blind man how got tricked by Eywa to thinking that Human where the bad guys. Go TEAM RDA
RDA is a corporation, but this would be the first time in history EVER the audience finally change their minds and actually DEFEND a corporate entity. @Uncle Sam besides playing Space Marines & Space Hulk on the Amiga in the early mid 90s I'm not that familiar with the Warhammer 40k universe, if the humans dominate in Avatar 2 then ESB seems a reasonable approximation and in some ways my favourite of the Star Wars movies. One thing that's changed though is the current obsession with judgemental "messages" in tv and movies over pure fun and entertainment, might have to wait for reviews to see if those in Avatar 2 will be ridiculous.
Any reason the miners couldn't have just taken the unobtanium underneath one of the floating islands? No one would have noticed. Natives: "Hey did that island just fall?" Native 2: "Ah I'm sure its fine."
I would imagine that shouting "TIMBER!!!" doesn't help much if you are sitting beneath thousands of tons of rock which are now falling down on you as soon as you made any significant progress.
The only wrong part is that there was even a battle. Navi had it easy because they fought against corporate security forces, not an actual army. Also, I don't understand how Navi got into RDA base, it was a frickin fortress in the lore.
In a deleted scene, the other scientists who also had Avatars took arms and busted through the main tower with the mining vehicles while most of the soldiers were off in the main battle. I'm also sure with the weakened state of the available forces they would be overwhelmed, even if it was a battle of attrition the Na'vi would win anyways.
Here’s the real evil way of doing this: 1) When come to the system for the first time, go to the astroid belt of the system 2)Carry out some black ops to push a big enough astroid towards Pandora 3)Upon astroid hit you wipe out 90% Navi population and you wait a couple of month or years for the famine and plague to kill even more 4)Descend from the stars as saviors( and since the astroid drop is a black ops you convince your own people this is really a rescue mission), 5)Save the life of the rest of the Navis, house them in human refugee camps, destroying their natural way of life in the name of salvation and conveniently force integrate them into human society without any objections from anyone 6)"Accidentally" discovery some precious minerals on the lands now clear of local life and rightfully claim the right to mine them(maybe even use the surviving Navis as cheap labors and guides so they can help "rebuild" their home) 7)Getting praised by civilians back on earth for saving sapient aliens and also the thanks from Navis for "saving" their lives and of course, minerals

A better plan using the same assets (no dropping stuff from space) would be to come in from *high altitude* above the breathing range of Banshees, directly above the _Well of Souls._ The Valkyrie was a shuttle, there was no altitude limit, it could have stayed in the stratosphere and the forces could have just dropped to the maximum height from where they could accurately hit the target. And being capable of hovering would have allowed a stable platform for the bombing, increasing the range of accurate deployment. The prop craft stay as high as they can if it's less than the Valkyrie's deployment altitude and just stay out of the bomb trajectory, or if they can fly above banshee height as a flanking escort just in case. Colonel Quaritch didn't just underestimate the Na"vi, he forgot that a experienced Marine who had spent enough time with him to guess his battleplan was leading the opposition. That's when you consider that you may be facing subterfuge and adapt accordingly.
The valkyrie only needed escorted to the limit of native flight range. It can leave atmosphere and re enter at short approach send in air and ground as a distraction while the valkyrie comes in from behind
Problem with the idea of the altitude. It's a simple solution but comes with its own set of problems. The higher the altitude, the lower the margin of error. And don't forget the electronics are being scrambled by the mineral deposits. It's not a smart weapon (the daisycutters), and thus when dropped by pretty much line of sight since the electronic targetting systems are scrambled it is subject to the forces in play and can drift off target or not be on target in the first place. Thus to try to be sure, a bombing at high altitude would require saturation bombing, and even that is no guarantee. It's simple bombing mechanics.
@@victordonavon292 if you amp the altitude enought you don't even need explosives to do the job, and without even having to consider accuracy of a drop..... (pretty nicey classy tungsten rods dropped from orbit ftw) (PS. it's called kinetic orbital bombardment, and the scary part is that it is feasible concept with modern technology)
@@MehrumesDagon Feasible yes but prohibitively expensive and may be well out of RDA's logistical constraints. Remember they're operating where shipments a round trip takes over 13 years. Not to mention tungsten is not exactly a common material and is already in high demand in industries where tungsten is required to strength materials. I doubt the economic feasibility ramifications pertaining to making it economically viable even if for a one time use weapon.

@@dr.catherineelizabethhalse1820 Actually, Earth was on the brink of collapse, 20 billion humans, a lack of resources. The RDA were trying to save Earth.
Point of information: The Navi attacked the Dozers BEFORE the attack on Hometree, the home tree attack was, at least in part, retaliation for that attack.
Yeah, but again, attack on Hometree was still a bit far, especially given it led to a lot of Natives uniting. Had they attacked locals nearby, or pushed them out with smaller weaponry, they'd have gotten them out of the way without rallying the people by killing off and destroying a sacred place
@@thalmoragent9344 Hometree was the local location, and they didn't really expect that it would be a rallying cry, or at least not as massive of a rallying cry as it became. Not only that, but the Navi who attacked the dozers came directly from hometree, so while the Humans should have given Hometree a chance to hand over the Navi who killed the dozer escorts, at that point war was already declared and the two negociators for the humans were trussed up in front of the tree.
@@FoxhoundAK74 Fair enough. Still, certainly not a good move if you have any intention of trying to mull stuff over later. Plus, even the troops who are adamant about the resources would eventually still have the situation of mental debate on having to commit genocide upon a whole moon when really, they could've mined the metal like, anywhere else 😅 and not had to worry about wasting precious time or anything else.
@@thalmoragent9344 I believe the intention was to not only access the site, but also to send a shock warning, basically saying "You poke us, we poke back harder, you can't win in a fight, so don't try." the Hometree attack was specifically against that tribe though, not against the whole moon, it was likely meant to be more of a warning, not only to the survivors, but also the other tribes about what happens if you attack the humans. Granted the humans plowed a sacred site, but from the reactions of everyone involved it seems that was an accident, granted it could have been an intentionally provocation, but Quaritch at least didn't seem to act like it was. As for that site specifically, location is important, the mineral isn't everywhere, nor is it in the concentration to justify building a mine, that site probably was close enough to make transportation viable at the current colony size, and big enough to make it withwhile to build.
@@FoxhoundAK74 It just makes me wonder though, if they made peace with the Natives, how would they have gone about drilling and mining all around and under the tree without doing harm to it? I mean, surely there are other large deposits of the Ore in other places, and if a peace with the Natives was properly established, any aid in building multiple bases would've been easier. Hell, you'd think they'd want to have multiple minds running eventually, and I don't see why they wouldn't eventually build at least a couple more, so leaving that one spot relatively intact wouldn't be some event that would cause a failure in their overall goal. But yes, it was a vital resource area, you're right, but I'm just saying, makes you wonder how much of this either could've been avoided, or would've happened anyways. Just feel that tactically wise... yeah, certainly could've been done better, whether militarily or diplomatically
Very good analysis. It's important to note that a lot of the navi died anyway because the soldiers did not give them enough time to evacuate. When they release the explosives a lot of the shrapnel ended up killing a lot of them including Neytiri's father. They also showed in the film that quite a few of the navi people were crushed by the falling tree.
If they had satellite imagery of the primary target location, why did they feel it necessary to fly within the floating rock formations? The soul tree didn’t appear to be protected by any of the floating mountains directly above it, so the valkyrie transport could have easily deployed its make-shift daisy cutters utilizing the aforementioned satellite data at several thousand feet higher in altitude where it would have been far more difficult for the banshees to ambush and sustain an attack on the aircraft. Also, yeah, it never really made sense to me why they put boots on the ground for what was effectively supposed to be a surgical air strike. I’m assuming this was just to create a greater variety of POVs for the battle.
The problem with your idea is that the higher the altitude the lower the accuracy. Dropping daisy cutters from a cargo bay is not the same as dropping a smart weapon. Even with computers there is very little margin for error and once dropped the daisy cutter is subject to the forces in play like wind, air resistance, gravity, coriolius effect. Plus, once dropped the weapon cannot adjust its trajectory.
@@victordonavon292 There is way calculate a pretty accurate drop, even from a cargo bay... now, if it is the sole problem, they still can lower the altitude at the last moment to gain accuracy and still avoid the bluner to get into the rock sky forest where an ambush was fucking obvious.

This movie really just made me want James Cameron to do a Halo movie. Now, however, I'd like to see Neil Blomkamp do his take. Either way: Humanity first.
In lore halo humans were way more tactical and superior in military strategies and operations, the only covenant command shown to be more brilliant was the arbiter from Halo 2. What about the flaws in the naavi tactics? You mentioned that they could have hidden in the trees, but they didn't do that. Instead of ambushes and guerilla attacks they made a frontal cavalry charge. Not that cavalry can't be useful, but a cavalry charge should only be used to rout and mop up an already broken or at least weakened enemy force. Alternatively mounts can be used to rapidly redeploy forces to other areas of the battle, which is great for guerilla attacks. I can't see much they could've done to improve their tactics in the air though, they were just at a huge disadvantage there.
Fly higher, clear sky around the strike force would have denied the enemy their hiding place. Let the escorts hunt for targets. Close escorts didn't work in ww2 or at any other time. Here's my scenario: The orbital shuttles left at Alpha Centauri are used as unmanned drones to scoop hydrogen from Polyphemus, a small part of it is turned into antimatter in an orbiting facility to fuel the Venture Star-class spacecraft for their journey Back to Earth (all these are official lore facts). Step a: Put a few micrograms of antimatter in a suspension container to be placed in a larger tank full of hydrogen, do it with several tanks Step b: drop these containers from orbit and set the magnetic field that is holding the antimatter suspended to turn off at a certain altitude, the annihilating antimatter will ignite a nuclear fusion of the hydrogen creating a huge H-bomb (these are real facts, look for Antimatter-catalyzed fusion devices Step c: glass the entire planet Step d: congratulation, you can now mine all you want and even terraform the planet in an Earth-like way. The arrows have a smaller surface area at the tip, they're just massive spikes or like Roman javelins which are being thrown by a species who's biomechanics are greater than humans. They could build bows with much heavier draw weights on the bow that a human being couldn't hope to bend much, or at all for that matter. This should easily put the draw weight well over 150lbs and flight of their arrows at over 300-400fps. To help put this into perspective, they could fire their arrows with similar effect to Greco-Roman and Medieval armies ballista's. We also do not know what kind of metals they worked with and how good at retaining an edge (i.e. so that it didn't fracture upon impact). Lots of factors overall. Doesn't matter what level of body armour you have - you don't want to get hit by one of those arrows. The flaw in the movie is that human armour should have been advanced enough by 2154, to stop heavy impacts and dissipate the transfer of energy (maybe some kind of ballistic gel that hardens on impact - which we have today, so imagine how good it could be by then). Anyway, they had to dumb down the human milita forces for the plot to work. I like many others in this comments section had poked about every hole in the plot possible lol.
I want this guy on avatar 2 so bad. 🤣 the whole time he was talking I was imagining this broadcasting on TV all over earth. "Sully the traitor" I want that to be a thing in the sequel.
If nukes jets and other military equipment isn't in the second movie it would kinda be a let down because it would undermine what humans do to those that threaten there very existence. If this happens nowadays (assuming we have better technology) the Na'vi would receive very little if not no mercy from the true power of the the human military and the might of our nuclear arsenal.
Should have just flew the Val higher than the banshees could and just dropped the bombs from there. The atmosphere would either have been too thin or cold for the banshee riders and the Val would be untouchable.
@@mr.normalguy69 Except napalm at that altitude when launched would disperse to the point of ineffectiveness in terms of concentration by the time it comes to the ground unless you use an uneconomically huge amounts of it. And if concentrate it into a container to explode upon impact that would make it no different from normal explosives or incendiary bombs except now we go back to the situation I point out earlier of smart weapons being negated by the flux vortex and that higher altitude means greater possibility of error and lower margin of error. And don't forget, RDA was by law forbidden from having WMD's and having them in secret could jeopardize their markets given potential bad press.
@@thatguy3421 I think you're forgetting the flux vortex that would scramble alot electronics even if EMP-reinforced. And a preprogrammed flight won't work as the mountains' positions are in constant movement and flux. And if you choose to go over, then cutting engines over the target, well a few problems include but not limited to compensating for the Coriolus effect and the calculations would still be scrambled by the flux vortex so some sort of on-site manual control is necessary.
for extra hilarity: 90% of the movie is the na'vi figuring out how to steal/disable the nuke the last 10% is RDA guys going "Oh that's fine we brought a baker's dozen. push the button frank"
Presumably, banshees need to breathe. Even if the RDA forces lacked ordinance that could be deployed from orbit, they could have conducted the Valkyrie's bombing run from an attitude at which banshees cannot survive.
Y'know, I had thought that the aliens has less advanced tech than the humans, but _damn_ is their armor technology superior to ours. It literally surpasses all logic.
Oh man, I can't wait for the sequels to see what the humans come up with next. Hopefully the executives of the RDA have seen this video and are able to avoid these mistakes in the future
The film as a whole seem liked a Pocahontas/ dancing with wolfs sci-fi rip off. in all honestly Avatar the film is a big let down for a director of James Cameron's level.
@@JamesTTierce i only said what the film seemed to me, your right i did not like the political or social parts of the film. i just found it hard to care for the Navi in comparison to the Humans. i mean the humans are nearly doomed without that material, while the navi can go to another tree.
You're not giving Avatar enough credit. It takes generic to another level....scene for scene rip-off territory. Last Samurai: The hero gets separated from his people and surrounded by enemies. He wildly fends them off with a spear while a samurai leader watches. The samurai sees a miraculous sign to save him at the last second, then takes him back to his village. Avatar: The hero gets separated from his people and surrounded by enemies. He wildly fends them off with a "spear" while a Na'vi leader watches. The Na'vi sees a miraculous sign to save him at the last second, then takes him back to her village.
@@sidewinderl The ending of the film was so generic, good guys win, bad guys dead or leave. stay with natives, humans doomed. I expect better from Cameron to be honest with an ending, like maybe a compromise, or the hero losses something to win. yes he lost his Human body but that was already disabled. his Navi body walks and is an improvement. he even gets the alien booty and becomes there chief. I was half surprised he was not given magically powers either to control nature and the weather.
@@RomanHistoryFan476AD did you think of the fact that the humans try to destroy a cherished tree for their resources and even though the humans got what they want they will still finish what they started and all the aliens can leave in peace without worrying about the humans evading their planets for resources
Personally, I think that the first mistake of the RDA was that they weren't honest with their reasons as to WHY they need unobtanium when they tried to establish communication with the Na'vi. If they would've told them that they need this for survival, I'm pretty sure that things would've taken a different path.
Several other options that could have been entertained: 1. After Jake and company escape, round up and detain all scientists and avatar drivers in holding cells. 2. Shut down all operations going out of the base and shut down all external communications. 3. When a strike is planned, perform a night operation involving sending the shuttle into the area and dropping its ordinance from a high altitude while the Na’vi are asleep 4. Send in escort craft after the bomb drop to tie up lose ends (eliminate direhorses and banshees) 5. Send a craft to find Jake and company and arrest them and bring them back to base. Just a few options which could’ve been entertained in my opinion
Direct a meteor into the planet close enough to the deposit to wipe out all resistance within a couple hundred kilometers, but not enough to damage the mineral deposits, that is how you clear a landing zone.
Humanity should have used napalm to create a controlled forest fire to scatter the locals and destroy the tree. The Navi didn’t seem to have anything that would stop a fire much less contain it. All completely from the air.
I was thinking about one thing. The RDA have antimatter reactor technology which is very advanced but as weapons they don't even have something like railguns ( we already have this technology in our age), laser weapons or plasma weapons.
Except tanks have no advantage when fighting in a forest based arena. They cannot use their main advantage of mobility and use of firepower would be limited. At that point the only real use of tanks in such arena is being a shield for the infantry, something the AMP suit would be well-suited for and still be able to lay firepower more efficiently.
Actually, I think you missed the key point as well. We are talking about a space faring species (humans)...why do you need any sort of assault? To paraphrase from Aliens, nuke em from orbit...it's the only way to be sure. Except, you don't even need nukes. A large rock or other kinetic weapon from orbit on Home Tree or the Well of Souls and it's all over. As you pointed out in other videos on this, why even bother confronting these guys at all? You are talking about a few million natives on a planet roughly the size of Mars or even the Earth...there would be plenty of places with no natives at all that you could set down your mining facilities near to exploit the resources needed. The whole movie is a mess when you start to pick it apart. Still liked the movie, but you definitely need to check your brain at the door.
The Robokraken RDA is a corporation not a nation.... I guess it’s out of resource management, it’s takes month to go that planet.... but then it makes me question both side even more.... like how did the Navi not worship they humans when they literally come from the sky like magical angels? Or why in the world would humans come for JUST One mineral when the fucking trees act like super computers? I’m pretty sure Computer trees is a bonus when it comes to how Advance the humans are, tbh neither sides motivations make any sense nor seem practical....
ass cheeks you make a very good point, however this is a future were apparently mega-corporations such as the RDF can obtain military grade weaponry for their security forces; addressing your concerns about the super computer trees, these abilities can only be accessed by the Navi from their hair-penises therefore being of no use to humanity's needs other than a potential threat for RDA forces since the soul-trees can be used as a planetary communications device making them a highly dangerous and strategic item that could turn the tide of a Navi/Human war. And it wouldn't be out of a super-corporations power to purchase a nuclear bomb.
Robots Everywhere uh...colonial times in the 1600s don’t have flying space ships and clones, hell if this was realistic the Navi should have seen the humans as gods having technology that seem like they came from religions and fairytales.... but nah, SKY PEOPLE, makes no sense....
ass cheeks another good point, however my theory as to why the Navi didn't simply worship the humans is mist likely due to their "computer trees" since it has been somewhat established that these trees are sentient they could be in fact manipulating the navi to be incredibly hostile to anyone who isn't from the planet. To sum it up, the computer trees spew anti-human/Xeno propaganda, and since the navi are highly primitive and were easily amazed by a all powerful organism that could control wildlife through possible parasitic seed spores they completely believed it. However this is only a theory I could be wrong.
I really didn't get why the humans sent the Valkryie in the first wave. I would have assumed the RDA would clear out the area with smaller gunships and then bring the Valkryie in at the end to drop the bombs. Also, it's worth noting the Valkryie was destroyed not by Navi weapons but by a grenade that Jake Sully threw into one of the engines, causing it to swerve and hit terrain.
Simple: the Valkyrie forced the Na'Vi to give RDA a stand-up battle. If it wasn't comitted, they could've just hit and run the RDA force repeatedly and refused to stand and fight. With the Valkyrie coming for their sacred site, they had to commit everything they had, right then and there, face superior RDA firepower and die. Qurritch didn't really give a shit about the tree, he wanted to kill all the warriors because he knew that RDA couldn't win a protracted guerilla war.
plot twist: humans reach pandora and instead decide to mine the equally large, near surface deposit next to the navii's home tree. a settlement is reached between the two and humans continue as if nothing happened.
Well if the planet wouldn't have interviened humans would have won, so the strategy worked, specially since they dispersed the na'vi. And that is impressive for basically a security army that was heavily outnumbered, specially against Aliens 3 times bigger using portable balistas
Im sure that after the battle of pandora, Na'vi Casualties was 10× Times larger than human casualties despite the RDA's Fleet and ground forces was completely wiped out in the battle
Here on earth right now we have whats called AHEAD ammunition. It is anti air ammunition that explodes mid air, sending shrapnel all over the place. It’s practically made for this situation. Humanity knew (or should have known) to at least some extent that the locals had dragons that they could have used against them and made the ammunition in advance. The navi would have been eradicated in the same time span as a fraction of the movie. Plot armor can be a real bitch.
@@Jose.AFT.Saddulnot if used properly, a small escort that stays close to the bomber would be best with maybe more reinforcements way up high where the ammunition can’t cause collateral damage. The battle would have been a speed bump if there wasn’t any plot armor.
The Navi had no high-altitude "aircraft" and the tree was a stationary target. There was no reason for a mass air assault at all, let alone a ground assault along with it. Just take the Valkyrie - which is a spacecraft - and fly it well above the floating rocks, higher than the Navi mounts are able to fly, and drop the payload from there. There'd be nothing they could do to stop it.
So literally the entire focus of the humans could be summed up in that song that goes "move bitch, get out the way, get out the way bitch, get out da way"
I was initially thinking a strike fighter squadron of something even as ancient as the P-47s would have done that place over, but they might not have been able to run due to the lesser oxygen amounts... i would imagine the stuff they use there in the movie was specialized for the low O2 environment. But in theory, the Thunderbolt could carry enough rockets and bombs at high speeds and high enough altitudes to negate the banshees. If not, then something like a 3rd gen or up fighter. Assuming it could run.
I was 12 years old when i first saw the movie and even without knowning what going on i was like "Why are they making the humans the bad guy, why this guy betray his entire race for a blue Chick". I mean i supported the RDA since Day one.
It's a mining operation. Why don't you dig a MINE under the Tree to get the stuff? In Nova Scotia, mines extend out under the sea. Of course, EviLCorp(tm) can only do strip mining.
Strip mining is the most efficient and cost effective method. Shaft mines are insanely expensive in comparison, and would've probably killed the tree anyways. Oh and no mine in the world has a 200km tunnel
pretty much... except Custer was given heads up intel on the Sioux and their allies (numbers and positions) and the jackass ignored everything. Split the Seventh Cavalry into three units and left his artillery behind. If your scouts tell you the enemy base is five miles long (and that's just in tents). You really, really should take that intelligence seriously. Custer was a self-righteous, arrogant bastard who was demoted from general to colonel for disobeying orders. His vainglory recklessness got the entire Seventh Cavalry killed save for one horse that returned to base with an arrow in its butt (there's a photograph of the poor animal). And add insult to injury, the son of a bitch was ordered not to leave the fort and he went and did it anyway. Boy General indeed. But yeah, Avatar is pretty much "Dances with Wolves" in space.
The only problem with avatar is assuming a race of aliens who know of a technologically advanced species is invading them amd not trying to build actual weapons to defend themselves. They already have some of the aliens engineers so using them to make better weapons so they have the upper hand in negotiations should've been the Navi's primary goal after the humans left.
To sum it up, the Reconnaissance Marine didn't understand the importance of reconnaissance and forward observers.
Ironic isn't it?
To be fair the plot armour blinded their judgement

I dont understand what makes Jake think an armada wont show up. That grey rock is the key to humanity's survival, all Jake did was buy the navi a decade or two at most, they will lose eventually. If anything, he doomed the navi by forcing humanity's hand into more extreme action.
That's if human survive before that lol

@Uncle Sam Empire Strikes Back ?

Natives: "Hey did that island just fall?"
Native 2: "Ah I'm sure its fine."
it is the will of Elwa the tree
I would imagine that shouting "TIMBER!!!" doesn't help much if you are sitting beneath thousands of tons of rock which are now falling down on you as soon as you made any significant progress.
"Hmm? Must have been the wind!"
The only wrong part is that there was even a battle.
Navi had it easy because they fought against corporate security forces, not an actual army.
Also, I don't understand how Navi got into RDA base, it was a frickin fortress in the lore.
It also hilarious how they think the humans won't come back with an army and a couple of nukes to eradicate them a will
If there is no one to defend the fortress it'll just be a house with some walls
In a deleted scene, the other scientists who also had Avatars took arms and busted through the main tower with the mining vehicles while most of the soldiers were off in the main battle. I'm also sure with the weakened state of the available forces they would be overwhelmed, even if it was a battle of attrition the Na'vi would win anyways.

Here’s the real evil way of doing this:
1) When come to the system for the first time, go to the astroid belt of the system
2)Carry out some black ops to push a big enough astroid towards Pandora
3)Upon astroid hit you wipe out 90% Navi population and you wait a couple of month or years for the famine and plague to kill even more
4)Descend from the stars as saviors( and since the astroid drop is a black ops you convince your own people this is really a rescue mission),
5)Save the life of the rest of the Navis, house them in human refugee camps, destroying their natural way of life in the name of salvation and conveniently force integrate them into human society without any objections from anyone
6)"Accidentally" discovery some precious minerals on the lands now clear of local life and rightfully claim the right to mine them(maybe even use the surviving Navis as cheap labors and guides so they can help "rebuild" their home)
7)Getting praised by civilians back on earth for saving sapient aliens and also the thanks from Navis for "saving" their lives and of course, minerals
Can't run a major engineering project as a "black op". No way you'd be able to hide it, unless you just murder everyone involved. It's not like you can rig a big asteroid with engines using two guys and a toolbox...

That’s all well and good corporal but how do we contain the planets self proclaimed ‘God’? The beast has everything in a hive mind from the usb cables in their head.
I'm surprised that you didn't mention that the humans should have attacked them from space out of reach of the Navi

@@duncanharrell5009 The hardest part is reaching space, and if a corporation is able to travel to Alpha Centauri, firing cruise missiles etc. from space should be a piece of cake.

A better plan using the same assets (no dropping stuff from space) would be to come in from *high altitude* above the breathing range of Banshees, directly above the _Well of Souls._
The Valkyrie was a shuttle, there was no altitude limit, it could have stayed in the stratosphere and the forces could have just dropped to the maximum height from where they could accurately hit the target.
That's when you consider that you may be facing subterfuge and adapt accordingly.
true, if only...
@@MehrumesDagon Feasible yes but prohibitively expensive and may be well out of RDA's logistical constraints. Remember they're operating where shipments a round trip takes over 13 years. I doubt the economic feasibility ramifications pertaining to making it economically viable even if for a one time use weapon.

@@FoxhoundAK74
Fair enough.
@@FoxhoundAK74
It just makes me wonder though, if they made peace with the Natives, how would they have gone about drilling and mining all around and under the tree without doing harm to it?

Don't worry just return with like 5 C-21 Dragon assault ships and you should be good.
Ever hear of an exterminatus?
not enough were killed frankly
The humans made the same mistake that the imperials did when facing the ewoks:
Never go up against an opponent with Plot Armor
If they had satellite imagery of the primary target location, why did they feel it necessary to fly within the floating rock formations? The soul tree didn’t appear to be protected by any of the floating mountains directly above it, so the valkyrie transport could have easily deployed its make-shift daisy cutters utilizing the aforementioned satellite data at several thousand feet higher in altitude where it would have been far more difficult for the banshees to ambush and sustain an attack on the aircraft.
Also, yeah, it never really made sense to me why they put boots on the ground for what was effectively supposed to be a surgical air strike. I’m assuming this was just to create a greater variety of POVs for the battle.
the ground battle was there to justify the presence of mech for the final duel between jack and the colonel...
John Wotek yeah but let’s be honest, that would have been way cooler if that had taken place in the cargo bay of the dragon or the Valkyrie, lol
@@QuantumAscension1 Honestly, i don't know... but that idea probably did not cross Cameron's mind.

Heck why bother going after the God Tree at all? Launch diversionary attacks on the villages to force the Na'vi back then attack with that beautiful futuristic AC-130 the Dragon. Use your air superiority where they will be open and exposed and can't close the distance with their fliers.
@@lordfrostwind3151 Good idea, force them to react, and attacking their homes repeatedly with impunity could demoralize them and put them in a situation where they have to choose between leaving their fortified position out into the open where they have few advantages or stay but watch as their own homes are destroyed one by one. However. if the mob holds together under the leadership, it creates the danger that the mob can grow under recruitment until the the mob can swarm the Hell's Gate position. A potential solution for this is a two pronged operation with what you mentioned and harassing hammer slams against recruitments to discourage would-be potential additional allies from joining in.

Either way: Humanity first.
In lore halo humans were way more tactical and superior in military strategies and operations, the only covenant command shown to be more brilliant was the arbiter from Halo 2. If James Cameron was to do a halo movie, the marines better be badasses and naval command needs to be smart to not break immersion. I game ai doesnt do in lore UNSC justice, just saying.

@@ekwilliekpo667 your saying we should prioritize humanity over everything?
Neil Blomkamp is just fantastic.
One of the biggest mistakes any military commander can make is allowing their emotions and/or pride, to cloud their mind. By keeping a level head and assessing the situation, a commander improves his chances of winning a battle.
You should start every battle with a month long bombardment and after all that remains is rubble and the enemy has given up you bombard them for a few months more.

@@reetodd9103 wow. honestly it kinda sounds a bit too good to be true.
Use target and barrier caps. Use lots of smaller bombs. It is harder to intercept lots of small bombers that one big one.
But
Nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
Imagine if an actual military force would be sent to Pandora. Tanks, jets, better troops, equipment and training.
the war would be over in a day or two. Considering humans have a higher population then all the Navi plus high technology. Introduce the Navi too a small tactical nuke too one off there big trees and boom its over. Also considering the Geneva convention does not cover creatures that ain't humans well you can imagine what can happens.
Here's my scenario:
The orbital shuttles left at Alpha Centauri are used as unmanned drones to scoop hydrogen from Polyphemus, a small part of it is turned into antimatter in an orbiting facility to fuel the Venture Star-class spacecraft for their journey Back to Earth (all these are official lore facts).
Step a: Put a few micrograms of antimatter in a suspension container to be placed in a larger tank full of hydrogen, do it with several tanks
Step b: drop these containers from orbit and set the magnetic field that is holding the antimatter suspended to turn off at a certain altitude, the annihilating antimatter will ignite a nuclear fusion of the hydrogen creating a huge H-bomb (these are real facts, look for Antimatter-catalyzed fusion devices
Step c: glass the entire planet
Step d: congratulation, you can now mine all you want and even terraform the planet in an Earth-like way.
Alternatively push an asteroid into a collision course and then blame a natural disaster.
Use the lore the writers made to make a better solution then the writers
I like the asteroid one

I know this comment is old but yeah wtf I just thought of that 💀 if modern body armor can stop 7.62 no problem and some even capable of stopping .50 bmg from penetrating how tf does an arrow get through
@@slimerewoods5766 because it’s different ballistics. A 7.62 is small and fast, so a bp vest is designed against that. An arrow that big has less kinetic energy but it has a bigger area of impact and more inertia, and the continued pressure of an object that large is what allows it to pierce the armor
kinetic energy is what penetrates, not momentum. a 12 gauge slug has much more momentum than a .308 round, but .308 will punch through armor the slug couldn't even warp
to be fair it's not an arrow, it's the size of a ballista bolt
@Jacob Johnson that's an apple's and oranges comparison though, because .308 and slug rounds are shaped differently as they're designed for different jobs.

Humans betray themselves all the time so there is nothing surprising about it I say he made the right choice

Several other options that could have been entertained:
1. After Jake and company escape, round up and detain all scientists and avatar drivers in holding cells.
2. Shut down all operations going out of the base and shut down all external communications.
3. When a strike is planned, perform a night operation involving sending the shuttle into the area and dropping its ordinance from a high altitude while the Na’vi are asleep
4. Send in escort craft after the bomb drop to tie up lose ends (eliminate direhorses and banshees)
5. Send a craft to find Jake and company and arrest them and bring them back to base.
Just a few options which could’ve been entertained in my opinion
"The humans used non-lethal weapons to clear out the Na'vi from their treehouse prior to setting it ablaze." LOL
Direct a meteor into the planet close enough to the deposit to wipe out all resistance within a couple hundred kilometers, but not enough to damage the mineral deposits, that is how you clear a landing zone.
Bruh, imagine betraying your ENTIRE species just for an alien girlfriend.
Imagine you were Xenomorph, then somehow you become human and then fight against Xenomorphs
Or vise versa
Humanity should have used napalm to create a controlled forest fire to scatter the locals and destroy the tree. The Navi didn’t seem to have anything that would stop a fire much less contain it. All completely from the air.
Air in Pandora???
@@kwarrior2895 "Hey, you know the thing we did with the first big tree? it worked a treat. let's do the same thing with the glowy tree."
@@RobotsEverywhereVideos They never asked for any of this. Planet is huge get the minerals elsewhere.
I was thinking about one thing. The RDA have antimatter reactor technology which is very advanced but as weapons they don't even have something like railguns ( we already have this technology in our age), laser weapons or plasma weapons.
"Can you guys do everything wrong with The Infinity War"?
They aready did
Dude, how do you have THIS much free time? You're on literally every video.
The colonel’s incompetence of this battle probably was inspired by his fear of the enemy and desperation for victory
There were no tanks involved no proper anti air or anti tank the infantry was exposed with no proper path-layers for anything
They don't need all that stuff, all they had to do was keep distance and scan the place.
@@victordonavon292 the giant rhino things can also run over it.
@@AF-qc5vo Give the AMP suits a bigger gun then.
@@victordonavon292 still no use, the infantry should of just stayed behind to defend like what gen films said. It would be a lot more efficient.
Babylon 5' mass drivers would be an idea. Hurl a few well placed asteroids and you'd get the same result.
Personally I thought the RDA should have bombarded the soul trees from orbit, with unguided nukes or simply drop kinetic charges.
@@asscheeks3212 so was the east india company, what's your point
How about a Everything Wrong With Movie Battles video for a major Halo battle?
Maybe.. Aywah had infected the Human mind before and during the operation against the Navi, which led to careless decision-making the humans part
Well done! I love the clinical AAR style of this video.
Qurritch didn't really give a shit about the tree, he wanted to kill all the warriors because he knew that RDA couldn't win a protracted guerilla war.
plot twist:
humans reach pandora and instead decide to mine the equally large, near surface deposit next to the navii's home tree. a settlement is reached between the two and humans continue as if nothing happened.
IIRC the navii were the aggressors here, they randomly attacked and murdered workers scouting out the surface, which caused the Humans to retaliate.
@@mister_bomb7777 ah ok
Tell...the Doom Slayer that Na'vi are demons...AND BOOM THEY'RE DEAD!The only thing we would need to do is resupply him every day and yea

@@ekwilliekpo667 That's what a nazi would say.
that's what glory kills are for
No need to tell him they’re demons. He kills anything that threatens humanity.
@@ekwilliekpo667 how?
they could've launched giant hypersonic metal rods from orbit like in call of duty ghosts
Or just drop some big space rocks same effects and cheaper
Well if the planet wouldn't have interviened humans would have won, so the strategy worked, specially since they dispersed the na'vi.
And that is impressive for basically a security army that was heavily outnumbered, specially against Aliens 3 times bigger using portable balistas
This makes me appreciate avatar. Love these videos! Humanity first!!!!
Im sure that after the battle of pandora, Na'vi Casualties was 10× Times larger than human casualties despite the RDA's Fleet and ground forces was completely wiped out in the battle
Id unironically love to see an avatar sequel where the humans return with an entire fleet and orbitally bombard the na’vi out of existence
Sound like this weapon would’ve caused a lot of friendly fire in the final battle
So literally the entire focus of the humans could be summed up in that song that goes "move bitch, get out the way, get out the way bitch, get out da way"
I like yo believe that there was already a larger and more competent force on it's way to pandora, and peace with the natives is no longer and option
I have a question: how the hell some common arrows here are strong enough to shoot down a goddamn VTOL? We definitely need to bomb Pandora with ICBMs
What would happen if the Covenant or the UNSC (Halo) invaded Pandora? That would be a interesting fight, or a complete stomp. You decide.
So, it's the The 'battle' of Little Big Horn but with giant smurfs?
pretty much... except Custer was given heads up intel on the Sioux and their allies (numbers and positions) and the jackass ignored everything.
That's a painfully accurate description.
If we cloned Ethiopian and Italian soldiers from the Second Abyssinian War would have done a better job than these blokes
This is really good so far. You've earned a new subscriber. Keep it up!
