What's going on with this thing, is it working, or is it just another flop for Volkswagen like all their other electric cars? Let's snoop around in the UK owners group to find out #news #ev #volkswagwn

That vehicle should have been slightly bigger and longer with better materials, aircon also in the back and windows that you could open. A backseat that would fold down flat, a smaller battery with greater capacity, better software and a much smaller price. Then you would have had a best seller.

      The electric part is fine.
The stupid Vag group software is not. It dosen't remeber sqat. Switch a couple of things, open the door and close it and the damn thing resets it self. Even basic stuff like bluetooth can be switched like any phone this day through the drop down menue, but open door and the stupid vw enginers have decided it should reset. Same with every assist system.
The radio channels are hiden in some sub menue and it pops back to defualt screen after a short time. The hvac is hidden in a sub menue. It sometimes takes 1-2 minutes of driving before the stupid touch screen has booted.

The average person can't afford a new electric car. But there are some great used bargains and, within 5 years, the price of EVs will be cheaper than equivalent petrol cars. And it'll cost less to run, especially once repair shops switch to bring insurance prices down. EVs will be the smart option within 5-10 years for those with normal incomes.

The weight issue is hilarious. It means that if you put 4 hefty passengers inside and add the shopping, you're over the 3500KG limit applied in lots of roads, car-parks etc etc. Furthermore, drive on in Austria and (unless they've changed the rules) you'll have to fit a Go-Box tracker at the border and pay per mile like an HGV. Marvellous idea! Not.

They take weight the total allowed weight.
Not how much it's weighs at that specific moment.
When the vehicle weighs 3000 kilo's, and it's allowed to carry 400 kilo's in the back,
they don't look at how much the passengers weight.
      So it's legally still under 3500 kilo's.
I think the manufacturer wanted to stay under the 3500 kilo limit.

So summing up a typical EV. A higher environmental impact during the production, purchase cost is considerably higher than an ice vehicle. Parts such as tyres and brakes wear quicker and cost more to replace, the range is realistically 200 miles, takes hours to charge and if using public chargers they are very expensive then you'll be lucky to get 10 years before scrapping the vehicle. It will be replaced by the Townstar, but production levels will be much reduced, and a higher number of the petrol variant, over the EV variant, will initially be manufactured.
I'd also be wary of buying any existing env200s, unregistered or delivery mileage, as the proprietary Chademo rapid charging system has also stopped support at many rapid charging stations, and will become obsolete within the next five years or so. Fine, if you don't mind waiting 5-6 hours at least, to charge in future. But probably game over for a business user, or campervan. The vast majority of owners.
EVs are a bit like mobile phones, at the moment. Rapid changes, that become obsolete, with decaying batteries, that never reach their full lifetime, just getting thrown into landfill after a few years, with little residual value. Not very "green".

But it looks like one should still wait another year for the excitement to wear off and get a s/h one for a hell of a lot less money. I'm only going to rip it all apart and camperise it so having it pristine is pointless expense. But 'fairly new' is good as it's a lot of work and I expect to use the thing for at least a decade.

I don’t Know about Britain but in New Zealand we drive on beaches, sometimes for tens of miles (“Ninety Mile Beach” for example).
If that VW is intended as a surf wagon I don’t see it getting any traction here.

Thing that gets me about electric cars is it’s been done before 130 years ago and it never worked then just like it doesn’t work now so do they persist. Is it so they can push climate change which it does quite often four seasons and all that. To put it bluntly I wish it would hurry up cause the summer we’ve just had was rubbish it was warmer in the autumn great vlog 👍

When the latest Bug/Golf came out I hurried to our nearest VW dealer 2 hours away, yep I was getting a brand new bug and nothing was going to stop me, then I drove it. It kind of resembled a bug of my youth and to be truthful it was probably twice the car the 74 beetle of my youth was, but all the things that made the original so wonderful we’re gone, no whirling boxer 4 noise, no engine in the rear and spare and trunk up front, no smell of gasoline or the feel of cable operated everything and leavers that were supposedly connected to a heater somewhere, but I never ever felt any heat, no Queen Led Zeppelin or Elton John in the tape player, no best friend Mike riding shotgun and keeping a eye out for chicks. The Beetle of my youth like my youth was gone for good, no matter how good or bad this EV van is it can’t come close to being the original and that breaks my heart😏

I sat in the US 3 row version at the LA Auto show. To my surprise It can fit a 7ft driver, a 6'8 dude in the left 2nd row and a 6'3"dude in the left 3rd row. Everyone had plenty of head and leg room. The glass roof gives a lot of head room. If you have a tall family, It's got the room. (Im the 6'8" dude)

I wanted one when they were coming out to replace our T5 but the price was just too much for what you get. I went for a Ioniq 5 with AWD and nearly all the kit for around 52k € after incentives. The size is fine for us 4 plus dog due to the trailer hitch and the box you can put in there.
I had a Buzz for a week and it drives nicely and peoples reaction is positive on the street but the missing 360 camera killed that car in particular for me. Would I get one 2nd hand for a good price? Well there's a price for everything. I can't really say a lot bad stuff about it as a car except for price and missing features.
I think the Kia EV9 will give the Buzz a run for its money

It’ll definitely give it a run for it’s depreciation 😂

Vehicle to load means you can use the EV battery as a mains power source, via an adapter. Effectively you turn your car into a generator. Some of the Kias do it.

It would be a winner if they put an internal combustion engine in it.

At least the Buzz has a kitchen and bed in the back for those charging sessions 😅
