„It‘s dangerous to have the chargeport on this side because of traffic“. Says Björn while being parked on the wrong side of the road 😂
Seriously. Norway is ‘normal’ right lane driving right?
Yes!
Maybe his mind was on Thailand.
Guys, "the right side is the wrong side, It should be in the left side which is the right side but It is on right side."
The joke went straight above your head :P
For some reason I find it fascinating to watch Bjorn running out of charge and then recharging again. Cinema redefined!
I know, it’s bizarre what tripe we watch nowadays.
Actually at the same Spot like he did with the Model Y:
ua-cam.com/video/y675YCgSnlc/v-deo.html
Yeah, I even enjoy him listing his sponsors. Weird. I just think he's a generally likeable person.
You stopped the van on the left side which is the wrong side should be on the right side which is the right side if you live in a country which drives on the right side which is the right side.
Thanks for all your troubles Bjorn, watching you go through all these 1st (modern) generation EVs and their issues and knowing the better tech coming just keeps me going waiting for the better stuff.
18,4 kWh/100 - that's a very good result for such a house on wheels
No, it is just average for the class.
Great video- mamy different scenarios shown 👍
I love watching you torture exspenive, state of the art vehicles.
This was not torture at all
@@bjornnyland I guess not, it coped well.
Rule number 1 in owning an EV... Don't let the battery die or drain to zero.
Is that rule any different in a fossil fuel vehicle…?
@@bartgugelot5788 If a petrol/diesel vehicle runs out of fuel, you can quickly and easily just pour a few liters of fuel in from a jerry can and be on your way in 5 minutes. And running out of fuel won't damage the engine. Running a lithium-ion battery cell below 2.7 volts can damage the battery, and you will have to have the vehicle towed, since there's no practical way to charge it by the side of the road. If someone brought you a 6 kw generator, it would take at least 2 hours to put 20 km of range back into the battery. If you never let your EV battery get below 25% charge, it will last longer than if you frequently run it all the way flat.
@@laura-ann.0726 correct, those are some important rules for "battery" stuff, same for solar system with batteries. The thing is... we "human beings" are usually busy and adding another stress like "EV car battery rules" to be worried about is something that is not going to work well with a lot of people. Think about a single mom with 3-4 children, someone old or someone that is an owner of several businesses.
So EV makers should consider adding smart programming rules (unless they already exists) to deal with daily human brain farts and to avoid getting the battery charge to 0% and/or keep a reserve.
@@bartgugelot5788 With my petrol power tools I deliberately run them dry when Im finished using them to get the fuel out of the carb for storage.
@@laura-ann.0726 running out of fuel can cause premature wear notably in the fuel pump
Doesn't the park brake engage in neutral? Or do you manually disengage it to freewheel?
Also, is the parking brake based on the friction brakes, or a locking mechanism on the drivetrain, or both?
Thanks for the video, Bjørn. You have a new subscriber. I am very interested in the VW ID Buzz. I will watch all your videos. Have a nice day.
Love your dedication 💓
"kWh/h" - units of pure WV engineers 😄
Haha, man you are so funny and at the same time very serious with the tests.
Thanks for another good video.👍🏻
Best cliff hanger of the whole saga. 11 out of 10, would recommend.
17:12 - LOL! ID SOFTWARE? John Carmack was there! Confirmed!
Your german doesn't suck, it's on point in this situation! :D
Grüße!
10:22 🤣🤣🤣 love you Björn 🤣😉
He is still out there charging ...
...and fully enjoying the experience. Those EV people are irredeemable...
Every carmaker ever: Lets build a 60k€ car, but lets put a 50$ android/cpu unit in it for the genuine 1991 Windows 3.11 experience.
that laggy touch interface is awful
3.11 was actually quite fast on a decent machine, this is more like win 11 on intel atom
You need to put one of those luggage thingies in the trailer hitch and then stop by harbour fright and buy a small gas gen set to help you along. You could then putt-putt down the road.
Björn: “naa we don’t need to test all the ID cars, there are all the same”.
Me knowing VW has there software/updates not under control 😅
They changed the BMS with 2.4 the smaller 🔋, with 3.0 they changed it for the larger once (apparently there are two different types of he 77kwh pack) and by looking at your BUZZ tests, it looks like the changed something again.
And yes, I would love to have that charging speed in my ID.3 Pro S 😁
Higher DC charging speed usually means higher degradation overtime. So do you really want it?
@@mr.wizeguy8995 Sure, there’s no point have the pack lasts forever. 10y is fine, then can start at second life.
My God! What a load of utter dribble!! 🙄
40% less moving parts in the drive train but 65% more expensive than a car with a conventional engine. You are being robbed where you stand! And don't come off saying it's new technology still in its infancy. Batteries have been used to power vehicles for more than 60 years.
@@gromit3315 don’t worry about it, keep calm and carry on :)
It is good to try this out...
But not the best place to of been stranded...
Power banks are great, but i dont think those will fully charge your battery?
A fast charge is what you need....
I m still weary of Electric cars...
I will stick with Petrol or Diesel for has long as possible...
Think its best not to go lower than 4% before u charge it next time & fast charge should not take too long....
Informative Video thanks😊
As already shown in the video, this is the best place. And you don't need to fully charge the battery.
Hei Bjørn!
Hvis det ikke var for dine videoer om denne Buzz havde vi aldri turdet at køre batteriet helt ned til 7% på vores ferie! Takk!!
How do you get the battery information on your phone screen please?
X-boost only works for simple resistive loads
That 3 second delay on infotainment its a deal breaker
Hei du som har litt erfaring med den nye buzzen hva er meningen din angående å bygge om/bruke den som en camper. Plass bateritid når den står i ro og lignenede
11:04 I've seen Level 2 charge as low as 188 VAC single phase on my tesla in US and it had no issues charging.
Why not put a charge port on the inside as well? People carry battery banks for their phones and add fuel cells to gas cars. Why not have the same thing for EVs?
Bjørn: parks on the wrong side of the road
Also Bjørn: complains that the charge port is on the wrong side (which is the right side because its the right side)
The joke went straight above your head. lol
ABC- Always Be Cautious about Björn jokes.
@@bjornnyland yeah, probably because it wasn’t funny 😂
Good test nevertheless 👌🏼
@@toughkix6910 Yeah, he is not funny, just very chaotic with him changing his plans all the time. He's all over the place. Very annoying.
How long does the battery last on the driveway with a full charge at 17c in the snow running a TV, kettle, ninja?
Best off having solar panels on the roof
Bjorn, you're also standing on the wrong side of the road with the Buz, the charging port is on the right side if you're facing the right way.
The joke went straight above your head 🤣
Hi Björn, does the heating in the rear seats work well? Where are ventilation outlets?
"The battery is dead, DED"
…awaiting part 2 eagerly. You know it’s going to be coded to allow you IN to the red turtle mode as capacity drops, but not let you OUT until there’s a higher threshold reached. Let’s hope the difference is less than 2 ecoflows worth.
What was the actual range achieved before it cut out?
Only Bjorn knows, and he not saying.
YOU WERE PANICING.
You've answered my question on getting one...NO WAY
10:35 YOU parked it on the wrong side of the road!
Man, I love this van. Perfect for a big lap of Australia, camping and holidays
Yeh and now you can have an electric "jerry can" for tight spots!
Good luck with that. Literally one charge station in all of Australia.
@@Wolf-yw7en hahaha. There's heaps of 3 phase at show grounds and industrial sites
And you gonna what your gonna use to charge it 😂piss and beer?
Pack in a family and their luggage then how far will it go? I would love a petrol version of that van 🙂
I have a Ecoflow mini in my smart fortwo ED just to have a option to charge when battery is dead. also i have a "granny-charger" that has a 6a charching opting since the ecoflow-mini only outputs 1400watt without xboost.
also have a solar panel I can charge the ecoflow with but the charging port for solar only allows 300 watt :(
but hey, its a little extra
"We have to bring out the Ecoflow. We charged for half an hour it's apparently not enough..." * Three Hours Later.. * 😁😁
Electric cars are the future... apparently...
Will the Ecoflow chargers work on a Tesla ?
Can i use apple carplay or android auto in the id buzz?
Are you just charging the hazard lights? 😊
I want a Buzz, but wouldn’t want to run out of juice.
You know what these things cost? They're very expensive, way beyond the reach of the average person. And for that you get free range anxiety.
Watching you use the Navigation compared to a Tesla... It feels painful to watch. How does it compare?
This app is car scanner?
Its Schildkröte in german :)
is there really a 'good' side and a 'bad' side for the charge port? There are situations where you best charge the car on the right side, other times on the left side. They should be placing one on BOTH sides (it's only electrical wires, not so difficult). It would also create a standard for all countries, whether you drive on the left or right side of the road.
The point is your charge port and driver's door should be on the same side because when parking in small spaces you always leave space on that side. If the port is opposite the driver's door you have to leave space on both sides of the car which may not be possible.
Though personally I like a nose-mounted port they don't work well for Bjorn with snow and ice being kicked up by other cars and freezing the port shut.
@@CampGareth correct, but it is certainly not a universal solution. In many cases charge stations are put on a regular boardwalk. When you park (let's say on the right side, for most countries) your charge port would be located on the side of the road. So you have an open charge port and a cable hanging on the side where cars are driving on the road. For me personally it would be a good solution having it on the driver's side (left) or the front as my car stands very near the right wall in my garage (which is what you explained). My point is: every case is different, so car manufacturers should recognize this and put in multiple charge ports so owners have options. It's mostly just electrical wiring you could easily find a place for in the chassis. You can argue it would add to the price, but do we really know now what we're paying for each part of our car? If we did, I imagine we'd be surprised that some hardly used gadgets we think are super cheap, cost a lot and we'd be asking the car industry to get rid of them. Also this: it would benefit car manufacturers as customers take this into consideration when they're buying a car, thus eliminating some cars because of this.
I believe Audi e-Tron (the big one, anyway) has charge ports on both sides.
@@DrStrange1966 yes, I believe so. There may be other cars too. The fact they did it means it is possible and they found it useful too. As I explained, when doing research on the EV I wanted to buy, I had to eliminate some cars just because it was too impractical to charge them in my garage (and I will be charging at home for 99% of the time like most people, so that's a very important issue). It blows my mind that car manufacturers don't seem to recognize this.
I think you'll need to get the 'State Of Charge BMS' over 4% before it lets go of the "turtle" 🐢because that charge was around 4% when the vehicle reported 0%...
No. It was 5.6 %. Check in the video.
@@bjornnyland well, that doesn't bring back the joy either :D
11:00 And rightfully so of Tesla, the limit should be 230V + or - 10%, so 197 is too low.
How much are those back up battery power packs
The Delta 2 Max is 2100 euros and the Extra battery is some 1500
Ioniq5 zero mile test + "preheating to DC charger" video would be very useful, probably over 50k views?
Bra eksperiment :D
10:30 normally you park on the right side of the road when your car is broken right?
You didn't get the joke, did you?
@@bjornnyland Oh, ah, I didn't I guess.
An little observation... In Spain according to road regulations, maybe I think European regulations too, at least in Spain it is a crime to run out of fuel on a public road, if you meet a police officer they will fine you, . Another thing would be a breakdown, in cases of breakdown they do not fine you. Because it is the responsibility of the driver to have the vehicle in optimal conditions for circulation on public roads, driving with a low battery is an infraction, since the vehicle does not comply with minimum safety, it is no longer safe on the road. For this they denounce you, at least in Spain.... Yes, drive in Spain sucks.
9:35 Hilfe! Mayday Mayday 😜
Stupid behavior of the Ecoflow. Imagine you have to go somewhere and only can take the main battery with you. Imagine the main battery is alsmost empty and there is like 40% in the secondary battery that you can not take with you.....
How did you find out the battery is death ?
Watch the video and you will find out.
Why come nobody is driving gas cars to empty and then keep driving until it stops? How is it different than this?
You can damage the engine in a fossil car.
your german is awesome :D
Danke Schön!
How many KM did he do? What's the real world range?
Watch the video to find out.
10:10 Well you're at a right hand drive country, you obviously should have stopped the car on the right side of the road, not the left side...then the right side would have been the right side and not dangerous at all.
Forget EV vehicles
Hybrid is the way to go✌🏼🏴
Are you doing this on a demo car?
Is it allowed to park on the wrong side of the street in norway ?
Yes
Maybe you could make the same test with Volvo C40, this should be very bad - it's limiting power even at 10% SOC so at 0% I suppose it would be a snail or a rock.
2200w draw and 1800w charge is poor 80%efficiency, but probably due to low current
"Daumen hoch" für Dein Deutsch 🙂
Nothings up !😮
What happened to the battery when it runs out of "gas"? 🤣🤣
DOUBLE ECO!
Man, that instrument cluster looks cheap😂
Thanks for the thumbnail!
To be continued? That was only twenty minutes, shiiii... Anyway, you sure know how to make bricking adventures fun; thanx BN.
Part 2 is 15 minutes long. If I post a 35 minute video, many people will be afraid to watch it because it's too long.

Im working on a gasoline conversion for the VW Buzz... will solve all the problems.
The chargeport is at the right side, you are on the wrong side of the road. You are not in england. :P
And suddenly the merit of portable liquid fuels dawns.
A small plastic container, 2 minutes and you are off.
10:37 Min.: You are really accusing the car maker after stopping the car in right-hand traffic on the left side of the road?
The joke went straight above your head 🤣
@@bjornnyland You forgot the 😉 .
Great so i have to carry around a charging system because the infrastructure to charge it isn't there. makes sense !
Nope. This was a test. Normal people don't need to carry around with the test equipment...
Did the battery actually "die", or did you simply run the vehicle until the battery was fully discharged? There IS a difference.
Watch the video to find out.
Why don't we see tests of petrol / gasoline cars driven until they run out of fuel ?
I think that's the problem you can't go too far into the negative, because the software doesn't think you have enough power. Unless you get 1%.
What a cliff-hanger, can't wait to see how this adventure ends... 😅 But a great test to see how the MEBs behave, and to know it's best not to run my Enyaq that low, ever. (5% is lowest I've had to go so far)

Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!!! (BABBVEN LAWS AND TEBBVEN ORDERS)!!!!!!!
