Surplus Firearm Market Report (WW2 MILSURP DEAL?) Gun Show Experience Military Arms Collecting 2024

  • The military surplus firearms market is getting crazier by the day here in 2024. Prices continue to skyrocket, and finding a good deal feels like searching for a needle in a haystack. However, I did manage to bring home an interesting little milsurp piece from the latest gun show. When I spotted this WWII German-marked Czech Vz.27 pistol, I knew I couldn't pass it up. This .32 Auto handgun may not be the ideal example, but I think it's a welcome addition to the collection regardless. Despite insane gunshow prices, finds like this are what keep me coming back. I was also shocked to see a full crate of Mosin-Nagant rifles still packed in cosmoline. It felt like stepping back in time a decade.

    Svt40, I always wanted one and remember when in the $1k range on gunbroker 😢..Our G show 2 weeks ago actually wasn't crazy busy ..I picked up a siam contract gew71 "original mauser"for $65 and was tempted with a japanese murata for 170 but was missing trigger guard and crack stock but still a very rare rifle. Most prices were crazy but seem to recall a m44 mosin for $350 and not sure why I wasn't all over that. Nice find with the cz27 ..I think you will really like it. Love your videos & reviews and always send to a friend who's been buying cheap royal tiger imports too. So I feel there are a couple big factors affecting the milsurp prices. 1) they’re old milsurp, so inherently there is a finite supply for an ever growing collector base, people are going to begin outbidding each other driving the prices up. 2) people see prices rising so begin holding onto what they have to maximize their profit , meaning less on the market which in turn drives the prices up even further. 3) people turn in rifles to police buy back programs essentially removing them permanently from the market, as most buy backs destroy them. And lastly you have people with expendable income who don’t care what it’s priced at but have to complete their collections

    Welcome to the WW2 German Pistole Club. Just recently bought a 1940 P-08 Luger made by Mauser. Someone refinished it to a nickel finish, had to replace the trigger spring and the right grip panel was loose, so I put repro grips on it. However, I set the original grips aside because all the parts are numbers matching besides the mag, which isn't surprising. Despite these issues, I bought it because it's a good shooter, and it was only $700

    I have a friend that has a soldier bring back. It's a K-98 dated 1943. The rifle has matching serial numbers throughout the rifle, yet the bolt has a whole set of different serial numbers. The story is that when a village or small town surrendered, the soldiers would remove the bolt and stack the bolt in one pile and the rifle in another. If a soldier wanted a souvenir, they would pick up a rifle and a bolt from the pile. That accounts for the different serial numbers.

    • @ronschramm9163
      @ronschramm9163 Місяць тому

      It was also done at various factories as well. After the war, rifles and other firearms were simply disassembled, cleaned, repaired or refurbished and reassembled from whatever part was in a pile of parts, and then coated in cosmoline.

    • @noapologizes2018
      @noapologizes2018 Місяць тому

      @@ronschramm9163 I failed to mention that he also has a Russian re-arsenaled K-98 and the serial numbers are all different. He said the Russians dismantled the guns; hard blued the components, and reassembled them. The serial numbers were never taken into consideration.

    • @matthewjames4334
      @matthewjames4334 2 місяці тому

      But is it actually French ? A lot of the regular iebar Spanish rubys get passed off as French
      When they likely never saw french service…
      Quickest fastest way to tell is if they have the slide rivet on the left hand side. To cover the safety from being tripped by holsters…..
      Battlefield one came out. And rubys went from being a $200 pistol to around $500 and in some cases I’ve seen almost $1000……..

      @matthewjames4334 Yes,mismatched mags can be an issue. This pistol, which is a GN manufacturer, has an AG marked mag. Normally, I would be concerned, but during overhaul, the S/N was applied to the magazine floor plate.

    I pulled my Mosin Nagant out of the crate on my 18th birthday back in 2000, it was 59 bucks with a fucking coupon from Big 5 here in California. It's a 1943, M44 made in Izhevsk, no arsenal refinishing, no nothing. It took awhile to get the decades of cosmoline off of it, and clean it properly. I've slowly pieced it back together, by finding a cleaning rod, the tools, clips, and sling. I treat it better than the commies that had it before me, and I'll be taking my son out this weekend so he can shoot it like I did on my 18th birthday, although a bit more complete and the ammo isn't 7.25 for 20 anymore, or 50 bucks for a spam can.

    I purchased just about all of my military surplus rifles and pistols 25 years ago or more. A person has to be crazy to pay these ridiculous prices especially when a lot of these firearms are junk. As long as people keep paying these ridiculous unjustifiable prices, this is what's going to happen; more ridiculous prices. I go to gun shows hoping to find a reasonably good price on something but I rarely ever do. In 1992, I purchased a 1903 A1 Springfield with a C stock. Price, $275.00 {still have it}. That was a while back I admit, but it was a reasonable price.

    Gun shows are a waste of time and money. The milsurp game is over now that investors have driven prices through the roof. I blame it on all of the WW2 video games in the past 25 years or so. They’ve created whole other generations of new people interested in milsurp that otherwise would’ve never given a shit about it.

      Absolutely correct about WW2 video games and the newer generation.

      More people getting into guns through video games is a good thing.

    You have to remember they were using slave labor, taken from the work camps at the last years of the war, also late P38 can't hit the broadside of a barn, some had no rifling OOPS.

    It's your money do what you want but if people would stop buying this overpriced junk for we'll say 3 months or 6 months the prices will come down. So let these crooks rip you off

    I am NOT buying any more guns to add to my collection because I CAN NOT SELL THEM. The price of Collecters firearms should be ZERO today because of the new Congress law on being able to sell your firearms only with an FFL License.
