i get why 'that riff' is so popular, it goes hard af, but honestly for me what makes this song so good for me is the riff during the start of the song, it feels unreal
Though "the riff" is absolutely bad ass and one of the strongest points of the song, I feel like people tend to give it too much attention and overlook the awesome guitar solo at the end of this song. Seriously has to be one of my top 5 guitar solos ever, such an amazing way to close out such a stellar song and album. It's honestly a little too short and I wish it were just a tad bit longer, but I'm glad we have what we have it. Blows my mind everytime.
3:26 when Brent sneaks up on Brann to make eye contact with him and make him smile. These guys really are all best friends and they love what they're doing. So cool.
I feel like these guys kinda saved each other, all 4 of them, by creating Mastodon. Knowing their stories, they would be in totally different places right now if they never met. That special bond is surely what makes them so incredible
If this was taken in Austin….. I was there. First time hearing the entire Crack the Skye album live and first time hearing The Last Baron live. Great album and great song.
"The Riff," as it's called, only gets to be as epic as it is, because it's the only straight 4/4 in the song. But, because it slays so hard and is fairly simple, it's the perfect point of musical rest to reflect on the epicness you've heard thus far. Appreciate the journey, appreciate the riff. :D \m/

this tour they played Crack the Skye start to finish co-headlining with Coheed and Cambria, it was incredible.

Yeah that solo is just 🤌
I think that jazz breakdown in middle of the song is the highlight tbh.
The entire song is a masterpiece from start to finish.
It's amazing that they play this song live this smoothly.. Absolute beasts.

I hope that Brent quits from doing drugs.
