One of my instructor alway says: there are 2 kinds of pilots, the ones who have landed with gear up, and the ones who will.

Speaking of which, We have a guy who lands A LOT with his gear up. This time he scrapped his whole nose. Somehow he didn't have anything broken and walked away good
My dad flew over 5.7K as a private powered pilot. The last planes were Cessna 210s. He never landed ever with wheels up. He had his checklist he followed every time. He was consistent, always. Once though, it was winter and he was landing at a well known runway for him, Grande Prairie in northern Alberta, CA, and like usual he would land right on the numbers. But this one time, the snow drift at the end of the runway was so high his wheels hit the piled snow. He pitched over and his prop struck the surface. He reflected to me later, that it would have been as stupid as a wheels up landing for him to crater his plane right on the numbers. Would have been an interesting report: Pilot error crash due to repetitive habits.
I'm not always following German dialog, however the "Uh Oh" from your bystander is quite universal. Thanks for all your videos and I share sympathy with your fails. We are human and that is what makes us fun creatures world wide.
How boring this life would be if we were all perfect!
At least German, Dutch, and English are similar enough to sort of understand

Very good. This year I landed gear down in a Pilatus B-4 in a very rough grass strip. A bit of hard dirt bounced the glider enough to snap the gear up. No damage but the sound in your video is what it was like. Embarrassing to have 3 people help lift it to put the wheel down. But that is soaring. To a good rest of 2021 and all of 2022 for you and the world.
So glad I'm not the only one who has performed a wheel up landing.... Ah the smell of hot fibreglass on dry grass... The memory never fades.
I learned about fixation" one day while setting up for a perfect landing and being informed by my instructor in the back seat that I was about to land on a drag strip which was so beautifully paved but unfortunately not where I was to land which was the little asphalt strip adjacent to the drag strip. Fixation she said as we were really running low on energy and had barely enough left to make it over the six ft. chain link fence at the end of the runway. "Aim right for the fence she said and pull altitude just at the last minute and you'll be fine. We made it successfully and I was able to barely land at the glider port strip.

Stefan when that touchdown took place and then the sound of the rumble and I'm thinking ewww that sounds like lack of a wheel. I hope the glider wasn't damaged too much and it was an easy repair. Thank you so much for all the great vids. I'm sorry I missed you in Utah, let us know when you come through again I would love the chance to meet you. Have a great and safe time my friend.

I have a question that I have been thinking of why do not sailplanes have a attitude indicator?
I saw that you where flying over the clouds and if you get into the clouds you will be in serious problems and lose awarnes on what is up and down in just a few seconds.

@@louisdresse8650 I already paid for Condor 1,Condor 2 makes all of my scenery obsolete.I could not see the justification for paying for it all over again,so I dumped it.

@@louisdresse8650 Aha,there's the trouble,I'm a flight simmer not a glider pilot but when everything is normal I often visit Lasham gliding club to watch the gliding for an hour or so.Unfortunately last year was not the year thanks to this lousy pandemic..............
Here to remind that it's happening soon, they are officially adding gliders in the next update.

My dad just retired with over 30,000 hours and not once landed with the wheels up.

When you buy an old wodden wreck: for free up tp 1500 euros. when you want an wodden glider you can actually fly:2000-7000euros the first good gfk glider coast with trailer between 10.000 and 30.000, and buying an new glider more than 100.000 up to half an million

dem Segler macht das meist nicht viel aus(das meiste kann man rauspolieren),aber das Gefühl muss schrecklich gewesen sein
Ohne Fahrwerk gelandet? Jeder macht immer ein Pre-Circuit Check. Rad, Wasser und Flaps. Rad - immer drausen. Wasser - haben wir noch nicht. Flaps - kein Flaps. Wieso ein Check vergessen?!

How do you land an early LS glider with the gear up? The gear handle is right next to the airbrake handle. You can´t deploy the airbrakes without noticing the huge black handle in the way of the blue handle. >I have flown LS gliders for more than 30 years and one of the things I like the best about them is their cockpit layout. You just dont forget to deploy the gear.
