Unfortunately I did not have enough time (nor faces 😅) to try out all the different types yet to provide a full review for each product.
I have based my knowledge on the ones I have tried (which I have loved) and the information provided by the brand, therefore please understand that the product may now work exactly as described.
Regardless, every persons skin is different therefore even the same products may show different results.
I hope that this can at least be an introduction/guide to Hada Labo Lotions - especially if you have been curious to try them out (or J-Beauty in general)!

Hey all!
I have an updated version with the repackaged/reformulated Hada Labo Lotions here → ua-cam.com/video/qB_WU1Jg1yI/v-deo.html
Make sure you watch before asking any questions because I may have answered them over there 😌✨
Hi. Can these products be mixed together as look like they are for different skin problems? And which one can be mixed and which one goes first?
Let me tell you a secret about the red bottle - the alpha lotion. I tend to get 'strawberry skin' or 'chicken skin' on my legs (which are always the driest part of my body, especially in winter - technical name is folliculitis is keratosis pilaris) and the stuff in the red bottle is AMAZING at keeping that at bay. It's akin to using alpha hydroxy lotion (I believe it has that in it - another article I read about the variances between the different lines mentioned this specifically for the red bottle) and when I put that on my legs after a shower, especially after shaving, it keeps my legs nice and smooth and is cheaper than other items targeted for that concern.
Do you think that would work for KP on the backs of the arms?
Wow thanks for sharing.. I will try it out as well.
WHAT AMAZING INFO! I actually struggle with this on my legs as well so I'll have to try it - thanks for sharing!!
Hada Labo has the AHA+BHA range, baby blue bottle colour (not shown in the video). I used it on my shoulder, chest and arms (great for body acne and KP).
I think it's amazing that these kind of lotions that are meant for the face might actually be cheaper in price than the targeted keratosis pilaris products. I have used lightly peeling toners for my chest and arms for a while and they work really well. So many toners have AHA, BHA or both but since they are meant for the face they are never too harsh for the body.
Another tip for caring the rough spots (or just to treat skin areas in anti-aging purposes) on the body is to use a cheap retinol such as The ordinary 1% retinol in squalane. You can dilute it to a toner so it spreads easily. I have used retinol to spot treat my boyfriends ezcema patches on his legs and arms and they healed totally after 4-5 applications. He's not using retinol otherwise. I applied it twice a week undiluted and topped it with Illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream. There are no recommendations to heal ezcema patches with retinol but I tried it and it worked.
As an oily skin type, I'm sad you didn't mention the green bottle for blemish and oil control because it's SO GOOD and also my favorite out of all the hada labo lotions.
I have oily skin and been using the Premium hyaluronic acid (gold bottle) since 3-4 years ago and my skin loves it. It lasts forever, I even using on my legs after shaving and before moisturizer.
May I ask which moisturiser you use please?
@@amyk9813 Right now I’m using Soap & Glory Magnificoco Drop in the Lotion. But usually I buy the Body Butter at Trader Joe’s.
how do you use it? Sorry i am just starting to getting into this type of skincare line
yes, i also have oily skin and i love the gold bottle one! it feels great on my skin.
@@user-px2ot How? I also have oily skin but it feels so greasy on my skin.
Hadalabo Premium has always been my favorite as I have dry dehydrated skin. I also use the Shirojyun Premium Lotion. When my friends would go to Japan they always bought the refills for me. I always use Japanese sunscreens too, they are far superior to any American sunscreen.
Hey, am looking for a new sunscreen after Biore changed their formula from a matte to non-matte one. What would you suggest?
@@s.w4325 may I ask which moisturiser you use with the HA premium please?
@@amyk9813 Ah, I think you have the wrong person, it's Corliss that uses HA premium.
@@s.w4325 sorry yes I did tag the wrong person, I hope I didn't inconvenience you!
@@amyk9813 No worries about it, hope you get your answer!
You did such an incredible job with this video! I like how you broke it down into two parts, as well as giving us non-Japanese speakers/readers tips to look for on the bottle. Thank You!!!
You’re like a living translator of Japanese skincare. Really god bless you 😂😂😂
The best guide to choose Hadalabo lotions ever. This is what I need. Thank you!
This is just what I needed! I've been dying to try more hada labo and this is so helpful!
This was so helpful as I've been baffled by all the Hada Labo lotions and understanding which one does what.
I start using hadalabo lotion as my first ever hydrating toner in 2012/2013 haha (that year, they release this product in my country). And I still use this on my daily basis
Can you please please tell if the new version of them is worth buying? Because I saw many people complaining that they changed their formulation and people are breaking out from it
I'm so confused if I should buy or not 😢
@@bellajackson5574i use the facial wash and their lotion (shiro and gokyu, not the premium one). didn't experience a breakout. But not lying that their facial wash didn't feels the same, not as gentle as before (it gives a little bit tight/dry (?) feels on your face. It never happened with the old version)
@@bellajackson5574 @bellajackson5574 i used their facial wasj and lotion (gokyu and shiro, not the premium one) i didn't experience a breakout. But not lying that their facial wash didn't feels the same, not as gentle as before. It gives a tight/dry (?) feels after using it. Never happened before with older version
Ive tried goku jyun regular and the premium one and as an oily skin type i actually prefer the premium one. You can really feel the difference as the skin gets super bouncy ✨ also one bottle last forverrrr totally worth it!
Isn't the premium one too heavy for oily skin?
I have oily skin but as winter is coming it has become so dehydrated ☹️
ive been interested but im so worried it will be too heavy and make me break out with CCs
I use the blue one with arbutin. Amazing. The red one is also great but it's not that much more hydrating considering the more expensive price.
I was looking for a review and guide like this for at least a year! Kisses from Brazil!😘
I live in Japan and have been wanting to get into Japanese skincare. I have seen Hada Labo out in town at the Don Quixote and grocery stores! Now, I am excited to pick some of these toners out next time I am out. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Ahhh so helpful, especially when you compared the consistency in the end. I have the hydrating light lotion, but I definitely crave more hydration. I'm still confused what is best for my skin, if I should switch to yellow or if I should stick to white, maybe put the milk on top of the lotion. I'm excited to try, now that I know how amazing hadalabo really is. First time I saw them in the store I was put off by their packaging. So happy I didn't ignore them for too long.
I wish I would’ve seen this video before I went to Japanese beauty store today. I saw these and they immediately caught my eye.
Oh I am so happy I discovered Japanese skin care.... Hada labo was my first introduction to the products...Just love them.... extremely difficult to chose the perfect consistency....so glad I discovered this channel...greetings from the Netherlands
I’m so glad you mentioned not using a cotton pad with these! I’ve been using it wrong😑😩 You’re so helpful Tina, I love you!!!💜💜💜
Your face really glows Tina... not only does it look healthy, it looks like porcelein. Thanks for explaining. It pretty hard to differentiate one product from the other.
hi tina. i have been binge-watching your videos for more than a couple of weeks now and this is the first time i’m dropping a comment. although you have posted this video a year ago, i believe that your content won’t age at all. i’m a beginner to skincare and i just recently purchased hada labo goku jyun light not knowing i bought the light version. 😂 now, i have my eyes on the shiro jyun because of its ingredient arbutin (oh how did i know that?! well, because of tina!) thank you for your thoughtfully created videos that keep us (your viewers) well-informed. will always be looking forward to your next videos. please don’t ever get tired of doing what you do. you are simply amazing!
Tina, this video was helpful. Can you do this video with Hada Labo creams, please???
And emulsions too!😊
I love this brand so much, used it for about a decade in Taiwan. I was given it once at 7/11 for half price as a reward. Since then I never stopped using it. I will surely continue buying it in NZ...Arigato!
Hi where I nz do you buy this ?
@@aaliyahx5081 they don't sell it here, but on ebay or from sites in Japan.
@@lanaconstanti-nova6379 okay thanks :)
I dont even know how many times i have watched this video haha i finally ordered my blue bottle and it’s being delivered today. So excited. Thank you Tina!!
Ooo how exciting! hope you enjoy it 💕
I think I will use all of them at once so I can look like a baby
Your channel is literally why i love UA-cam! You are so knowledgeable and very easy to relate to and understand! ありがとうございます 💕💕💕💕💕
I got premium shirojyun and just realized that it's probably regular one haha.. it's a bit more watery than rich versions I think.. I didn't even think it's different... Thanks for this info!! 🤦🏼♀️😅
It happens 😭😭 but still a great product!
This is the perfect guide. But why do I feel like I need all of them now :D
Straight forward information, i love it! I’ve been looking for products to get rid of hyperpigmentation, this video has just convinced me to get Hada Labo’s Brightening Lotion. 🖤
Hey! So some people have pointed out that I missed one of the Hada Labo lotions in this video (sorry!!) so I will leave the info below:
[Green Bottle] Medicated Gokujyun Skin Conditioner
Targets: Blemishes/Break outs
For: Acne prone/Oily Skin Types
Key Ingredients: Licorice Root Extract, Coix Seed Extract, Houttuynia Cordata
surely the packaging must be confusing for Japanese speakers as well 😂 thank you for the lovely video💕
Not gonna lie - it's not the easiest 😂😅
And also ur a gem for showing the difference between the rich and light in texture and explain ur experience 😘
Hada labo 😭😭😭 i miss japan coz it's so cheap there. The advantage of buying them here in sg is that they are sort of required to translate their packaging to EN.
Buy them online (best is Shopee), rather than at physical store... the price difference is so much. I regret buying at Guardian 💸
This is the best breakdown ever!!! I will forever use HadaLabo in my regime!!! I use the gold bottle, but I can't wait to try the blue and red bottles.
Thank you for this, I’ve always been so confused about which one to go with!
About the refills - I actually found out recently that it is way more difficult to recycle those plastic pouches vs regular plastic bottles. So I stopped buying refills of some other products, too. Apart from that - very informative and helpful video as I was actually trying to decide which Hada Labo lotion to buy and it can be sooo confusing :)
Oh what, really? That is such a shame... thanks for letting me know though!
@@TinaTanakaHarris Yeah I know I was shocked too :/
Awesome summary for each HADA LABO Toner, Tina!!! The most basic is what started it all, but the Premium and Shirojyun (either bottle) are my favorites. Life-changing..thank you, and stay safe!
素晴らしいレビュー、安全を確保してください!!! ✨
ありがとうございます!and you toooo 😊♥️
There's more actually, medicated gokujyun(acne treatment) , kouji treatment(fermented rice based), kiwamizu hatamougi(blemished and oil control) and sha hydration (same with premium gokujyun but with 7 HA). Just a few more that I know and try.
Been wondering about this forever, thank you!
These were one of the first asian products I ever used along Nameraka Sana when I lived in Japan and love them. I have tried all the Hada labo toners so far and liked the premium whitening one best, followed by the regular whitening one and the premium hydration one (yellow bottle).I'm using the Premium whitening one at the moment :)
Are you using the rich or light version of the premium whitening one? Would light version be better for oily skin?
@@cassiecandle5950 I have very dry parched skin so I always go for the rich ones, but for oily definitely light is better
I got to empty the Hada Labo Light Lotion and it was such a good starter for my night routine after cleansing. It's such a good product in helping the skin get prepped up for the next step to be absorbed easily!! I actually want to try another one, but I still have so many toners in my skincare queue lol
These Hada Labo products are the most confusing, lol! I also just learned that the Shirojyun Premium has a milk/emulsion variant, and lotion. AND, the lotion has two types: Light (pink sticker) or Moist (orange sticker)! I went for the Moist one since it's suitable for dry skin. I'm still using it as a toner step, but Picky app labeled it as moisturizer! So again, it's really confusing, lol!! 😂
I have the premium hyaluronic acid it last forever, the first time I used it I didn’t use moisturizer on top and my skin felt like burning 🥵. That has change using the moisturizer on top, I am loving it!
Very helpful thank you 🙏
Wait so you still need a moisturizer after applying Habo lado?
Every time I watched Hada Labo review all of the reviewer have good skin its tempt me to buy one already😅
I have olive skin and tan so easily (like, step out into the sun for 10 minutes and I'm already developing a slight tan). Trouble is, given the green tone of my skin, I tan gray, which makes me look like a corpse. Shirojyun has honestly been such a life saver for me as it brings my color back to normal. Amazing stuff, seriously.
Loved this! Subscribed! Living in Asia is so much easier when we have guides like this ! Thanks!!
Definitely the video I've been looking for yearsss! Thank you for this girl 😭❤
There are a lot of hada labo lotions.. here in my country (Malaysia), there re only the Premium one for the brighterning line so far, cuz I never see the normal one. And luckily they have english name & also stated ‘light/rich’ version too. For the hydrating line, from what I understand, the Green Box beside the big Japanese name at the bottle is the light version while the Red Box is for the rich version. Any hada labo lotion that stated Rich version is better for those who have dry skin/combinatiom more to dry bcause its thicker and takes time to absorb, which means it will stay longer on the skin & wont make the skin dry more.. while the Light version is for the oily/combination more to oily skin bcuz it lighter & absorb to skin faster, which means it wont block the pores to make the skin breakout, thts what i understand from reading on internet & watch some other videos~ i just sharing some knowledge that i got btw, hope it will help a bit.. oh ya, can u do a video on the Hada Labo Peeling lotion??
People keep asking me about the peeling lotion but I am unsure what product? I'm wondering if it's not a regular product in Japan but they have it on international stores since I have not come by it on the Japanese Hada Labo site!
@@TinaTanakaHarris oh my ? Really? 🤣 from what I know, its a chemical exfoliators i think? Bcuz of the AHA+BHA acid(?) 😆
I also have all of this product and adore all of them :) during last 3 years It is my favorite lotions particularly Shirojyun Premium (Rich) and Gokujyun Premium, I recommend it to everybody! It is amazing stuff without any smell... And yes it is help to improve my hyperpigmentation. Thank you for new details and translation.
I am planning on buying the hada labo lotion tomorrow and good thing I saw you're video and this helped me a lot what to buy for my skin. Thank you for this video 😊
Thank you for your helpful information. I have been confused about which hada labo lotion to purchase and this instantly answers my questions. 😄
Thank you so much. I’ve been using these product for years and although I love them , now I know what is best for me!!! Much appreciated💞
Thank you for this video ! You’ve introduced me to Japanese skincare 💖
You are the best ! Thanks for the video explaining these. I recently bought my first Hada Labo lotion recommended to me by someone. This makes it so much easier !
Hi Deepika, I live in India. Where can I buy this lotion and how much does it cost in our Rupee? Which Lotion wud you recommend? I live in North India and have oily and mature skin.
This is low key my hyaluronic acid serum. It just does the job exquisitely
honestly, the rich versions feel/hydrate like some HA serums I've tried so you're not wrong 😂😍
I just did the shopping to buy Hada Labo in Stylevana. Hada Labo is my all time fave hydrating brand . I used to buy heaps in Japan. It's so easy for a dude like me, i just slap it on my face after shower lol. I happen to almost finish my last bottle. Anyway, , thanks for the discount Tina!
Nice! I am glad you're taking care of your skin and these are definitely an easy was to do so 😊 and you're welcome!
しっとり word is very useful to select one . Thank you so much 😊
Japanese moisturizers for acne prone skin please! 💓
So helpful! Thank you for deciding this for us
Life Savior. Thanks for decoding the many Hada Labo lotions!
Really great, informative video! Also, this makeup look is so pretty!
I just came across your channel and loved your energy! I've been intending to try out Hada Labo for a very long time but couldn't simple navigate myself. Thanks for the review!
I can’t wait to try the facial wash and the lotion .crossed fingers of getting baby skin again! ❤️❤️❤️.BTW you deserve an amazing feedbacks for commenting and liking all your comments!!! Never seen one like you that really into your comments and replied each and everyone!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Aw thank you! I can't always get everyone but I try to get back to as many as I can! 💗
O M G! The full collection! I can't wait to go back to Japan and buy the whole collection from each line! 😍😍😍 Love the thumbnail ❤️👌
Haha I was wondering if the thumbnail was too plain so I am glad you liked it 😍
I'm happy I found your channel. I'm looking for the one with arbutin that I can use in the day, toner and moisturiser. I suffer from pigmentation 😔 and I have dry skin. Nighttime I use retin a.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH😭😭😭 I just wanna try hadalabo but I'm confused as there are so many variants
Thank you for this review. I just ordered 2 Premium bottles bc of you. Can’t wait 😝.
Idk what I would do without you Tina 🥲. I can’t express how much I love your Japanese beauty videos. There’s no one else on the market, and I’m glad we have you 🥰
ahhhhhhh you are too sweet!!!! thank you for you super kind words 💕💕💕
Great video! Just what I was looking for. Feeling less confused now. Thank you!
Amazing video, it really cleared some things😅 i have the arbutin rich lotion and i really like it, but i think i’m gonna go for the light version next time💙
Ooooh, pressing it into the skin!! I thought it just reacted weirdly to the pyungkang yul essence I use!! Oops, thank you 🖤
I feel like the Hada Labo Shirojyun lotion rich version feels so similar to the Pyunkang yul essence toner. Both are so rich that one layer is enough but if you put more you'll get a sticky face...both are wonderful for the winter time to make the "hydration sandwich"❤️
@@noora7773 oooh thank you, I might try that one out!!
I've only tried the gokyojun range minus the premium one when I was in my late teens-early 20s. I've combo oily skin but I actually kinda dig the sticky finish lol weirded me out at first but it grew on me so when I tried the light version I wasn't so pleased with how it feels lol but I guess the light version will work beautifully when you have to layer other products after that.
I've to get my hands on the shirojyun and gokyojun alpha next!
Haha I wished I liked the texture more!! haha I got used to watery toners but a lot good ones these days are a bit more viscous so I need to get used to the texture again 🙃
This did help. Thank you. I did have to watch this video a couple times but it is helpful, so thank you
I love Hada Labo!!! Thanks for featuring these Tina!!! Hopefully you could also feature the Kiwamisu line and also introduce us to Japanese serums. I only knew Fracora placenta and Obagi. Only got to use Melano CC serum. Your channel is really helpful for Japanese skin care enthusiasts like me! ❤❤❤
You are really pretty & your skin make me jealous
Really helpful video❤️❤️
I have heard that they added Lactococcus/Hyaluronic Acid Ferment (Hyaluronic Acid Ferment Filtrate) in all of their versions in 2020. If thats so some skin type are gonna have problems specially who cannot tolerate fermented ingredients in their skin😕.
I was wondering if they had updated the formula when they updated the packaging! Thanks for the info ❤️
Just discovered your channel and really pleased! I started to use curel but for sure I ll try hada labo!
this is the best review ive found on hada labo!! 💕

I love Hada Labo shirojyun premium
i thought they have another range with green bottle for acne range... Not sure if they have discontinued but I noticed that green bottle a few months ago in Watsons (a drugstore brand in SG)
They do,I have it right now but I don't know if it has been discontinued or not or if the website she has a discount for just doesn't have it.
Yes! I believe they still do - I am sorry I missed it 😅 I'll post a comment on that one and pin it so people can see! thanks for letting me know 😊
