I had a bootleg of this group and lost it! Great band ! Remember watching Brecker going through a box of reeds complaining about how soft they all felt. Anything of him playing live brings back great memories.
What are you talking about? We just saw Danish guitarist Jakob Bro at The Village Vanguard with Joe Lovano on sax and a great rhythm section. Jan Garbarek has been on tour most of the year. (With the incredible Trilok Gurtu on percussion).
Felt exactly the same way! As a musician (and) a video editor, I was appalled they would cut out such important parts. Notice how they keep reusing the shot of Marc looking up all dreary-eyed... it's like he had a man-crush on Michael, even though he probably looked up once for a cue or something. Otherwise... good stuff. I ripped this off a DVD...gotta grab these things while they're still available. Glad you liked it.
Remember when bass desirees come out, love It and since than thought this Song Is son to Black Market a kind of variation on that Jozy's theme...quite evident indeed
Crumb's patch on the guitar synth not too unlike Pat's own classic 'trumpet' patch. But to be fair, Abercrombie's is a bit more percussive - almost like a touch of 'steel pans' in that timbre.
Abercrombie gets some really interesting sounds out if that set up. Is it just a regular 12 note scale guitar? You can hear his influences from Indian music
I hate it when they ruin great music videos by being "artsy" or whatever this is supposed to be. If I want to see street scenes for Japan I'll look them up.
Awesome reinterpretation of Marc Johnson's classic Bass Desires composition with Michael Brecker and John Abercrombie as an excellent frontline
Brecker -" one of a kind"
Abercrombie's solo is so beautiful
Abercrombie is an true artist on that guitar
Tfunkize is always
Yumm. Very nice and a good reminder of the great jazz happening in the 80's.
Evrybody was young and happy in the 70 and 80`s- Happy and free days man.
John abercrombie- a monster in many ways
very sad Abercrombie is gone now ! Huge loss !

Get it together y'all.
Thanks
Eternal Abercrombie's grace. Wonderful
Yep... Peter Erskine.
love peter erskine
this is a praise groove and brecker is owning big league.
Outstanding from all of them. Erskine is one of my favourite skin ticklers.
Drummer Adam Nussbaum came up with the title to this tune.
Wow. Hope that's not a sashimi story.
I remember buying current events when I was 17,my mates thought I was weired.Marillion was the trendy band at the time!
awesome
❤️
Love the tune but replacing footage of the GOAT Brecker with stock footage of Asia? Who thought that was a good idea??? Unforgivable.
I totally agree. I hate it when they ruin jazz videos with "artsy" nonsense.
haha spot on.
Great stuff, seems such a long time ago. At a time when jazz was healthy (and so was the economy), we thought it would never end!

LOL! 9:24😆
Great tune! sounds a bit like Weather Report / Joe Zawinul influenced. Abercomi has always been one of my favorites.

As an aside... that temple in the video (Kyoto) has a couple hundred deer.... ripped a hole in my shirt trying to find food.
Great music, great performance, really lousy video. Thanks for posting though!!! The music alone makes it worthwhile!
i think the stock footage enhances the video. at least we dont have to look at marc's mullet that way.
日本の画像ひでえええええwwww。 サックスもギターも超1級!! 素晴らしいとしか言いようがない!!

So much nicer without schofield
Idiotic remark. Abercrombie would step on your shoes, if he didn't have more pressing concerns out in the cosmos.
avaboot, I definitely agree with you. John Abercromie is much more delicate than Scofield.
@@chipstern R U the bassist from Mangione?
Though Abercrombie is an all time fave I really thought Scofield together with Frisell owned this tune!
