2:00 “When food is finite you’d be surprised how much time you spend thinking about it.”
To anyone who has ever experienced poverty to the point of not knowing when, where, or how you will get your next meal, this line is too real. If this describes you now I hope you find something that inspires faith that things will get better. Sending you positive vibes.

I am glad teachers are portrayed in a better light in these clips. Public schools are looking like a challenge at the moment, and thats putting it nicely.

I really wish they would have kept the food finite scene in the movie

Sandra did a great job portraying Leigh Anne Tuohy. A woman that always wants to be in control. Sandra put Leigh Anne in her place, though, a couple of times during the filming of the movie..

@@ghostsofVTurbexSkysthelimitvid When Leigh Anne told Sandra to get a life Sandra responded with "Since I'll be portraying your life for 3 months, you need to be careful with your comments." IMHO, Sandra was the best woman to portray Leigh Anne Tuohy.

I found this movie as offensive as "Driving Miss Daisy" in terms of stereotypes: spunky white lady saves the day for poor, black child.

My favorite of all time. The teacher's attitude and love for teaching and seeing children reach their potential was the most impactful for me. Yes the family helped but the teacher gave Michael the opportunity to express himself in a safe space.

If you found this movie to be offensive, then you found their real-life story offensive. It's not fiction, it was *their story. It's not about stereotypes, it's about love.

@@cacatr4495 That's not what the young man says, who's story it is. The post release interviews were enlightening.
There was also a bit of a scandal as it seems there were similar "adoptions" of black high school athletes who were then sent to adoptive parents'alma maters to play ball. I wonder if there would have been a story if the teen had been average size: not football or basketball material...just a kid.
Mainstream America rarely does anything altruistically. There needs to be a payoff. I love it when people say helping others makes you feel good about yourself...which lies at the base of American philanthropy. Here, the family looks good, the school got a football player and the young man got an education he was able to make use of, which is not always the case for athletes.... especially if they get injured.

Your claim, in your first paragraph, is not what I've heard Oher say of their adoptive family. I suggest that you listen to Michael's own words in short videos I have saved to my movie playlist. Your second paragraph was covered in the movie, and doesn't pertain to Oher's story, per Michael's own words. There are always people who find fault with goodness, who mischaracterize it as being something else, particularly trolls and narcissists.
