Something I wanted to note, this comparison is solely for the previous Yugioh anime! I'm not trying to make the case that the girls of SEVENS are amazing from an entire anime perspective, because I don't think that they are. But from a Yugioh anime perspective, they certainly are well above what we are used to IMO
The title and thumbnail is so misleading. I genuinely thought you're going to talk about waifu material or something Lmaooo. Great video tho! I do agree with most parts of the video
Studio Gallop: mistreating girl character. Studio Bridge: make girl character a great development. *See the difference? You can’t tell me Gallop is not sexist*
I think the saddest part about this is that what they're doing isn't anything revolutionary to what's out there nowadays...they're just giving the girls more time to show their skill, personalities which then allows them to be more fleshed out and breathe. Imo Gallop was so scared to change their formula so bad, that the only way for things to change would only be with "new blood" and ideas.
Oh I 10000% agree. I am solely analyzing the girls of sevens in comparison to the other previous YGO animes. I completely agree that when comparing them to mostly any other anime, there isn't anything special or crazy about what sevens is doing
That's true. Studio Gallop had a formula for how to do a Yu-gi-oh series that became repetitive over time. That alone does not remove the bad taste that Yu-gi-oh had 20 years of wasted female characters (Pokemon, whose anime is not a big deal when compared to other anime, has had better female characters since the beginning of its series)
it is good to know that the yugioh girls in the seven anime are not 1: brainwashed 2: turned evil 3: trapped in another place 4: erased from existence or in alexis's case all of the above
Well...there _was_ one brief moment of mind control, but at least wasn't with the 'lead girl' this time. When it comes to possession/brainwashing/whatever, there's been a guy that's been controlled much longer than that one woman.
We’re still only 40 episodes in so I’ll personally approach this topic with caution, but it’s undeniable that Sevens has done a big contribution to stop the curse of the yugioh girl.
@@YugiohEverything On that point: it wasn't until the infamously fallow period of Arc-V that that trope reared its ugly head. We're not out of the woods 'til it's over.
I have to say its not just the female characters that got better writing in this series- it's ALL of them- even the one-off characters are actually memorable and enjoyable which isnt something I can really say about the other yugioh entries
True. As much as I love Zexal, the treatment of side characters was pretty bad. Did any of Yuma's closer friends besides Kotori and Shark (and Kaito) really matter? And many characters were just there for one episode and gone the next.
About the girl characters ? He totally agree. Studio bridge did really good job. It kinda makes me wonder if this makes girls pick up rush duels in Japan more ? I’d say that bridge handling the girl characters in similar way that they are handled in Cardfight vanguard. It’s awesome to see that finally yugioh does give proper treatment to them. I wish that they won’t change this treatment later in the show. It’s really good that we have female and male characters that are getting fair treatment. I’m really I liked the bracelet girls but Arc-V really destroyed them as characters. I guess the same could be said about Aoi zaizen, Asuna & Akiza. It shame that many characters that had so much potential went uninitialized.
It's funny that Princess G was a background character (or a minor one) and, with just one episode, they were able to give her a personality, a development and a motivation. Sushiko, on the other hand, was present from the beginning of the series and had the small contributions of him to the group (along with other secondary characters, especially in the Yuga vs Nail duel). They, in a single episode, showed that the Sushi girl is also a skilled duellist and that she is not only a pretty face.
Eight months later and Romin managed to defeat Roa, Asana beat Neil (and Tiger) and Tiger also defeated Yuga. Not to mention two new relevant girls with Yuka (part of the Goha Siblings/Presidents and who defeated Romin) and Nanaho (Ranze and Rinnosuke's cousin) where the former was one of the antags in the 5th arc while Nanaho is currently an antagonist. And unlike Asana and Yuka, she is way more evil and actually has fun messing with people. There's also Kakoko and Umiko but since they disappeared after their duels (and didn't win them) I don't put too much thoughts into them tbh. Oh, and now we even have Yuga's mother so Mimi's finally not the only parent we get to see properly lol.
I absolutely 100% agree. As much as I love some of the previous Yugioh girls such as Aki, Rio, Serena and Aoi, they were treated poorly later on in their respective shows. With Yugioh Sevens, Studio Bridge has done an incredible and phenomenal job with the girl characters. This is what we've been waiting to see for a long time. Each of them have different yet unique personalities and traits that make them incredible and such a joy to watch. All it took was 1000 episodes and a change in studios for it to happen. Hopefully Studio Bridge continues doing justice and keeps treating the girl characters well. Awesome Job Dylan. Keep up the great work. #RominEmpire #BadassTiger
Izayoi had a good start in the first half of the show, only for that bird [expletive deleted] Crow Hogan to steal her spot as the tertiary protagonist, and Rua's deserved spot as the 5th Signer, then she gets downgraddd to benchwarmer in the second half and never recovers.
Sevens is currently the strongest show regarding Females and minor characters. Both really get a lot of development and attention. Girl characters prior had following issues: Brainwashing, couldnt duel at all, were cheerleaders or all of the above. Which is just sad, because they had potential and were thrown away because no real reason
I'll never forgive Zexal with the fact that Kotori's VA was already a fan of the game, and they didn't take advantage of that with her character _at all._
5:41 I don't think it should count as mind control. She's just mad to a point that she doesnt even realise what she's doing, thats just poorly controling her emotions.
Let's be real; even if Gallop _had_ ever pulled the trigger on that, you know that character would be misused, abused, and mind-controlled by their spirit partner more than Season 0-Yugi.
I know that people like that SEVENS is lighter in tone, and I do too (wouldn't have it any other way), but I do hope that we see this level of writing for female characters against a more serious backdrop next show.
I am glad that female yugioh characters are actually done well so far in yugioh sevens. I still think that Anzu Mazaki aka Tea Gardner was a female character done well in yugioh, and she's still my favorite female character in all of yugioh.
I honestly don't disagree with that. I know a lot of people don't like Anzu but I always felt like she fit her role really well. I always liked her a lot!
It was never the problem that she was 'merely' a supporting character. The problem comes down to 1.) a minor point, maybe, but the fact that she's molested and leered at as much as she is, going even back to the original manga, and 2.) the fact that the best female character treatment _only_ comes for women that never aspire for anything more than that. And they still get attacked/controlled.
There's no way people are going to be upset at this for too much right? it's a valid argument So far, YuGiOh Sevens has: Avoided the brainwashing and possession joke. I never had a problem with Romin's berserk mode because A) it was a power up that she had earned herself via training, B) she used it on her own and beat Arata, C) it was something they made clear she had to overcome, and D) for fictional sports series like YuGiOh, character development and wins need to be in sync to feel natural, which is something that plagued Aoi. If she had a rematch against Spectre and Ai, it definitely would've helped her character, but Romin started out as a novice compared to every other girl, and she's made strides to the show's tagline: create your own roads, and Romin's journey on that has been so strong so far. YuGiOh tends to give us cool girl secondary's to contrast. Mai was good, but a lot of her wins were from the anime only arcs and it did flesh out her character (she beat Pegasus and Joey to be fair), Sherry, but again offscreen duels, Anna and Kathy were engaging characters but only Anna had a win and that was in a tag duel, Serena ultimately had more wins than Yuzu, and Emma had character development but wasn't allowed a key win. Tiger fit exactly what Kari and Mai's role as a cool big sister that could mentor the other duelists and be a strong dueling rival, but she actually got a solid win to prove it. After all Mai lost to Joey, then Yugi after earning herself up, beat that dude who tried to force him to marry her, and then lost to Marik even though in a normal duel, she would've won. A lot of people are going to negatively compare this to other anime, but it's been a problem for YuGiOh as franchise. Like until Boruto, this was also a problem for Naruto for the longest time. If I were to compare the two, Naruto's problem were that the girl's development was only shown at the beginning and the end, and YuGiOh's problem is that between Alexis and Aoi, they had strong starts, but the writers never bothered to finish their storylines in a meaningful conclusion (aside from Akiza but still.) And for those that are suddenly asking why this is a problem, think about this from a writer's perspective. Why can't a bunch of men write a girl and give them a story, wins, and proper development like the other guys. Give the show a chance if you haven't. For all the #NotMyYuGiOh comparisons, this show does a lot of things right and plays with a lot of the tropes we've used to see, love, notice, and groan at in previous YuGiOh series.
It's hard to say which is historically worse: Yugioh wastes far more women in a wider variety of contexts, but Naruto wastes many of the _same_ women over and over and over.
I haven't even seen the rest of Sevens but for some reason I always predicted Romin would be treated better than the past female leads, even though everyone's first thought on her was that "She's wasn't going to be a duelist." What I DIDN'T expect was that this wouldn't be exclusive to Romin as a character as Sevens. Glad to know the show exceeded my expectations. Still gonna be wishing my namesake was done better!!
Yuzu Hiragi: WORST. TREATED. CHARACTER. IN YUGIOH. EVER. The brainwashing, the sidelining from deuteragonist to damsel, the development plummeting to zero, the kidnappings that outdo _Mokuba's,_ the emphasis of such from her counterparts' similarly painful treatment, the manga reducing her to Kotori-lite and giving her the most banal role any female character can ever have, and *WORST* of all: Her being called _"Zuzu Boyle"_ in the dub for the sake of a stupid reference!!! WORST. TREATMENT. EVER.
Right you are, @@christopherb501 ! It'll never cease to baffle me how they went and "ended" Yuzu. After all, she was one of my main draws into Arc V, an active character that was allowed to get character development & be a badass up until they just decided to tie her up with a plot that wasn't benefiting her or anyone (especially the bracelet girls) at all.
@@YuzuMelodious And the head writer in the latter, fallow two thirds was a regular episode writer before that! _Including_ the first two episodes, including the one where Yuzu beat Yuya! _What the f*** HAPPENED?!?_
@@christopherb501 F for Yuzu. Actually, F for the bracelet girls. Despite being plot devices, they seemed more than anything objects that moved the plot and not characters themselves.
I think that's because everyone in Sevens is awesome because how stupid the series is and not taking itself serious. I freaking loved the duel with that alien drill girl and the massage chair and their interaction between thumb vs. quality massaging engine.
Please I’ve been watching since the days of Kids WB, I’ve been wanting the girls to be treated better since Mai! And yeah 20 years of this, Sevens shifting them to actually feel like fleshed our characters so far that aren’t sidelined is a good thing
@@sxwriter8569 I keep wondering why we didn't have a female rival up to this point (I mean, Studio Gallop had it easy to make a female Kaiba). On the other hand, we've had female villain attempts before but they were wasted or forgotten. Mimi is a rare case where a mother (which is rare in itself) has a lot of participation in a Yu-gi-oh anime.
@@brunosanto3488 Yeah, I like how between Roa, Neil, and Asana, they each have elements of Kaiba: Roa’s relentless nature and pride, Nail’s intelligence and desire for improvement and learning, and Asana with her company and morality.
2:30 Gods do I hate that image. I know it's meant to evoke "horror" given the circumstances around it, but at this point in historical context, all I can feel looking at it is disgust. I know the production was having a hard time of it, but what they thought they should fall back on...was brainwashing young women. Again. In spades. For no effective plot purpose. And Yuzu didn't even get one more duel in _this_ state. Just...foul.
I feel you made a great case for the girls in the show because they actually feel INVOLVED with the events. I might wanna catch up on Yugioh 7s if the writing is really good. I just was a bit put off at the animation change and change of dueling but I'm willing to give it more of a chance after this. I was rewatching 5Ds first 64 episodes and I noticed how involved the girls felt on that season when compared to something like duel monsters or Gx. Aki's duels in that season were honestly some of my favorite duels and it just makes me more upset that she wasn't considered important enough to even duel Goodwin at the end of it despite having more screen time than someone like Crow (who isn't bad but I just wish Aki wasn't shafted cuz Blackwings or whatever it was) and I really just loved the immediate duel between Carly and Sayer (I'm sorry I forget his sub name) right after Carly becomes a dark signer. It was cathartic to see someone put him on his place. And Aki vs Misty (both duels) had some of the better interactions in my honest opinion.
Sevens is indeed doing a great job with its treatment of girls in YGO. Let’s hope they keep it up without them suddenly going off the rails. Remember, shows like 5DS, Arc V and even Vrains almost broke the trend of poorly handled women in YGO early in their run before spiralling down into subpar or unsatisfactory treatment. Please learn from Gallops mistakes Bridge.
Yeah, that's exactly what I saw it. 5d's, Arc V & Vrains being the 3 shows that looked like they were going to avoid the the cons with the female leads up until the unfortunate yet inevitable dissapointment. As much as I liked some of the previous series, I hope Sevens doesn't tear itself apart with its characters as it goes along.
Well with the studio change and writers, that might change for the better. I still really enjoy the previous anime despite their certain directions and treatment of some women, Sevens at this point is atoning for the sims Gallop made with flying colours. To be honest, I still miss the original animation style and master duel, Rush Duels have grown on me and I’ve been buying some boxes recently. Maybe in YGO 8, they’ll go back to focusing on the master duel formula. Just out of curiosity, how popular are Rush Duels in Japan right now. Are they selling well and are people playing them?
@@bladersmosh from what I heard from Entame on one of their Sevens Ups stremes, Yugioh Sevens has been *very well* to the point they moved it back so more kids could watch it easier in Japan. So by extension, I believe Rush duels are also doing quite well
Iirc, 5Ds' got female characters got screwed over because A) the one female character in the show that joined an evil cult had it's ACTUAL VA outed as a cultist irl, so the animators had yo maneuver the original story to avoid controversy and B) Akiza was supposed to be Yusei's competent dueling partner but this was spot was stolen by Crow because his Blackwing cards sold *really well* irl so they had to feature him as a signer (he was supposed to become a dark signer and die) and dueling more.
To be fair, Carly in terms of 5D's got shafted due to her JP VA being involved with that cult. If that wasn't a thing, I think her character as a whole would've stuck around for longer and more prevalent instead of like you said, being a comedic character. I just finished watching 5D's and to see Carly go from this very in depth, facing death, overcoming death and accepting it to hiding in Jack's trunk thing with all those gifts.....yea not a good change
Exactly; she was one of those cases that basically everything involving the character was forgotten solely due to real world actor drama. Nothing wrong with the anime just some real life stuff .
Honestly, my first thought that Sevens was going to be another Zexal. (Not hating, just that it was something new that not everyone is going to like.) But after 41 episodes, I must say that it’s phenomenal. The characters are fun to watch, their quicks makes them relatable. I would say more but I don’t want to repeat what’s already been said. So I’m going to continue watching Sevens for the foreseeable future.
Zexal is very similar to Sevens, but Sevens manages to differentiate itself from Zexal. Yuga is not like Yuma. Yuga is not the best duelist but he is a skillful strategist and someone who is capable of leading a group if he was put to it by his cunning. Romin is not like Kotori. Romin is not a full-fledged duelist either. Her dream is to be a guitarist and she has supported Yuga's group on several occasions (Although at first she betrayed them for Roa)
Thing is, VRAINS wasn't bad. Its premise was interesting and could deliver something amazing. Unfortunately, they could not order their plot well, shape their characters or adapt to the internal problem that Studio Gallop had at that time.
Tbh You're not wrong. 5D's, Arc V and Vrains or just simply all of the previous series had their chances to deliver some great characters that just happened to be female. I specifically named 3 series soley because I just thought the characters they had seemed prominent in their own way, plot or character wise. Then again, I didn't watch GX out of all the shows. So I'll hold my own judgment on Asuka later.
@@YuzuMelodious Best Asuka Tenjoin is the manga one. Tho if you want a character that _isn't_ a dude being handled well in GX...you'll be in for the long haul, but there _is_ one particularly interesting one worth watching the show for, especially with how they impact the protag...
@@christopherb501 The only girls who mattered in GX were Asuka and Rei so that's almost as bad as in Vrains having only Aoi and Ema getting more than one duel or attention in general.
It was a gift from Yuga (the main protag) for Romin (the main girl) since she's a guitarist and also plays duel monsters. So a duel guitar is a pretty good and unique idea.
Aki and Serena are my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! girls of all time but even then... I'd be surprised if _ROMIN_ specifically won't join those two as my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! Girls. See, despite how poorly the former two were treated in the end, the impact they left was still felt. And their designs are also top class. Say what you will about SEVENS and its style of narrative and artstyle... As someone who (again) has AKI and SERENA as their favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! girls of all time... Some of these new girls feel like they could soon be among those two as favorites. I just hope the studio doesn't pull a fast one and all of a sudden, they get treated just as bad as the ones before them. That would... Honestly be super disappointing. And I KNOW I'm not alone.
(In a Studio Bridge meeting room) Studio Bridge Employee 1: Ok guys. It seems that Konami gave us the task of making a series of Yu-gi-oh. The problem is that Konami itself did not tell us how to make a series of Yu-gi-oh. Studio Bridge Employee 2: I only have vague memories of the DM and GX series, but I think they have released more series. I suggest watching all of the Yu-gi-oh series to get a better idea of what a Yu-gi-oh series is. Studio Bridge Employee 1: Great idea! Ok guys. Priority: see all the Yu-gi-oh series to know what makes a Yu-gi-oh series a Yu-gi-oh series. (A few weeks after watching the Yu-gi-oh series) Studio Bridge Employee 2: Ok. We have seen all the Yu-gi-oh series and I think we can draw conclusions from the characteristics of a Yu-gi-oh series. A Yu-gi-oh series is not a Yu-gi-oh series if it does not have the following: - A tournament arc - A character of the archetype Joey and Kaiba. - A focus only on the main character, his best friend and rival. - A final villain in the series who wants to destroy the world. - Intense card duels where the result is death - A moment of mind control or brainwashing (Especially female characters) - A main female character who is not relevant or is sidelined in favor of another character. - A group of forgettable secondary characters - A dark, complex and crazy plot. Studio Bridge Employee 1: Yes........ We won't do that. We are another type of Studio.
They really take the good old list and burned it till ash. Very creative way of building the char and plot. I still couldn't decided whether I should considered Luke the bestie or the rival
Now yes, leaving the joking and sarcastic comments. It feels strange to see a video where the female characters are spoken well since Yu-gi-oh is not characterized much by that. Now yes, about what SEVENS presented to us in the mass about female characters. Romin: The series makes it clear that she is a quite skilled guitarist and has her own rock group called RoaRomin (Romin is also a duelist, but makes it clear that he is not a hobby unlike Luke and Yuga: something like Tea). Romin also has aspirations and dreams that are alien to the things of the protagonist (Elements that we could see in Tea and Aki). Her Berserk mode is very similar to the unleashed power of Aki's Black Rose Witch (Interestingly, they both lose this battle mode later in the series). Asana: Yu-gi-oh's first female rival (I don't say so, her descriptions of the series in Japan say so). She is quite unique among all the rivals: while the other rivals have some problem with the protagonist, they are bitter and sometimes they are believed. Asana is quite friendly, she is not bitter, she gets along well with the protagonist and respects him too (For typical Yu-gi-oh rivals, there is Roa and Mr. Proveniencia). She is also one of the few antagonists who are not 100% bad (In fact, Asana is a good person who only stands against Yuga for saving her legacy) Tiger: It is one of the few cases of an independent, rude and aggressive girl in Yu-gi-oh (Similar comparisons would be Serena and Anna). She is described as a great duelist by Luke (A similar treatment to Asuka, but here only Luke believes that her sister is a great duelist because he never wins against her). She also she is one of the few people who has defeated Luke, the invincible, in a canonical way. Mimi: I think she is one of the few adults who actively participate in their respective series. She also she is one of the few female characters who achieved her goal in a short period of time. She is the closest you could get to brainwashing in SEVENS. However, so far, she is quite well and is independent of what President Drone says (I'm sure the only evil thing the Drone is doing with her is that it is taking her salary for being a terrible Goha president) Ranze: It's funny that she is present in the series from the beginning, but she only had development or greater participation in the third mini-arc of the series. Ranze's involvement is something Luna must have had during her series (Not to mention Ranze has more duels than Luna in just 41 episodes). I could talk about the other female characters, but I think those five are the most relevant when it comes to female representation in SEVENS.
8:45 Another milestone with Tiger? First older sister of a character to win a duel on-screen in the anime. Unless I missed something with a female twin that's the older twin, first big sister to win. EDITS: implied below.
There's Ageha from the OCG manga but when it comes only to the anime, I think Tiger is the first older sister. (Idk if maybe Ishizu could be counted too since she had to win locator cards to be in the top 8 from Kaiba's tournament)
As we’re approaching the first tournament arc, let’s make a prediction for duels the girls could go up against. I’m predicting... Romin vs Sushiko round 2 Romin vs Roa (a duel that could go many directions and I good opportunity to advertise the new card they might use from the newest RD box) Romin vs Luke (in my opinion, she should be the one to give him his first onscreen loss) Luke vs Tiger Romin vs Princess G (that’ll nearing Sevens conclusion I think) Mimi vs Yoshio round 2 (a fight for son to save mother from Goha should something happen to Mimi) Ranze vs Gakuto or Rinnosuke round 2 (1 v 2 or individually) That’s all the ones I can think of right now. I want Nail to duel again but his account has been terminated so I’m not how that’s gonna work. What do you think? Anything else you can see happening with the girls?
I would love Rook vs Tiger especially since Tiger's the only so far who has beaten him and maybe this would also develop their relationship since Rook is so easily scared of her, that's not always funny imo. Romin vs Princess G has to happen at one point, same for Romin vs Sushiko rematch. Romin vs Roa... I'd love her to defeat him but tbh, I doubt that. Asana vs Tiger would be interesting since it's hinted they know each other. I want Ranze to duel someone she can actually beat, she deserves a win. If Mimi vs Yoshio rematch happens, I need her to win this time.
I think what Sevens does best is that they know how to juggle their characters. Minor characters are introduced from time to time and have a reason to be there. Major characters all get their own screen time as well.
This is a tad depressing video to think about but it's totally true, even only by the fact that you have a lot more characters, and the default isn't male for any role, makes a huge change in how they are perceived. And as a bonus, sevens have the very slice of life, one ep for duel structure from gx which helps immensely giving more characters chances to show themselves and duel, let's hope they don't lose it. Note: Aki is still best girl, now even her tcg deck is finally complete!
This feels like it was rushed too much. The video should of been out like after the show concluded. We get YGO doesn't have a track record of females (but still better than modern media girls) this feels like it made to make me wonder if Konami wants to fuck up YGO with the next season having bad girls because they lost the females.
So far it's really does seem like studio gallop was the problem , hopefully it stays that way and they can keep up this pace It's a shame, sky was so close to being one of my all-time favorite Yu-Gi-Oh characters, hopefully romin that's what her predecessor couldn't
I think it can get away with being a manga becuase it’s not as mainstream as an anime. It’s kinda the same reason the anime cards just barely resemble the actual product especially in the us.
1:40 Yeah, about that: has anyone here watched other anime that Studio Gallop has made? Is this a problem with them overall, or just Yugioh for some reason? I keep hearing that that other show Katsumi Ono has most recently directed (something something Symphogear, I think?) is _way_ better with women; is there just something about Yugioh that makes him stupid?

I know this video is old, but I may as well through my ranking for every primary Yu-Gi-Oh! girl Category: Best -> Worst Duelist: Romin, Aki, Anzu (while she went the whole series undefeated, she didn't duel enough to earn #1), Asuka, Yuzu, Aoi (I rank her low because she's playing Trickstar in a 4000 LP format, and doesn't win every time), and Kotori. Character (Design and Personality): Kotori, Anzu, Romin, Yuzu, Aoi (human), Aki, Blue Angel, Blue Maiden, Blue Girl, and Asuka (Personally, I like Saotome Rei a lot more than Asuka). My guess is that I am not in the majority, but here you go.
During Zexal, during Arc-V, during VRAINS, I always thought that the easiest way to make a new Yu-Gi-Oh series financially successful is by making the female characters play more active roles in the plot. My main issue with this franchise has always been its treatment of female characters. I've been a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh since the English dub of DM was still releasing new episodes for Duelist Kingdom and the rest of DM afterward. I love the franchise as a whole and will always love it regardless of each show's individual flaws. However, I believe Studio Bridge is familiar with the history of female characters in Yu-Gi-Oh. While I have no issue with female duelists losing or the occasional female character that is a damsel-in-distress, variety in both male and female characters is important. Not every female duelist should be there to give a male character another win. Now, here's the challenge. Can they keep it up until the series concludes? And, if they do that, can they keep it up for any future series in the franchise that they're in charge of? I'm hesitant to believe the curse has really been broken after less than 50 episodes into the series. Writing good female characters is nothing worth praising either, but I do admit I love how well Sevens has been treating their female characters at the time of this video being posted. I truly hope this video doesn't age badly. I wonder how many Yu- names are left. Obviously, writers can just make up names, but at what point would the YGO franchise arrive at the scenario of it being far easier to select a female Yu- name for the new main character and introduce a female YGO protagonist? It's food for thought only in my imagination. They still have to break the curse and keep it broken first and I don't necessarily disagree with the decision to keep the protagonist male for each series.
1.) (main issue) A-MEN to _that._ 2.) (hesitant) Like I keep saying: We've been here before; we've been here before... 3.) (Yu) a.) Still waiting on a "Yuna" or "Yumiko". b.) Another way Arc-V was a waste: SIX other Yu- names blown. And the ones given to the Yu-boys weren't even spelled correctly. _And_ the other ones assigned amounted to diddly squat, except confusion as to who Yusho is even supposed to be! (his name _was_ spelled correctly, for reasons no one can ID) c.) I suppose there's still surnames to consider, as well as the possibility of names in other languages that can be written that way. That's probably still a long way off to consider, tho.
@@christopherb501 Another possibility is eventually breaking from the tradition of naming the main protagonist with "Yu" at the beginning of his name. It's definitely not something that I expect will happen anytime soon. I would sooner expect the franchise to end before that consideration is brought to the discussion table.
Dude, no Joke, Odd-EyesRebellion Dragon was so bad, it’s effect was only used 3 times and it relied on multiple other cards to do stuff (dragoncaller Magician, Supreme Wing, Odd-Eyes Xyz Gate, Wings of Misdirection etc). It can be said that only a romantic thread between Yuga and Asana that will depend on how much it develops. Romin seems to like to tease Luke about the stupid things he does (Gakuto is the only one who doesn't have a partner. Well, he has some weird twins.)
Why do everyone forget sherry though? Sure she didn't have a 1v1 win but she was said to have done even better than Yusei in the WRGP qualification by taking down the entire team by herself, like, she defeated a team of three without taking a single damage. And she was a really good character, they could have done more with her but she was amazing
I don't mind females not winning if they at least have good scenes on a consistent bases that don't destroy their character. With males that hardly happens. GX maybe shafted the Dinosaur dude who had several wins on his belt, but he didn't really stand out. Misawa lost but even after he left the show, he did use his know-how to have something useful to do that isn't dueling.
yeah sevens does pretty well cause its good CHARACTERIZATION, one big issue before was shin yoshida who basically can't write girls for sh*- and it showed in all the bland ones, but new group new writers and the difference is astounding even without dueling they have good stories, its not just "main character syndrome" albeit he has a bit of it (like the machine girl being helped by him miraculously finding proof she needed to change) but she works even outside main lead that's the core difference, they're established outside of protag and coudl get a solo ep and it still be fine, you could with the others (Tea to dancing and abroad study, alexis with her friends, Aki less so but still with learning d-wheel, not zexal, VRAINS..., yu-girls oof)
Thank you Dylan for a Good Video! I agree with you on what you said in the video. I really like Romin, she is my favorite character in Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens. #Rominempire
While this may be your thoughts, I cannot fully agree with you. Sure, Tea and Tori (using English dubbed names here) don’t really duel and Mai did not really do great, turning on her friends for the Oricalchos, but you seem to forget about Rio Kastle when she became a Barian or even the female from ARC V that used Gem Knights. I feel like you glossed over some good matches, like Akiza dueling for her Turbo License. What mattered more, to me, was their own character growth outside of dueling. Akiza is still a great duelist and has made massive character growth when she was shown the true light of the Arcadia Movement, Yuzu is awesome because of how much she mattered in the later plot and on how crucially important she is to Yuya’s life (they truly love each other). Also, if you think about it, Carly us still a major supporter for Jack even if she isn’t a diehard duelist. Her deck couldn’t really be called a “deck” back then because it was more used as fortune telling. Becoming a Dark Signer was not that great a change. VRAINS and GX are kind of lackluster when it comes to the girls, mostly for VRAINS’ sake because I could not stand the characters, story or Link focused gameplay. With all the “kid friendlier” rules in Rush Duels, anyone could win. And their cards look like jokes compared to the main OCG.
All of the examples you mentioned just puts the girls in supporting roles. Carly having a subplot of becoming a Dark Signer is awesome and then she proceeds to spend 100 more episodes just to prop up Jack. Yuzu has a fantastic debut and one of my favorite duels in Arc-V and then she becomes a damsel in distress and has to be rescued by Yuya for the rest of the show. Aki also has a fantastic debut and some good stuff during the Dark Signers arc and then she just becomes another prop for Yusei. It's telling that all the female characters were only used as props for the MC or to drive the plot forward instead of actually being their own, developed characters. Meanwhile, Sevens has more female characters than you even mentioned in your comments all with subplots independent of Yuga. Yuga isn't dueling an antagonist because someone kidnapped his girl. Romin isn't constantly thinking about how great Yuga is in her inner monologues. They are characters independent of the MC and plot.
@@DM0M0 And on the Carly example, let us *never* forget how callously her and Jack's mutual development was completely discarded and never addressed. She'd have been better off dead than revived to be a complete nothing, less than she started as.

The answer its more simple than you think . Shin Yoshida its not involved , thats it XD. I only saw 5 eps but the page i was watching it was shut down and i havent search for another site to watch the show
Its a bad take. Yoshida didn't actively write most episodes with girl duels, he mostly left them to other writers. GX still treated Asuka like shit even before Yoshida got his hands on season 4. Same goes for Yuzu and other bracelet girls in Arc-V anime, no Yoshida involved whatsoever

Yep. As I said I’m watching only for the characters becuase nothing else is gripping me that I can’t wait to see the next episode. I get it’s not as dark or plot filled but it’s way to episodic and repetitive to be interesting. The fact the best characters are girls is just a bonus.
I would love to see a future Yu-Gi-Oh! spin-off anime with a female main protagonist, just like Pokemon Horizons where they have Liko the female main protagonist.
If there ever is, they shouldn't just make her a distaff counterpart. Since every protagonist so far has taken after Yugi, Jonouchi or Kaiba, the best option would be to have her take after Anzu.
Its almost 3am but I dropped everything to watch this video. Really loved your discussion and I do agree the girls in yugioh sevens are just way different from other Yugioh shows.
Series like Avatar the last airbender and Legend of Korra is a perfect example of how to write great female characters, haven't gotten to Yu-gi-oh Sevens yet but this sounds interesting even though it looks like the switch to different studio productions is working wonder's for their female characters i feel I can't completely give it the benefit of a doubt just because of Yu-gi-oh's track record of handling them throughout the series so I'd wait until the end of the series on an end note Aki will always be best girl to me 😁
Would be cool but tbh, if anything Rook and Roa are Yuga's rivals especially since all of them want to become duel king. Romin is a great duelist but she's still more on the side like Gakuto imo.
I have to say I whole heartedly agree. Most yugioh female characters are either cheerleaders or just there in the background. Dont get me wrong my favorite female duelist is akiza iziski and even I agree that her character was kinda left hung to dry. Yugioh sevens have a bunch of female duelist who are just as competent as the boys, if not more on occasions. Even the one who is love struck at the drop of the hat is way more interesting than tea gardener lol and tiger is my favorite aside from romin
being in the background isn't a bad thing but the lack of characterization when they're suppose to be deurtagonists is especially bad especially when the writer can't write a female character well at all
The female Yu-Gi-Oh characters aren’t actually all that bad. It’s just that they tend to get sidelined or end up facing characters that are required to win, but even then, most of them are still portrayed as competent duelists. Take Asuka and Aoi for example. They both have a decent win/loss record and despite what the fandom thinks, they did have major victories, but what the fandom deems as “important duels” doesn’t really mean anything. Even for characters like Mai and Emma, they held their own against powerful opponents, with Yugi and Jonouchi requiring specific cards against Mai, and Emma setting something up in most of her duels that no matter the outcome, she would still get what she want in the end. Then there are Aki and Yuzu. Even though they didn’t get a lot of time in their respective last seasons, that doesn’t mean they declined in competence. Aki still dueled in 5D’s second season and only lost once and even that loss was on her own terms, which helped her team win. You also have to consider how her Japanese voice actress had to take time off because she was getting married and how incompatible her duel style would be for Riding Duels, as she uses a lot of spell cards in her main deck, while speed spells wouldn’t give her the same type of coverage. As for Yuzu, her role in Arc-V’s third season could be chalked up to how rushed that season was, leaving her no opportunities to duel herself. The fact that no new Melodious cards were introduced during then may have also played a role in why Yuzu didn’t get to duel. Even in Zexal, some of the female characters, Iike Rio, Anna, and Droite are handled relatively well, with all of them having dueled and won against a Barian-possessed opponent, even if the latter two did so while teamed up with Yuma. But regardless, the fandom seems to have this notion in their heads that if a female character doesn’t win against someone *they* deem important, doesn’t have any one on one wins, or doesn’t have a lot of wins in general, then they ignore what wins they do have and treat them as if they're bad. I mean, you don’t hear anyone complaining about how Specter or Kengo don’t have a lot of wins, despite Specter only having what the fandom would deem as *one* major win or Kengo pretty much having the same record as Emma. Side note: Arc-V actually has the most amount of female duelist, with about 18 in total, with 10 in total having won at least one duel. Sherry did have a victory with Yusei and her butler against some of the Diablo and only lost because they overwhelmed her and her butler with numbers. There had been two other wins by a female character before, with Obomi shown defeating Yuma in a quick scene and Ray, through Reira, defeating Yuya while he was possessed by Zarc. Luke had lost before Tiger, during that flashback when he used his “devil” to get into a club to train and was shown losing multiple times.
There is a most funny joke in Yugioh community. Real Aliens invaded Earth and they have an condition for not killing us. No one will not talk. After 6 second Dylan said "Romin is best Yu-girl"
I suspect not for another few shows, still. I wouldn't feel good about such going into a new show yet, given this franchise's history. I'm at least waiting to see if Sevens sticks the landing before I give the green light.
If they ever do decide to do one, they shouldn't just make her a distaff counterpart. Considering every protagonist so far takes after Yugi, Jonouchi or Kaiba, the best option would be to have her take after Anzu.
I agree about Sevens!! Good show when it comes to girls and character development overall! What I also like to see is, when stakes are too high then I want to see the main protag lose. Would be a cool plot twist. :)
The only girl besides Kakoko who needs to duel is Nico. Hope she gets a chance in the Rush duel tournament. So far, I really like every girl we got in SEVENS. They are all so different but likable and/or interesting. Heck, even Ranze who crushes so easily on guys (which usually annoys me) is great especially seeing what happened in the recent episode. I hope SEVENS won't disappoint in the end and still continues to give the girls development and time to shine.
At least apparently, several SEVENS girls still have things pending that they can save for the end of the series. Romin: She must fix her things with Roa since he was the one who put her into the main group in the first place. She must also upgrade her group RoaRomin to have a chance to be next to Princess G at a concert. Mimi: She must make a decision: to be President Goha, to give up the dream of her that she fought so hard, or to support the Rush Duels, a hobby that her son likes. Any decision she makes will be hard on her. Ranze: She must find her way and improve on her own. Later, she must reconcile with Gakuto and Rinnosuke (which she practically left him) Tiger: At some point, Luke will have to defeat her to show that she has grown as a person and a duelist. Tiger won't make it easy for him that if. Outside of that, I don't see that another female character can develop (Participating is different since they can participate whenever the writers want). Asana is the one I think she will continue to participate more actively: mostly because of her rival status (Like Roa and Nail)
I'm still surprised that Bakuro hasn't even dueled again yet. As the first Machine duelist and with the significance of the Newspaper Club to the earlier story, I thought he'd have been a shoo-in to get another by now, especially when Menzaburo(sp?) got another duel and even won.
People didn't like Berserk romin?? I didn't really watch much of Sevens & am just getting into Rush duels as a whole but I really liked Berserk romin(granted I also fucking love calm & collected people & red-eyes are probably my favorite eye color. ESPECIALLY IN ANIME)
Mostly because it came off as a persona and not the actual character dueling, as well as the initial impression of yet another lead girl under _some_ form of mind control. Not wholly accurate, clearly, and "berserk" states are applicable without a persona shift to male characters too obviously, but the Gallop-induced stigma is a hard one to overcome.
@Omar Valentini that's the thing though. I am not saying art shouldn't be political, but inserting politics into something that has very little to do with it in an attempt to score points usualy not only makes the series worse but also does a disservice to whatever you are pandering to. If you want to add a message to your works it should either be subtle and smart or the main point of it, not tacked on like a sticker
Can you give some examples of what you mean by pandering? A lot of the time when I see people use that word, what they actually mean is "They made this character a race/color/gender that I don't want to see."
It's nice that she got that Rose Dragon archetype and that Level 10 version of her Dragon, over even the birdbrain getting an upgrade...but it's nowhere near enough. Still crossing my fingers that she and the other women of 5D's can show up in something else someday...
I can bet that tiger is an xyz user in master fuels, girl got me hyped for a moment when she brought out 2 lv 4s, I was like don’t play with my heart like dat
I really hope we get some master duels. Rush duels are too rushed to have any real suspense like other yugioh series. I mean I remember the opponent summoning some unstoppable monster with the Mc having like 200 points then having to wait till next week to find out the conclusion.
Something I wanted to note, this comparison is solely for the previous Yugioh anime! That's true. Studio Gallop had a formula for how to do a Yu-gi-oh series that became repetitive over time.
I think more than one character gets dirty pretty hard in GX and Arc-V
Romin, Asana, Tiger, Princess G, even Mimi and Sushiko. Sevens is nice to the ladies.
Finally
I just hope they KEEP IT UP. 😅
We need a 7th good girl. Ranze?
It's funny that Princess G was a background character (or a minor one) and, with just one episode, they were able to give her a personality, a development and a motivation.
Sushiko, on the other hand, was present from the beginning of the series and had the small contributions of him to the group (along with other secondary characters, especially in the Yuga vs Nail duel). They, in a single episode, showed that the Sushi girl is also a skilled duellist and that she is not only a pretty face.
Don't forget the "Ako" droids.

I honestly don't disagree with that. I know a lot of people don't like Anzu but I always felt like she fit her role really well. I always liked her a lot!
@@YugiohEverything agreed. Anzu did play important role in yugioh.
And to her credit, she won all her duels. And she has made strides to improve as a dancer. She played her role really really well
@@sxwriter8569 agreed.
There's no way people are going to be upset at this for too much right? it's a valid argument So far, YuGiOh Sevens has:
Avoided the brainwashing and possession joke.
If I were to compare the two, Naruto's problem were that the girl's development was only shown at the beginning and the end, and YuGiOh's problem is that between Alexis and Aoi, they had strong starts, but the writers never bothered to finish their storylines in a meaningful conclusion (aside from Akiza but still.)
And for those that are suddenly asking why this is a problem, think about this from a writer's perspective.
So far this new studio is doing well for the girls in this franchise
I haven't even seen the rest of Sevens but for some reason I always predicted Romin would be treated better than the past female leads, even though everyone's first thought on her was that "She's wasn't going to be a duelist."

@@brunosanto3488 true, Queen had so much missed potential too.
I skipped to 2:45 just to get away from those images & that cursed subplot.
And all it took was for the show to switch a studio and staff
A little late but… Sayer’s sub name is Divine, as in he has a Messiah Complex leading a CULT.
@@mystery8820 Yeah I forgot his sub name at the time 🤣

Also, the people in the cult aren’t psychic, they are living breathing Solid Vision systems like what Arc V does.
@@bladersmosh
An understandable point of view.
Wouldn't know how well Rush Duels are doing though.
Anything that doesn't involve going the same path Vrains did, I'll have faith on Sevens and Rush Duels.
Thing is, VRAINS wasn't bad. Its premise was interesting and could deliver something amazing. Unfortunately, they could not order their plot well, shape their characters or adapt to the internal problem that Studio Gallop had at that time.
@@brunosanto3488 Not having a manga adaptation imo also ruins Vrains reputation.
It's amazing but at the same time it's sad because it's like this one series treats all the girls in Yu-Gi-Oh better than the previous seasons
Tbh You're not wrong.
5D's, Arc V and Vrains or just simply all of the previous series had their chances to deliver some great characters that just happened to be female. Only good thing about Sevens
Having not watched Sevens yet, I'll say one thing... That guitar-duel-disk has me asking so many questions...
It was a gift from Yuga (the main protag) for Romin (the main girl) since she's a guitarist and also plays duel monsters. So a duel guitar is a pretty good and unique idea.
@@mikai4738 Also that Guitar was originally part of one of Yuga's inventions but then she took a liking to it
Spoken like a person unaware that Bridge has provided multiple chair characters.
(In a Studio Bridge meeting room)
Studio Bridge Employee 1: Ok guys.
(A few weeks after watching the Yu-gi-oh series)
Studio Bridge Employee 2: Ok. We have seen all the Yu-gi-oh series and I think we can draw conclusions from the characteristics of a Yu-gi-oh series.
A Yu-gi-oh series is not a Yu-gi-oh series if it does not have the following:
- A tournament arc
- A character of the archetype Joey and Kaiba.
- A focus only on the main character, his best friend and rival.
- A final villain in the series who wants to destroy the world.
- Intense card duels where the result is death
- A moment of mind control or brainwashing (Especially female characters)
- A main female character who is not relevant or is sidelined in favor of another character.
- A group of forgettable secondary characters
- A dark, complex and crazy plot.
She is also one of the few antagonists who are not 100% bad (In fact, Asana is a good person who only stands against Yuga for saving her legacy)
Tiger: It is one of the few cases of an independent, rude and aggressive girl in Yu-gi-oh (Similar comparisons would be Serena and Anna).
However, so far, she is quite well and is independent of what President Drone says (I'm sure the only evil thing the Drone is doing with her is that it is taking her salary for being a terrible Goha president)
Ranze: It's funny that she is present in the series from the beginning, but she only had development or greater participation in the third mini-arc of the series. Ranze's involvement is something Luna must have had during her series (Not to mention Ranze has more duels than Luna in just 41 episodes).
I could talk about the other female characters, but I think those five are the most relevant when it comes to female representation in SEVENS.
DuelLogs is the best girl in YGO series.
One day, I will start Sevens. And this just solidifies the point.
Yes me too I stopped watching as 5 ds
There are actually four girls who dueled in VRAINS: Aoi, Emma, Baira, and QUEEN (granted queen only dueled once, in the 3rd arc, and lost)
Allure Queen support, for one of the worst LV monsters...
What a world.
@@mikai4738 Oh god dammit I forgot to include manga on that. On that same basis, while we don't see it, Midori also beat Koyo before he went pro.
@@christopherb501 She did? Dang, I forgot about it.
I was going to say the Tyler sisters but I wasn't sure if they won a duel (I know they lost a lot xd)
As we’re approaching the first tournament arc, let’s make a prediction for duels the girls could go up against. I’m predicting...
Romin vs Sushiko round 2
Romin vs Roa (a duel that could go many directions and I good opportunity to advertise the new card they might use from the newest RD box)
Romin vs Luke (in my opinion, she should be the one to give him his first onscreen loss)
Luke vs Tiger
Romin vs Princess G (that’ll nearing Sevens conclusion I think)
Mimi vs Yoshio round 2 (a fight for son to save mother from Goha should something happen to Mimi)
Ranze vs Gakuto or Rinnosuke round 2 (1 v 2 or individually)
That’s all the ones I can think of right now.
Unfortunately, it wasn't so hard to top previous girls.
Sad but true.
I think what Sevens does best is that they know how to juggle their characters. Minor characters are introduced from time to time and have a reason to be there. Major characters all get their own screen time as well.
I still like the girls from the previous series like Alexis Rhodes
Every girl in Sevens is best girl.
Apart from the Sarako & clones, I like the development most of the female characters have gotten. Despite Ranze & Mimi never winning a duel "yet".
Did you heard some leaks that Quattro/4/Four/IV is coming in Duel Links in April.
So far it's really does seem like studio gallop was the problem , hopefully it stays that way and they can keep up this pace
It's a shame, sky was so close to being one of my all-time favorite Yu-Gi-Oh characters, hopefully romin that's what her predecessor couldn't
If only OCG Structures had an anime, Ageha is OP as hell.
Ps: also, I found amazing the amount of lewds of Romin that came out when the anime began.
@ the PS: those people disgust me.
It's highly unlikely to happen since OCG Structures make the products on which the featured cards can be obtained explicit.
Ageha is just scary man... I can see why.. Satou is scared of her but admires her.
I think it can get away with being a manga becuase it’s not as mainstream as an anime. It’s kinda the same reason the anime cards just barely resemble the actual product especially in the us.

And...your opinions on the manga versions/whoever's the lead from OCG Structures?
@@christopherb501 I've only read the original Manga, 3 volumes of Zexal, and 2 chapters of OCG structures, so I'm not sure.
1.) (main issue) A-MEN to _that._
2.) (hesitant) Like I keep saying: We've been here before; we've been here before...
3.) (Yu)
a.) Still waiting on a "Yuna" or "Yumiko".
b.) Another way Arc-V was a waste: SIX other Yu- names blown. And the ones given to the Yu-boys weren't even spelled correctly. _And_ the other ones assigned amounted to diddly squat, except confusion as to who Yusho is even supposed to be! (his name _was_ spelled correctly, for reasons no one can ID)
c.) I suppose there's still surnames to consider, as well as the possibility of names in other languages that can be written that way.

I don't mind females not winning if they at least have good scenes on a consistent bases that don't destroy their character. With males that hardly happens. GX maybe shafted the Dinosaur dude who had several wins on his belt, but he didn't really stand out.
Misawa lost but even after he left the show, he did use his know-how to have something useful to do that isn't dueling.
yeah sevens does pretty well cause its good CHARACTERIZATION, one big issue before was shin yoshida who basically can't write girls for sh*- and it showed in all the bland ones, but new group new writers and the difference is astounding
even without dueling they have good stories, its not just "main character syndrome" albeit he has a bit of it (like the machine girl being helped by him miraculously finding proof she needed to change) but she works even outside main lead
that's the core difference, they're established outside of protag and coudl get a solo ep and it still be fine, you could with the others (Tea to dancing and abroad study, alexis with her friends, Aki less so but still with learning d-wheel, not zexal, VRAINS..., yu-girls oof)

I'm happy you enjoyed Elaine!!
Thanks for using your voice to highlight the representation of girls in these animes

@@nettohoshikawa4582 Yoshida wrote the episodes that ruined female chars .
just remember Yuzu , she started as the Joey of Arc V and in just 1 episode she got so screw up
@@silo1991 Yoshida doesn't write anything for arc-v anime. Check animenewsnetwork to see what he did. Yoshida always lets other writers do episodes with girls, yet people apparently will still blame him even if DM by Kazuki also sidelined girl characters.
If you want to argue for the arc-v manga, remember that he aint have time to develop Yuzu or other bracelet girls there given the manga is monthly and can be cut short any time the higher-ups want
The girls of ygo Sevens really are a cut above the rest. Hope their treatment has made the studio and art transitions easier for people who were cold on this show.
I still find the plot boring and really nothing but the characters are fun; I’m watching for the characters only.
@@rhaeasoul8531 exactly. I’m not watching Yugioh thinking a character should be important because their gender... if shun was replaced with a female I’d still be impressed and in awe of the character. If romin became a guy I’d still be struggling to hold my eyelids up.
Yep. As I said I’m watching only for the characters becuase nothing else is gripping me that I can’t wait to see the next episode. I get it’s not as dark or plot filled but it’s way to episodic and repetitive to be interesting. The fact the best characters are girls is just a bonus.
I personally want there to be a female main protagonist in the next series..like a female yugi Character
I would love to see a future Yu-Gi-Oh! spin-off anime with a female main protagonist, just like Pokemon Horizons where they have Liko the female main protagonist.
They could probably start off with having twin protagonists for a show, and alternate between them.
See I was gonna wait until Sevens was over to start watching it, but now ya sold me. I HAVE to see this for myself. 🙂👍
I agree with you but Ranze and Mimi aren’t really good in my opinion but both are okay characters.
Series like Avatar the last airbender and Legend of Korra is a perfect example of how to write great female characters, haven't gotten to Yu-gi-oh Sevens yet but this sounds interesting even though it looks like the switch to different studio productions is working wonder's for their female characters i feel I can't completely give it the benefit of a doubt just because of Yu-gi-oh's track record of handling them throughout the series so I'd wait until the end of the series on an end note Aki will always be best girl to me 😁
Korra is a dissapointing character.
ATLA is nauseatingly overated. And the girl characters obnoxious...
Romin all the way since the begin.
Also, Asana has a good look, especially with the coat.
I feel like it would be awesome for Yuga to have actually 2 rivals in Rook and Romin, it can be seen as a “duel triangle” between the 3.
Would be cool but tbh, if anything Rook and Roa are Yuga's rivals especially since all of them want to become duel king. Romin is a great duelist but she's still more on the side like Gakuto imo.
It blows my mind to as every since 5ds we've had prominent feminine themed archetypes
Welp might be just cus the studio is not even the same one anymore 😅
Thats probably a very big reason!
Even the one who is love struck at the drop of the hat is way more interesting than tea gardener lol and tiger is my favorite aside from romin
being in the background isn't a bad thing but the lack of characterization when they're suppose to be deurtagonists is especially bad especially when the writer can't write a female character well at all
its about time that YGO female characters gets the respect they deserved
Side note:
Arc-V actually has the most amount of female duelist, with about 18 in total, with 10 in total having won at least one duel.
Luke had lost before Tiger, during that flashback when he used his “devil” to get into a club to train and was shown losing multiple times.
better than my girl Serenity Shizuka Kawai Wheeler?? :D Idk about that
There is a most funny joke in Yugioh community. Real Aliens invaded Earth and they have an condition for not killing us. No one will not talk. After 6 second Dylan said "Romin is best Yu-girl"
When do we get a female Protag? We need a Yukko or Yumi or something.
im sure we will at some point
Oh, it's differnet studio. I was losing my mind why the art style look so different.
Fbi: open up
No no no. This is _Yugioh._
"Sector Security, open up!" / "Disciplinary Action Squad, open up!" / "Obelisk Force, open up!"
why
Later, she must reconcile with Gakuto and Rinnosuke (which she practically left him)
Tiger: At some point, Luke will have to defeat her to show that she has grown as a person and a duelist.
Asana was done beautifully
And all of that without any pandering or dumb politics. This is what anime gets right and Holywood just doesn't understand!
A lot of the time when I see people use that word, what they actually mean is "They made this character a race/color/gender that I don't want to see."
well its true they are written much better, aki hurts the most because aki was epic....
FBI agent reading the title: interesting 🤨
relax bro its not that serious
