    I can understand what the father is going through. Having THREE of his daughters be assaulted by the same man he put his trust into, his daughters put trust into, and so many of the victims and their parents having to hear and feel ashamed for because they're going to live with the rest of their lives thinking it's their fault and had the chance to prevent their beloved children from experiencing that trauma and the children forced to keep quiet about it to the public.
    I hope Larry rots in jail or given the proper punishment he deserves for ruining so many people's lives.

    That Lebanon High School incident is why students are powerless when speaking up against faculty and staff.
    Faculty and staff will do anything in their power to silence students, and I really don’t know why. You can’t reason with them and it sucks, what they say goes. Children are powerless in any situation ever, even if parents get involved.
    It’s so frustrating and stupid because I tried it once and it didn’t work.

      dalolman exactly in 8th grade i had a question on why some teachers enforced this one rule about hats (we couldn't wear them inside) even though it wasn't in the book with the rules in there (only thing i saw about hats was that the writing on them couldn't be offensive ) but one of my teachers was so mean about it after he kept having to tell this one kid to take his hat off inside i know it wasn't worth talking to him about it. My only other teacher that i actualy had, that had that rule was cooler about it (and now that i think about it would have been a good teacher to debate about it) after seeing the first teacher i didn't really feel like trying to bring it up to him.

Idk. Shame they dont just say what they are trying to prevent but maybe its purely selfish. Idk usually its not.

    That school didn't care at all. They thought there rep was in danger so they punished her. The school staff only sees a small part of the picture. I was bullied in elementary school, middle school, and high school. After a while, you realize that telling a parent or teacher just didn't work. Most of the time, telling an adult just made things worse. There were nights where I laid in bed wondering if being alive was worth putting up with the bullying. My parents and teachers knew about 10% of what I went through. There's a serious problem with the way schools tend to the emotional health of their students. This school could have taken her video as a hint to this. But no, shutting her up and punishing her made them feel better. I guess opening their eyes was too much for them to handle.

      Sorry to hear about you getting bullied all that time. I myself got bullied at highschool. My parents knew, my school knew. I can only talk about schools in my own country not the states. The thing my school did was advice my parents to send me to theraphy, to become stronger in mind. Cause appearantly they figured i was weak thus got bullied, however i did fine till two "friends" began to spread lies about me, made me a target for the whole class, you try to do something against 30 so people alone and not knowing your friends are behind it.
      So i was send to some theraphy, group counceling i believe is the english term. I was put in a small group once a week after school to talk about what i went trough to a whole group of people who suffered the same. Then some hippy tree hugging woman would tell us what to do. Would i be doing everything she said, i would have been bullied way more, if anything was making you a target, it was the bullshit that disconnected to reallity high spirited woman was saying "raise your hand infront of you and tell them "Stop, quit it" when they bully you....yeah..that's gonna work..uhu...and you get paid for this? The worst part was....A CLASSMATE OF MINE WAS IN THAT SAME GROUP, and he figured "Hell i get bullied, but so does he, if i tell everything he is saying to the group to the bullies, they will only focus on him and leave me be" and they did. So i became even more of a target, so i wouldn't say anything anymore about what happened cause i damn well knew i would end up in shit for it, and yet school and this theraphy group patted themselves on the shoulder thinking they done a amazing job fixing the situation, they made me stonger...no they didn't, i just pretended so i didn't had to go to that stupid thing anymore.
      Schools look the other way, they don't want to deal with that shit. You know why? Cause when they do, you have these retarded parents of the bullies comming over saying "my child doesn't do that!" (mine would kick my ass had i been bullying people) and go to the media (it really happened here a whole bunch of times, even resulting in a teacher getting suspended for stepping in when 12 - 13 year olds grouped around a 8 year old and bullied him). They keep being stuck with the idea you need to "fix" the one who get's bullied, need to make them "stronger", only adding to the insecurity of that person. You get the idea no one wants to help you cause they either can't or simply don't want to deal with the concequences and find it easyer to let you fend for yourself. They don't have patience with you either and think you just don't want results. You have to switch school in some cases, etc. Yet the bullies get rewarded, did they get punished? No, they hardly get a talk these days let alone suspension or other penalties. Do the bullies have to leave the school? Nope, they can still go to it. Do the bullies have to sacrifice free time to "become stronger" but all you learn is being counter productive? No.
      What people need to realize is that the victims feel alone.That the victims feel like it's all their fault. That they feel presured or threatened. Schools see everything, teachers and facility crew see everything, and many of them aren't even allowed to do something unless it ends up in a physical fight. Schools need to show that the victims aren't alone, they don't need to "blame" them victim for being bullied. There are better ways to help someone then shoving them to the side and make them someones elses problem. If someone is "weak", then see if you can hook them up with a martial arts teacher, for private lessons cause this person feels insecure enough. I know there are martial arts teachers who gladly give private lessons, don't have to be many, just a basis till they feel ready to join the group. Martial arts is more then the fight, its mind and body and they can teach you that way better then some so called "Doctor hippy treehugger with no sense of reallity". Talk with the victims of bullying, see what they like, see if you can hook them up with people who like the same things. If someone is bullied and likes Theatre, then introduce them to people you know at school who do it, or inform them about local theatre schools for example. Give them something they might like and feel good about. I loved theatre and i joined one cause even though i was bullied, during theatre class (yeah we had that) i dared everything on the stage, i didn't care who i was outside and what horrible people my classmates were, i was in a role on stage. I joined a theatre school in my freetime and met great people, felt welcome somewhere again. Do things like that as school, actively try to guide this young person trough the hardship. I had to do everything myself as my school pushed me away quickly to that councel group thing. They never adressed the bullies, they never invited the parents of the bullies for a talk and they never stood up for me when it happened.
      I got lucky myself that i had to redo that year, i got into a new class. In that class there were two of my old elementry school as well so i knew people there and the whole class was very friendly. No one ever got bullied in that class, people stood up for each other and welcomed everyone. I was lucky but not thanks to the help of school.
      I was also lucky that when i got bullied, Internet was rather new and not a thing that everyone had at home. Social media didn't excist, i was bullied during school hours, when i went home it was over for me, it didn't go on on the internet. I wouldn't get emails telling me how much of a terrible person i was. I didn't had facebook pages dedicated to stories about me. After school hours and weekends were bully free, it did help that i also went to school in another place and none of my classmates came from the same town. In my own town i had plenty of friends so i didn't have to feel excluded there either as many victims sadly have to experience. Now more then ever schools need to be more strict on bullying, cause it doesn't stop anymore, it goes on 24/7 for many victims. Young people who have not the capibility yet to see into the future. 1 year takes long enough as it is, let alone 4 - 5 years. I had issues much later in life as well thanks to the bullying and how it got ignored (had issues till a few years ago when i went in private theraphy to deal with some fears), i also learned that it is behind me now. I can move on and i never got bullied after again, so it did came to a stop. But that is when you get older, and when ever things look bad now i just know that things comes in waves so it will be better eventually again, but you don't do that when you are 14 years old and feel like utter useless.

      My opinion might be unpopular here, 1st off I have been there myself, I still bear the physical and emotional scars of what others did to me and what I did to myself as a result, so I get it. I also work in a public school, not as a teacher but as a technical support staff and while I will not defend this Principle because they are clearly thinned skinned, I do think in general people put too much onto the public schools. 1st off, unlike how it was back when I was in school (I am 40 BTW), a lot of this happens online, and simply put, we have zero control there. Parents give their kids smart phones which is the dumbest thing in the world to do and a rant for another day, but we have no control on that network. Further more locking down internal networks is getting harder and harder, you figure out how to block 1 VPN, 2 more show up in it's place, it is a loosing battle, and while we can control our devices we can't control every knick nack mommy and daddy let their kids have, and yet we are supposed to be responsible because kids are harassing each other online? That is like getting pissed at Chevy because Toyota has a recall.
      And lets be honest, schools are grossly under funded, many of them, most in my district have 1 adult for every for every 11 kids, that is adult, not teacher, there are a lot of support staff that do the behind the scenes work that really don't interact with kids, you would be amazed at what it takes to keep a public high school running, we have about 1 teacher for every 30ish students, there is no reasonable way for them to "babysit" and instruct effectively. And when I say baby sit I am referring to watch every little thing they are doing. Add into that kids these days show far less respect for authority, to do what people want, it would require a notable tax hike (or maybe just paying less into national defense) and give the schools almost twice what they get now, but instead education is facing budget cuts which will only make things worse. Schools are also deathly afraid of over stepping their bounds, look how many lawsuits get thrown around at the school districts for being too forceful with students. On the flip side we have to we have ad hear to increasingly stringent regulations to meet government funding requirements and it is always do more with less. There are other issues caused by districts as well, superintendents make way too much damn money in my opinion, but the schools themselves are not to blame for that. At the end of the day our schools are in a no win situation, and expecting even more from them, while I agree they should be handling this, it is lunacy to expect them to with what they have.

      Kyle Nelson - What's your solution then? You either kill a criminal or lock him up. Unless we're gonna bring back torture, or the pillory. The pillory might actually be a good ithing to calm some of the anger of the populace actually, but I don't think a majority would approve bringing it back because it's too "barbaric".
      As to putting your hopes of justice on some other lowlife criminal who's probably not much better than he is to possibly rape him or shank him on a whim, that's just a pathetic and not very reliable way to deliver justice. You want a harsher sentence? Make the sentence itself harsher. The judge's sentence is the most reliable thing.
      There should also be higher voices to reform the death row process, as I'm sure there's room to make it quicker.

      Wrong. Just because the local PD wasn't doing anything, doesn't mean they were all corrupt. When the case becomes a federal matter the local PD aren't allowed to do anything at all because it becomes the feds job. Literally jurisdiction 101

    • @kevshorty
      @kevshorty 6 років тому +1

      how long it took shows how clever those cops were. after all the evidence gathered so far the FBI still needed to have a sting operation to pin it all on them. Which means the evidence was all circumstantial and wouldn't have been able to be proven in court. Which also means the local PD didn't stand a chance to try arrest them themselves. seriously why am I having to explain these things to people? it's just stupid that people can't figure these things out themselves. once the thought they were all corrupt, people become fixated on that and tell people to say something they don't know. Seriously ask these questions yourself. if all these things happened why did the fbi still need solid wiretap and video evidence to arrest. Do you really think local PD was able to stop them? What happens if the local PD failed to gather sufficient evidence against them and the case thrown out. Not only would it taint the fbi in what they could do, the corrupt cops could be protected from double jeopardy laws. Dude think about these things. There are two massive obstacles to overcome. finding out they're guilty and proving it in court. That's why the sting operation was needed. That's what you call a win win situation. No matter what those cops are going down at that point. Also what would happen if the cops had been doing federal crimes from the get go? The local PD wouldn't have been able to get any kind of warrant to surveillance them anyway without the fbi. Like really think about these things man

    Reacting to the teen suspended from school for anti-bully awareness. I think this relates heavily to the "13 reasons why" ordeal, people don't actually know what's it like to be in highschool nowadays. It's sad to say but this isn't even close to being the worst of cases, what she is saying is more than real and is brought to whole nother levels depending the school. Non the less every school has this wether it be hidden behind closed doors or on social media it's happens and people like her need to come out with these videos to go viral. Making people deal with the situation instead of just shrugging them off! It's a terrible yet fascinating world we live in

      I agree to an extent, if the headline for the story were "Nassar gets his face bashed in by victim's father", I'd be cheering for the man. That said, getting arrested in front of your kids, potentially getting put in jail, doesn't do anything for them. They need their dad with them so they can put all of this behind them. They don't need him behind bars. Fortunately the judge chose to forgive him, which I think is the right call, especially since he didn't actually manage to get his hands on the monster.
      That all said, I have no sympathy for Nassar and no judgement for the father. I can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing if it were my daughters. But it wouldn't be best for them in the long run.

    The high school anti bullying video doesnt remotely surprise me - when I was in middle school I was being severely bullied at a private school and I posted a video online about it - that night the middle school principal called my parents requesting i take the video down or they would have to take further action against me. My family had bigger problems to deal with (my mom was suffering with terminal cancer) so I just did what they said, but even after 6 years it still sticks with me how so many schools truly don't care about their students - they just care about their bottom line and their reputation.

      In middle school one of my best buds was horribly bullied by this one kid. He did it to me too, but not to the same degree. My friend went home, made like 200 fliers and posters about the kid bullying him (as well as other things like how he was actually gay to mess with him) and posted them all over the school in the morning. In the end the bully admitted to everything he did, and got moved to a disciplinary school. My friend got like 2 days in school suspension. Epic. I wish everyone’s story worked out that way

      At my old school system we had like 3 kids die and 6 badly injured while in elementary, so my class learned very quickly that life is short, so fast forward to high school bulling basically vanished. But when my friend broke and said a kid that recently moved to our school was bulling him I saw that kid getting dragged by the entire football team to the field. The next day the kid showed up said sorry and didn't say a word for days.

    • @in-fm1pi
      @in-fm1pi 6 років тому +20

      Tyler C. "Everyone wants to kill the guy who steals your i phone"... probably not the analogy to use when we are taking about hundreds of people being repeatedly sexually abused. Your comment was in poor taste.

    • @JacksonJost
      @JacksonJost 6 років тому +6

      Perhaps support wasn't the correct phrasing. At the very least, I can see where the dad is coming from. Obviously acting like that in a courtroom isn't respectful or proper behavior, and it should definitely not be a common occurrence. But perhaps once in a while, especially with cases involving people of such evil like Larry Nassar, making them feel fear (even for a split second) may be worth it to someone like the father. Also, be careful not to blow things out of proportion with a counterexample. A case of a stolen iPhone and the case of a doctor sexually abusing hundreds of young girls are on completely different levels. I'm sure the prosecution will be in a very different emotional state if an iPhone is stolen, especially if it has gone to trial with the thief having been caught.

Much as we all would like to see the justice done - and a life of relative ease certainly doesn't seem like justice - harming ourselves to make it happen is not justice. Hey Phil! Please check out this video of a teacher from my old high school! This man is known for ALWAYS going the extra mile. He tutored me in calculus for an entire year but he wasn’t even my teacher! He would show up to many school functions to show his support and many more wonderful things. However, this man lost his wife a couple years ago and this past year his child was diagnosed with cancer. One would think that this would change how he approaches his attitude towards his students and his school but it never did. He continued to show support for school activities and more importantly, he continued to show support for his students.
    In this world where monsters like Nassar continuously flood our news outlets I’d like to see someone like this teacher get his moment in the spotlight. twitter.com/buzzfeednews/status/937537454092906496

      You have to remember that coirt has a lot of very specific rules to avoid "bias" so that everyone has a fsir and equal trial and fsir sentencing for their crimes. Judges are in a sticky situation where they must be harsh but fair and cannot cast doubt on their sentancing. The last thinf anyone needs or wants is Nassar to come,back in a year or two,amd say the judge let her personal,bias get in the way of sentancing and there was obvious boas in the courtroom. That could get his sentence reversed, lessened, or even allow to to appeal or apply for parole. Our justice system is FULL of rules so that everything is set up to,be "fair."

    Wow. I live pretty close to Lebanon, and I’ve never even seen the video, which is crazy to me. At Siegel, we recently had a student pass away in a car crash. Though, the reason for the crash was mostly preventable, and our school has done close to nothing to prevent anything else. They haven’t acknowledged suicide prevention at all, yet countless students at my school are depressed, and hopeless. Too many suffer without being noticed. Many students reach out on social media, and offer help to anyone who is in need of a friend or advice, but help is never on a school wide scale. Even seeing part of that video really makes me want to change that. Thank you.

    That father did what most parents would want to do. Those claiming he was in the wrong are not in his shoes. The pain and anger in his eyes showed his love as a parent. He was so upset, that his ability to use restraint was overpowered. Who cares about whether or not it was the right thing to do? He was displaying the kind of protective nature we all crave from our loved ones.

      Lucky Luciano yup, seriously.
      Everyone who has taken issue with the father's actions, from what I've seen, are assuming they would not resort to violence. Until a person is put into a situation like that, it's impossible to know what the reaction would be. Claiming to know is dishonest. For that reason, I do not care if it was right or wrong. If I chastised him for lashing out, and some day found myself in the same situation, with the same reaction, that would make me a hypocrite.

      If they allow one student to video tape in school and post it, then they have to allow all. Because who is going to decide what content is OK to post and what content is not. You might say 'that is easy'. No it is not because so many people have such polarizing views about EVERYTHING. School is for learning. That is it. It is not for raising children, or activist or teaching basic right and wrong. It is for learning. If you break school rules, you are punished, not taught to be better. That is for parents. It is bad enough that teachers and administrators are teaching 'their brand of education'. Meaning if they like or hate Trump depends if you can talk about him in the classroom. Or abortion or 'punch a nazi' or any other contraversial topic. This sound harsh but, every student cannot be allowed to video tape in school and post it. If students can, then the public can also because schools are publicly funded. We do not want EVERYONE to be allowed to do that.

    Each parent should get at least a minute alone with that POS. I wouldn't have been able to hold back either. And Unbelievable that their are schools who are so quick to punish someone standing up for whats right. Bullying is consistently ignored and swept under the rug. Of course to they play to their anti hate/bullying vids to give themselves a pat on the back and congratulate each other for doing a great job. As a mother of a bullied autistic child I've witnessed this hypocrisy first hand. Our school systems need serious readjustments. My heart goes out to this girl and good for her for speaking out. While there was no direct call for violence she did say "gun threats are passed out on the daily" suggesting that the school has a violent threat problem. The school could have seen this as a serious claim for which she did not or could not provide supporting evidence. And taking into consideration that this video more than likely went viral around the school it could have made people think that "threats of violence happen everyday maybe a person acts on those threats." Which could result in a mass panic that someone could commit and true act of violence. This whole situation could have been avoided if the student would have simply not wrote a poem and instead expressed her concern in a more digestible form.

    When it comes to the "bad apple" situation with the Baltimore PD and Police in general bit of both and it varies on department. There are a few bad apples protected by the "thin blue line" but this also allows for larger dept. wide situations to fester like Baltimore PD and even Ferguson.

    Lebanon is thirty minutes away from my High School. We have so many suicides here in southwest Missouri. Like at least 5 a semester across the corner of the state.

      To be fair, with the way child molesters are thought of in prison Nassar is probably going to get MUCH worse than what this father could give him.

      +Joshblanton151 Hopefully he just gets killed day one. But since the guards know whats going to happen they may just put him in solitary for a loooooong time.

    I feel so bad for the dad of those girls. He was trying to find justice for his girls and he couldn't. The justice is served but it's not enough for him or any of the other parents...

    My school also had a policy against taking photos/videos on site, but it seems here that they don’t actually care about this rule and they only enforced it in this situation to non-directly shut this down :/

    All members of the criminal justice system that break the law should have their sentence literally doubled. So a 15 year stint becomes a 30 year one. They are not regular citizens they are meant to uphold the law. If the upholders of the law break it they should be treated in exemplary fashion. Would make people seriously think twice before abusing their position.

    When I was in High School I tried to file a report against them for bullying with my head of discipline for my school and was told that I could be arrested if I went further with my report for "falsely accusing" other students of bullying me. I was completely shocked and when I told my mom she drove to the school and raised hell in their office. Not everyone has a mom like I do who would be willing to leave work to make sure their child is taken seriously, but honestly not everyone should have to. High Schoolers should be taken seriously and not made to shut up about a situation just because they're teenagers. Especially since there was already a suicide that had happened just months before because another student was being bullied.

      No, not good job to that dad. Of course they couldn't LET him beat the shit out of Nassar, because that opens up civil rights violations suits for Nassar and can throw the entire sentencing into chaos. And the dad had to know that, as seen by how he tried to suddenly and quickly rush forward before the bailiffs could stop him.
      He KNEW that all he could REALLY accomplish was to make his family watch him get tackled, cuffed, and led away. If he possessed real strength, he'd have controlled his desire for revenge in order to not put his family through that. He'd have made a statement about his disgust and hatred for Nassar, quietly left and supported his daughters with whatever help they needed, instead of helping turn them into a national spectacle through his childish antics.
