The people complain about it aren't the racist ones. They are calling out a studio for being racist because you have to be the king of the morons to think she was cast for any other reason.
She was littirally cast because of her singing. You just don't like seeing black people in media.

Being inclusive is cool and all. But why change already established characters? Just make new ones or use already colored ones then. Instead of rewriting important identifying traits of a character.

My problem with "blackwashing" certain characters, is that it just keeps burying actual black history deeper underground.
Sure, we get black mermaids or black norse gods on film, but we'll never see tales of Mwindo(pretty much the Thor of Africa) or Anasi adapted to the big screen because people never learn about them.
Side note:
if they wanted to go for cultural accuracy, they could have casted a greek actress for Ariel, since her grandfather is Poseidon
This video below is called "Y'all love white folks' sloppy seconds". He puts this entire thing in PERFECT context as a black man with experience making characters and stories himself.

This isn't about race, it's about an already established character being changed, just like when audiences went nuts because Godzilla was radically redesigned for the 1998 movie. Visuals do matter when it comes to (most) people's perception of characters, at least that's how I see it.
I think singing voice is a bigger part of the original character than her skin tone.

To me, the movie will suck. The acting will be awful, the songs will be bad and the script will be horror. I'm more tired of Disney live actions being so..GOD DAMNED AWFUL!! It's good that children have the attention span of a fucking piece of chalk or they would not see the atrocious..acting, the sickening shit Disney hires for actors, that and the budget just sucks, they're changing a lot of important parts, etc. And for the black Mermaid thing, I don't care. However, Ariel in the cartoon did have a black Mermaid friend, why not make a movie about her? I mean that character was specifically made to remember a sick kid who died of Leukemia.
Plus it gives Disney more creative ideas instead of sticking to the same plot but making it shitty.

For some, I am sure that is the case, but not for most. It is the fact that companies feel the need to deviate too far from the source material. If the original character were black or asian, I would have the same issue if they made her white. Not everything is about racism, sexism, homo/transphobia, fatphobia, and the like.
