Streisand herself NEVER performed these two songs back-to-back live ! - I believe Streisand is one of the very best singers of all time and this amazing cover performed by Lara Fabian...........a HUGE lifetime fan ........n a respectful and loving fashion is touching and in no way is an affront to Streisand in any way. In fact, on more than one occasion Streisand herself has asked Lara Fabian to step in for her when she was unable to perform. -- your outrage is either tongue-in-cheek or completely foolish, and either way is inappropriate.

Barbra said from Lara « You are very good and I don’t say this very often ». She also herself covered Lara’s masterpiece Broken Vow in one of her tours (sadly not recorded). And she had a dinner organized by David Foster with Lara to discuss her interpretation of Je suis malade. So I think there is a lot of multual respect between these two. I personally prefer this version to the video cut scenes from the movie (one of my favorites still) or to the lives I have seen performed by Barbra. My taste. Yours can be different for sure. Lara is a great fan of Barbra, calls her the Empress or the Queen, and knows all her catalog. In a Boston event led by John Williams, where she was performing a fantastic duet with Josh Groban, Lara replaced at the last minute Barbra, who was supposed to come and sing Evergreen.
