New Zealand Foraging During LOCKDOWN

  • We've been keeping ourselves busy during the lockdown here in New Zealand by foraging on our walks. In this video, we gathered up a bunch of blackberries and made a crumble. We also found a bunch of paddock mushrooms and made some mushroom risotto. Along the way, we soaked in all the sights, smells and sounds of the pine forest, found a few animal skulls and enjoyed the first sunny day in awhile.

Sheep can get caught up in blackberry bushes because of the thorns. I have watch a you tube video of a guy calling the blackberry bush a carnivorous plant whilst rescuing a caught up sheep from a blackberry bush. The sheep could not move. Your skull could be moved by an animal from the old carcass by a blackberry bush. Oh and the kiwi accent needs work :)

  • @patrikkral7202

I don't think there is anything really similar to porcini. Brown round head and yellow or blown-ish dotty (spongy) from the below, it is either porcini or boletus, both edible (some pieces are "non-poisonous", but too bitter to be edible, and really rare are poisonous boletus, but the poison decomposes after min 20 minutes of cooking and you can recognise them that they turn blue when you ie cut them half). When I came to New Zealand, I was actually quite surprised as mushrooming is not a thing here - in Central Europe, I thing everybody has been for mushroom to the forest many times in his life, and button mushrooms from the supermarket are considered as something 2nd grade...
