On the subject of honey recipes ... My wife makes milk kefir and we like it real tart, but for flavorings we love honey ginger marmalade or honey cinnamon 😍😍😍

I am with you about many folks in beekeeping. Roasting is good ! My pet peeve is those who use foundationless frames and horizontal hives . Bees in the wild choose cavities so the can build in vertical up and down , yet they will build horizontally when there’s no other choice . Horizontal hives seem to go against what scientific bee books explains how a colony prefers to manage their colony food/brood . Top bar hives with no foundation or wooden sidebars to me is a waste of time . You can’t use those type hives in traditional equipment and honey production. I also don’t believe in doing three frame splits. I won’t go less than five frame splits. As you may have seen is that I follow your UA-cam videos all the time. Next spring I will try my hands at raising just a few queens from my strongest colonies. The fellow I bought my first five frame nucs from claims he never treats his bees for mites. I don’t believe one can avoid it . He also claims he lost ten hives this summer due to wax moths but when I told him that was bogus and said the colonies became so weak they couldn’t fend off the pest and probably mites caused it . He acted like he didn’t want to hear that. I am treating my colonies with Apivar and will remove those strips on December 13th 2020 . I’m also getting the colonies to pack the whole top box with nectar/sugar syrup. I do use quilt boxes which seems to make a huge difference in the colonies overall health . I use cedar chips inside the quilt boxes. Red cedar repels certain pests possibly mites too . Keep those videos coming.

21:40 Watermelon farms in general are bad for bees. Those farmers uses a ton/cocktail of pesticides. There are already 4 apiaries in my area who've died out and all of them are near watermelon farms.

Mr. Reynolds I have a question and if you can answer it quickly it would help. Is it possible to have a hive so strong the bees just don’t cluster? I have a hive that is so strong and packed that the bees are not clustering. (Or so it seems). I wanted to split this colony but it was just too late in the season. They’ve already consumed one sugar board maybe 2, I’ll find out Saturday when it warms up. My other hives have already clustered. Especially my Caucasians. But this one hive is just insane and aggressive too. Your thoughts?
