    99% of these products just make me think what an absolute worthless production of plastic and pointless land fill material.

    • @1234tombaker
      @1234tombaker 5 років тому

      Why just plastic? It's a cheap, easy and low production energy material. Consider all the metal and glass. The whole lot.

    • @Dockhead
      @Dockhead 5 років тому +10

      @@1234tombaker but its not, because even when plastic degrades it doesn't disappear or decay into anything else, it just turns into micro particles of plastic, which then just dilutes either into the earth or whatever toxic landfull pit its ended up in and makes it worse tbh, as the land around it then becomes infected etc, glass its relatively inert as a material very actually well depending on what glass we are talking about.
      metal is just as a big of problem but metal wasnt the main component so i went for plastic.
      ofcourse its a grass is greener for another example but plastic very much just is a problem for how pointless some items are int reality and that is why plastic is used for such things since its so easy to produce from oil or even the cock hard corn polymer that people bang on about as a miracle which in essence is still exactly plastic and takes much more in costs for it to be recycled compared to conventional petroleum based plastics.
      i do get your point on energy requirements for such material but still i cant see silica sand being bad for the environment more so than re-utilising petroleum.
      so save the earth or pay less for everything? you cant have 2 in my opinion.

    • @1234tombaker
      @1234tombaker 5 років тому

      @@Dockhead As you said neither do metal or glass, and they're not without additives or chemicals either. If you were to choose the greenest material for an product with respect to climate change (imo the bigger/biggest problem) it would be plastic.
      Ai wholeheartedly agree by the way that there is too much shit-consumer goods being produced just for some fast cash. Absolute worthless items and so called 'gifts' that need-not be made.
      Look up "How the scramble for sand is destroying the Mekong" as sand for glass is not without massive ecological problems.
      I am still in the plastics will help save the Earth camp, but firmly in the reducing waste and improving the waste infrastructure camp also. People will always throw litter on the floor and so on, so why not opt for litter that has the smallest effect on climate change, and try to recapture it before it's lost into the wider environment.

    • @AK-jb4oi
      @AK-jb4oi 5 років тому +2

      @@1234tombaker plastic is literally the environmentally worst of all of them, it's just cheap

    • @1234tombaker
      @1234tombaker 5 років тому +2

      @@AK-jb4oiincorrect, as the other reply tried to state that glass is inert well so is plastic. Tell me another material that can hold everything from acid to bleach, ketchup to sanitiser, sandwiches to sewage and that apparently isn't 'relatively inert' as the other commenter asserts.
      Plastic has an awful waste capture, management, and recycling issue along with a poor cultural history linked to single-use culture. If we can shift to overall reduction and a reusable recyclable one around plastic and ALL materials we can lower our footprint significantly.
