Hi Terrance, Another High School Teacher here! About your mounting options... in order to keep it sleek i would make a floating canopy out of 3 or 4" wide 3/4" hardwood. I would use pocket screws on the inside to hold it together followed by a few cross braces. The cross braces would give you something to mount the kessils and reefbrites on. Another option would be to use 2 reefbrites or 4 reefbrites and the mounting brackets from aquatic life to rest in-between the kessils. BRS is using the aquatic life endplates but honestly you can just buy some 1/4" thick aluminum from a hardware store and make your own endcaps.
I did something similar because of the BRS series. I went with the Orphek OR3 blue plus strips. I noticed the same thing just so much more colors I was not showing before. The coral responded so quick. I wanted BRD to test the Orphek strips cuz they are different than the reef bites. They sd something was in the works but have not seen it yet. Check out the Orphek if you have not already
I definitely want to do something like this. I was thinking maybe one of these Hydroponix stores. I was looking online at hydrobuilders nanolux modular system. I 'm not sure if they have a configuration for 60". I was also looking at lighting suppliers and fabricators but haven't seen anything that fits yet. I would say you could just get a fixture hood and use self tappers like you did but it might look kinda sketchy doing that for the whole fixture.
Look into 80/20 aluminum strut on Amazon, stuff is light and rigid, all types of brackets etc, drillable also , I used it to mount xr15 to it, get creative!!
Glad you posted this, I was wanting to add these to my Hydra 26 on my 60 cube. That’s a awesome look with just the Kessils and Reefbrites.

I just added 2 lumi lites to my kessils just to help with some shadowing, the pop is great too!
Great video 👍
