I think the valve may have been working fine, but I didn't want the rattly piece anyway with broken parts in it. And I also learned that D/S changeover on DSG stick does not change the flaps. I always thought it did, cuz the idle goes up and it sounds louder.
Yeah, I couldn't tell any difference in operation... but the rattling noise woul drive me crazy too..
@@GTI_CHHA ya, it was still functional i suppose. the biggest thing was i learned the D/S thing.
Your video helped me understand and solve my issue on my c63s . Thank youuuuuu 😢
sick bro.. what that thing to 0-60?
Great video. I watch on an 85" display so the 4k is much appreciated, looks great 👍
oh ya? someone actually noticed? sweet. the uploads arent much longer honestly. and the big video coming today will be filmed in 4k too. (see instagram)
and you honestly see a difference? my damn issue is my high end monitors are one step below 4k.. so i never get to experience my own videos.. you just reminded me i can try my 65" 4K TV!
Crazy good plastic to stand up to that heat
hard as hell
Hello, I have to replace one of them too. Do you have any tips to align the spring with the valve notch? Did you forced the rotor a bit? Thanks man
just to make sure your car is in "D" mode and not S mode, and preferrably NOT dynamic drive mode. The actuators should lock in pretty close to the slot in that case. i wouldnt buy used tho.. i hjave bpought some and used ones are old and brittle.. i even have a cracked one on my car right now.
My rs3 I'm sure it has a problem with the valves, suddently one day I started up and the car had a strange different sound, like something was cutting the sound of it, I was in the highway I accelerated and pass 3500 rpm the valves didnt open even at 5000 rpm, so the valvel motor must be dead maybe? I need to change like you did?
you have to test with it disconnected from the pipe, but still plugged in. then you can see if its turning
@@LastHumansGarage But if I disconnect it from the pipe, I need to test it manually?
Did you have a code from this because this might be my problem I have a p14ac code
nope, a code would indicate a software problem. mine was a hardware problem.
@@LastHumansGarage weird. What do you mean software problem. I google the code I have and it says exhaust valve
@@SIMPLB9 the valve might be stuck.. so it isnt alllowing your motor to turn.. easy way to check.. take off the motor with 3 nuts and see if the valve flap in your exhaust moves back and forth. its easy to turn with your fingers.
Are u sure D/S doesnt operate valves? Everytime i switch i hear a loud squeek coming from my left valve. I was thinking it might be the actuator.
bro... ive heard so many stories now i dont know what to believe anymore.. for 2 years i said D/S changes exhaust.. then one person said it doesnt.. it just raises idle which makes it sound louder.. i think i may have been right in the first place. IF you are in dynamic mode that is... cuz it starts in D mode by default if you start the car in dynamic.. then doing to S finishes up the dynamic mode, which is the engine settings.. which includes the flaps...
now if you are in Comfort or Normal... i say the D/S does NOT change the flaps...
@@LastHumansGarage agreed, i think D/S does change it. Dont see why my valves would be squeeking if it didnt effect them.
@@WhosUra thanks dude, you helped me think it out. you have to be right..
Look at those beautiful Michs. ....
wait till you see them spinning in slow mo.
Looks like the valves only open and close when changing the drive modes (comfort, normal, dynamic), not when changing from D to S transmission modes.
I was gonna say no way.. but you have me think8ng. I mean I always thought the sound change in D/S was the flaps..
@@LastHumansGarage you could consider how the flaps work in a Golf R with the manual transmission. Since there’s no “S” it would have to rely on the drive mode instead
holy shit.. so all this time.. i was wrong about D/S mode in shifter.. wow.. this video was more important than i thought then.
so the sound change is the just the idle going up 300rpm when you change from D to S. (and other things internal probably)
Ah dang I had a pair of used valve motors off my 18 S3, could have sold ya both for the price of one.
ah dang, ya i'd pay have price for used ones.. i guess i dont really need one now tho.
for 1/3 the price of new.. i'd prob buy them.. ; )
What's the part number?
in the description. but its 4H0-133-246-J Adjust Motor $169.32
