The Witcher 3 Next Gen | Linux vs Windows | 1440p | RX 6700 XT + Ryzen 7 5800x

- Hello everyone, welcome to my channel.
in today's video, I am benchmarking The Witcher 3 Next-gen update on Linux Mint 21 and Windows 11 at the yltra+ setting at 1440p. The game runs identically on dx11, with hairworks off. I picked DX11 because no RT or FSR has been used, also DX12 is unreasonably CPU limited.

Pretty wild how far we've come. I like seeing results like this. Hopefully, the future of Linux gaming is even more prosperous.
Amazing work as always BT... Thanks for the effort you put on your videos.
Thank you
Super impressive numbers for DXVK and the Linux graphic stack here 👍
The game runs the same as it does on Windows except for the minor stutter and a little longer load times because of shader cache. Because I have HDD.
Thank you for the video, I hoped it would include dx12 in the comparison.
Dx12 is much worse. Like 60fps 1%lows
@Bero Tech: Great job. Keep these videos coming. Question though... what made you switch from using Nobara to Linux Mint 21?
Thank you.
I always try different distros. No specific reason
Thank you!
Is in line with my observations (prior to the next gen update) with nvidia.
Performance is roughly the same as in windows.
Great video 👍
Thank you
Wonderful. Will there be VKD3D (2.8.0) vs DX12 comparison (without RT)?
Well, on dx12 the 1% is 66fps, so there is a massive hit
@@beronori even after Valve hotfix ?
that frametime smoothness... Wayland or X11?
Thanks for this video.
I don't understand. My game ran perfectly at max settings better than Windows prior to the next gen update, and now it runs way worse even when running at the same graphics settings or lower. I would rather just use the old version of the game. How do you switch between DX12 and DXVK? I don't even know which of the two my game is running with or how to tell. I'm running the GOG version through the Heroic Games Launcher on Manjaro. It's much better than it was, since when the update came out I couldn't even load into gameplay without a crash. But it's still significantly worse than before. I can't find much documentation online for switching between DX12 and DXVK.
dx12 run way worse than dx11 on windows i saw on 4090 its 50% slower same setting....on amd it's better but dx11 its still way faster on witcher 3...im assuming he using dx11 version because of that
I have a GOG edition of w3, will it run on Linux without any EAC or something problems ?
Did you do something extra to enable Resizeble BAR?
If I enable 4g decoding on BIOS, I get better FPS if the is GPU bound, but if the game is CPU bound it tanks the performance by a lot.
5600X / 6800XT
No I didn’t. I always have it enabled
Some bios versions may have rebar not working properly, i had enabling it causing performance loss but updating to latest bios on my asus prime x370 pro fixed it.
are you using dx12? because run much worse
@@razoo911 The problem was happening with Uncharted. Looks like some games don't work well with Resizable BAR.
To solve this issue I have to set VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv.
I made a video comparing:

Hi, Can you give us your 3 favorite distros at the moment after all this years of testing and bench ?
Hi.
Nobara
Linux Mint
Solus
Thx i like Mint too,
another question on mint you use steam flatpack or .deb ? @@beronori
deb
Bero, what your opinion about Arch?
Does the job 😀
I used to use it, but something always broke after some time and I got tired of fixing it.
Wait performance looks same to me
this game with VKbasalt can be great graphics
How do you mean?
@@beronori i remember it has a sub-menu in Goverlay, you have to have it installed to have the sub-menu enabled. I never played with it, so i don't know how much difference it makes
@@beronori vkbasalt is basically linux version of Reshade
Nobara gnome or kde?
Why u changed Nobara Project to Ubuntu?
I like to test different distros
@@beronori i see. Try Clear Linux OS once
@@beronori Tried CachyOS?
@@beronori How about to test CS2? For example compare Linux and Windows performance. CS2 has vulkan support using -vulkan. For online testing u can connect to cybershock servers
Wait we can play this on Linux!? How?
ru living under a rock bro 🤣
@@saurabhdey4014 please read the question again my brother
@@AnkitYadav-nr4cy Wait you've never heard of Proton ?
Steam games are the easiest to play on Linux..... Just enable Proton in Steam settings.... Other games you will need a Lutris or Heroic Games Launcher, it takes a little more work but still doable .... The only ones you can't play are some Online Multiplayers that use Anticheat, like PUBG
Distro?
Linux mint
I finnaly deleted my windows partition and installed nobara. I have ryzen 7800x3d and rx7900 xtx. Linux give more fps (from 5 to sometimes 40fps more!) in 99% of games i tried. Im a linux whore now.
такой себе показатель. Взяли игрушку которая точится под линукс. Сравните другие игры
Overrated fake rpg with one of the worst gameplay ever made, a shallow open world where you can steal from the npcs without reactions/consequences, terrible AI that isn't even capable of path finding, horrible combat, meh writing, garbage 🤢🤮💩
I tried to play it, but I come to the same conclusions.
