Many thanks for the review of the A28. The high cri is much nicer tint imho, I have that nichia 219c in both A29 and A23 Pro. I was thinking of getting the gen 1 but I think gen 2 is the better choice as it has a larger capacity battery and easily removable pocket clip. 👍😋
What's the biggest difference for me it's the lack of moonlight mode in Gen1. I don't really need the 2 separate buttons, but they do make the UI a bit simpler. And I don't really use the pocket clip. it's thicker now, due to the magnet. thanks for watching! and yes, get the High CRI pls..
The E8 is A little too heavy for a ballcap if you carry a triple A battery in it for my liking. Plus, it’s a little harder to adjust on the fly unless you remove it which kind of defeats the whole purpose. I much sooner prefer the Olight i5r with the one power button on the tail of the flashlight being able to access 2 modes quite easily while still attached on my ballcap for my work (nightshift). It’s a little lighter. I don’t even notice it. I have both since I also have an Angel Eyes E8 as well. I keep mine on my personal vehicle keychain as a backup. Plus, if you actually do the testing, the Olight i5r is far more waterproof than than the E8 and a reviewer has proved as much. I wouldn’t want to risk it by carrying it on my ballcap in a flash downpour or I’d probably be drying it out at the end of my shift. That’s called REAL WORLD testing!
Hi, I use the standard 6*1.5 size, but since there's not really a dedicated slot for it, you can probably use different size too. And with glow tubes, you can just cut them if needed. I had some old stock that I bought from nealsgadget and lumintop. Here's a pic showing both: instagram.com/p/CmDfur5vugD/ thanks for watching!
with the current tritium price, I only put them in timascus 😬 these are glowtubes instead (plus I thought it makes sense since they're next to uv led) but same idea, I used UV glue (I think it's the most recommended way, since it is clear). I know some ppl use clear nail polish, a bit more messy I would imagine 😅 Thanks for watching!
Hm, you meant the side leds? I will check, but I think the battery is separate. www.rovyvon.com/products/aurora-a28-g2-extra-battery-pack-bundle Thanks for watching 🍻
Thanks, it's just a regular snake knot, with 2 colors. Lookup "paracord snake knot 2 colors" in youtube, there's plenty tutorial already. And it's just generic a no name/brand titanium bead I got from AliExpress. Thanks for watching!
Very nice review! Ordered two of them after watching. One of them suddenly stopped working, Rovyvon is sending me a replacement battery to check if thats the problem, but there is no tutorial anywhere about how to disconnect and swap the battery. Any tips/guides? Thanks again for the review!
Thanks Robin, it's very nice of them. I did open them to install a GITD tube, but I didn't pay attention to the battery, so I'm not sure. Maybe you can try asking them. At least this model is very easy to open (I tore my A8 button when trying to open it). Good luck on the swap, and thanks for watching and for the kind words.
Great video. BIGGEST COMPLAINT on this brand is the UI. Why? Try tossing this flashlight to someone who has never heard of it never seen it and just wants to turn light on. Tough to operate. If it is locked out, if it turns on flashing, etc, In fact, a flashlight UI should be intuitive enough where your brain doesn’t need to think or you need a cheat sheet to operate.
Yeah, I agree this is not for everyone. And they are not consistent, probably because there are so many modes, leds, and they're still trying to figure out the best ui. They did keep improving tho. the latest ones have a nicer ui (imo), when compared to previous versions. I just happen to use a lot of different ui and already accustomed to them. thanks for watching.
Allot of customers are complaining about the new firmware which is being used with the a28 Gen2, did you face any issues ? Do you think its less practical ?
Is there any specific part of the firmware that you don't like? If you meant less practical = complicated, then yes, it is quite complicated, with 4 different leds/outputs and 2 buttons there's no really a simple way to do it. Certainly not for everyone (not a simple on off). If you don't mind that, then it should be ok. (I'm used to other UIs as well) I myself don't really mind, and I think it's the one closest to my preference for this type of device. Although I think dual button is not necessary (and I also think the previous 1 button design is cleaner). This is my fave from them so far. although they also upgraded the E8 to have 3 different led instead of 3 (more versatile). Down to your preference, in shape/form factor, and the dual-fuel/battery types. Thanks for watching,
I just got mine last week and it's been pretty much my main EDC light. Only issues I have are sometimes the buttons get stuck under the metal button surround and I can't unclick them And the pocket clip. Don't get me wrong I love the magnet in the pocket clip, makes the light far more utilitarian in functionality but it also makes the clip harder to reopen to put it back into my pocket because the clip is magnetized to itself so that just makes it incredibly difficult to put back into my pocket one handed Other than that the light is a near perfect 9.5/10 from me. Perfect for spring/autumn EDC, lightweight but still very capable
right? so versatile, and portable, not to mention good looking ;) hm, don't have to button stuck issue so far. I knew someone would love /can take advantage of the magnet in the clip. I noticed that too, that the clip is "stucked" to itself. maybe try to use the other direction (since it's dual direction). Thanks for watching.. 🍻🔦
it's a preference really. you lose some output (not much/noticeable), but gain a "better" light quality, at least for me. it's almost soothing. And in my test, you will feel the difference in quality much more than the difference in brightness. Thanks for watching!
User name checks out 😁 It's probably too small for you 🤭 But there's a shortcut to Turbo, albeit momentary only, by pressing and holding button 2. Thanks for watching 🍻
The more reviews of torches I see, the more I am convinced no reviewer has ever had cause to use one. Just for note: Dressing up a torch in a pretty lanyard and adding it to various other edc toys is not the same as using it.
not quite sure what you mean, but I usually add lanyard to smaller ones, to make it easier to hold (since they are so small & short). and I use most of them, everyday, in rotation. thanks for watching.
@@urbandadcarry Carrying something, however regularly, is not the same as actually using it. What do you use these torches for? I carry a torch and a lantern. I only carry these to help effect any repair I may need to make to my bike during the dark days of Winter. The torch is to see in detail what's wrong and the lantern is to provide enough light to carry out any repair, whilst keeping both hands free. These are used very rarely. This is why one of my key criteria is weight. You talk of these torches in such a connected way as though they are in daily use. I have never known anyone to use a torch on a daily basis and am curious. Finally pardon my comment about lanyards [I know Americans love them]. If something isn't secure when holding it then the user is a big sissy - sorry, lanyards are on par with having your name sewn into your jacket, by Mumsie....

Thank you too for watching, Glad it's helpful (:
the new clip allows it to be fixed to the brim of a cap unlike the old one. Thumbs up for this model
