As many of you already noticed, the aircraft was not welcomed with a water salute. There is a simple reason behind this: Europe is currently experiencing it's driest summer on record and therefore it was decided not to do a water salute in order to save water.
Europe is also lacking a huge amount of fuel and is having a real price explosion due to the war in Ukraine... nevertheless the plane took an extra round - measured with double standards, as always.
Europe has currently no fuel shortage, just a gas shortage. Yes, fuel prices are relatively high but if Lufthansa is ready to pay for that why not?
And I fully understand the decision by Frankfurt Airport not to waste any water while many firemen and women throughout Europe are fighting forest fires and farmers are desperately trying to water their fields.

Most beautiful airplane
With the tail design and the logo on the nose it really has a close resemblance to Qantas‘ 787, just that it’s Blue. Of course that’s nothing new, but here the similarities are striking!

Thanks a lot buddy! We had the chance of walking around the aircraft after landing, all the gear was super clean and the gearbay was just pale grey, no grease or oil, just super shiny. I've never seen that before :D ~ Ole ✈
@Hao I know. This new livery is absolutely sub par! The old one with the yellow was just so much better. It felt like you were traveling on a global airline. With the yellow gone, it feels like something's missing.
@@v.t.264 not really, the new livery makes every LH plane look so much more elegant and smooth, especially on 747 or on the 380s, which hopefully are on their way back into the fleet.

@@curseknz So far nothing is certain that they will be phased out and rather the A340-300. They're getting the A380 back, so Lufthansa needs more planes.

I love the livery on the 787, somehow fits Boeing aircraft way better than Airbus aircraft. Really like it on the 77F and 747 as well. Dont really like how A340/350/380 look like

Ich war heute morgen etwas sad, weil ich keine Zeit hatte um dieses Ereignis auf Video festzuhalten. Aber jetzt bin ich froh, dass so gute Filmer wie ihr dort waren. Ich hatte schon befürchtet nur Fotos zu sehen, weil ja kaum jemand in der lage ist zu Filmen. Und FRAproductions ist aktuell auch nicht in Deutschland, somit dürftet ihr die einzigen guten Filmaufnahmen von dem heutigen Ereignis haben. Die Aufnahmen sind in auf jeden Fall äußerst gut gelungen!
Vielen Dank für die netten Worte! Wir wussten gar nicht, dass FRAproductions nicht vor Ort war. Aber ich bin ganz ehrlich, ohne die Einladung aufs Vorfeld wären wir auch nicht gekommen. Beim Affenfelsen sieht man nicht viel vom Approach und überall sonst hat man um die Uhrzeit schon Unmengen an flimmern. ~ Ole ✈

This is the first 787-9 airplane for Lufthansa, and it looks stunning!! I'm sure this will be a wonderful airplane to fly on when it enters service. Now we can see Lufthansa hopefully start getting their 777-9X deliveries going sometime soon. Watch out Airbus, Boeing is coming back!!

Looks beautiful in the Lufthansa colors. Im a bigger fan of the A350 which to my taste looks much more beautiful and I wish Lufthansa would take more of them as they are just as efficient as the B787. But Lufthansa has had a mixed fleet and its logical for them to go for both Boeing and Airbus.

If I was Lufthansa, I’d be going over that machine with a fine tooth comb. 787s don’t have a great record for quality control post delivery.
That was a few years ago. Boeing has since corrected its quality control and FOD issues in South Carolina the past couple of years. No issues since

I remember seeing D-ABEA 737-100 when I started flying with BEA in 1971.
Lufthansa uses D-ABxx for all Boeing aircraft, D-AIxx for all Airbus aircraft and D-AE for all Embraer aircraft

Production of the 747-8: Yes
Lufthansa meanwhile is the only airline in europe with 747. Last delivery of the last 747-8 to Lufthansa was 2015.
The 747-400 will be replaced by the Boeing 777X, the 787 replaces Airbus A340-300. As Lufthansa needs a lot of capacity though, none of both will retire in the near future. ~ Ole ✈

Über fast alles bei Flugzeugen ist ja schon gesprochen worden. Ich hätte aber mal eine Frage, die wohl noch nie geklärt wurde. Die Lucke wo die Lufthansa Fahne rausgehalten wurde, wurde ja bestimmt nicht nur zu diesem Zweck ins Flugzeug integriert. Wofür ist sie denn eigentlich gedacht? Gibt es davon zwei? Für Rettungs Aktionen wäre sie da oben aber an einer recht ungünstigen Stelle wie ich finde.
Almost everything about airplanes has already been discussed. But I have a question that has probably never been answered. The gap where the Lufthansa flag was kept out was certainly not only integrated into the aircraft for this purpose. What is it actually meant for? Are there two of them? For rescue operations it would be up there in a rather unfavorable place in my opinion.
Probably for an Emergency Evacuation?? I don't know but I'd guess that it is supposed to be used as an Emergency Exit for the pilots
Bist auf einem guten Weg :) Die Luke ist tatsächlich der Notausgang des Cockpits. Bei der 747 z.B. an einer ähnlichen Stelle, bei manchen Flugzeugen (z.B. A320/737) lassen sich die Cockpitscheiben öffnen, diese haben die Luke dann nicht. Im Cockpit gibt es ein Seil mit dem sich die Crew dann abseilen kann. Von den Luken gibt es nur eine pro Flugzeug, bei Typen, bei denen sich die Scheiben öffnen lassen, gehen jedoch je eine auf Kapitänsseite und eine auf der Seite des ersten Offiziers auf. ~ Ole ✈

Is it weird to be worried that flag will come loose as FOD and damage the engine just as the plane pulls into the stand? lol
They should give this new planes to Austrian Airlines so they can retire their, what… 35 year old 767-300ER fleet and the older 772/ER !! Sorry only an opinion 🤷♂️

@@spionsilver9626 Wie alles Falsch??? Das sind Fakten. Die Boeing 787 is billiger zum kaufen, und effizienter auch. Das sind Fakten die man nicht einfach als Falsch abstempeln kann. Nur weil du ein 12 Jähriger Airbus fanboy bist heißt es nicht gleich das alles von Boeing schlecht ist. Ja, auch ich mag den A330 zum beispiel, aber die fakten sind halt das Boeing in gewissen gebieten einfach besser ist. Auch das Belüftungssystem der 787 ist besser, da die Luft nicht so trocken ist, was wiederum für den Blutkreislauf fördernd ist. Somit ist es generell nicht falsch zu sagen, das die 787 in vielen aspekten einfach besser ist als der A350. Das ist einfach ein Fakt den man so akzeptieren muss.

@@ironic8340 that right, it is in the same level on the 330. Just more modern and new, and the 350 is which the 777, also just more modern and new. At the end, all of them are amazing. If someone prefer one over the other, is all alright, but lest not offend!

Die neue Business Class wird ab der D-ABPF eingebaut, die Maschine hier war ja mal für eine andere Airline vorgesehen, jedoch hat diese den Flieger nicht abgenommen. Dementsprechend ist auch noch die Hainan Kabine und Business class verbaut, die aber besser ist als die alten Lufthansa Kuschelsitze. Lufthansa lässt diese Kabine drinnen und tauscht lediglich die rot/beigen Sitzbezüge in Blaue, die mehr zur Lufthansa passen.
