Hello 🥰 what great thrift finds! I love the chest, so beautiful. Living in thr States, I would enjoy what a Swedish thrift shop looks like. 😊 Thank you for sharing!
The mothers day plate, have a motive painted by Carl Larsson. He is one of the most famous artist in Sweden and he is represented at the Swedish National museum. He lived in a place called Sundborn Dalarna att Carl Larsson house, very popular for tourist to visit. His wife is famous for her interior design. The children on the plate are theirs.
One of the best things in Sweden, is driving down a country road, and seeing that loppis sign somewhere. You just never know what you’re going to find!!
Yes, of course I want to see more of your thrift shops. I love thifting and me and my husband are now here in Zweden helping our son in his first home. Still a lot of work we have to do, but I hope we will also find time for thrifting. 😀
Oh my goodness! So many wonderful finds! My favorite is definitely the chest, what a bargain! I would love to find one of those here in the US, although I know I would have to pay at least $500 for it. I also love the cast iron pancake pan and the plate. The picture is by Carl Larson and I love his paintings, I have several prints hanging in my house. Beautiful things you found, thanks for sharing.
The chest is called a bridal chest. A young girl saved things she made from an early age, embroidery and all kind of things she made, until she married and the chest followed her to her new home.
A while?!!! *Ma’am, it’s been TWO YEARS!!* 😳😂 I mean welcome back but _dang._ I hope if you take another hiatus, that you’ll at least consider saying _farewell for now_ or something to that effect.😅 I know life gets busy and all but to tell 16 *thousand* people to like and subscribe only to ditch them for years with no word is WILD.
You are quite right, it’s been over two years! Thank you for being such a dedicated subscriber. I understand your frustration about the lack of updates, and you make a fair point about communication. The truth is, my creative energy and inspiration for making videos gradually faded without me really realizing it was happening. It wasn't a conscious decision to stop posting - it just sort of happened. Looking back, I can see how a heads-up would have been considerate for loyal viewers like yourself. I appreciate you sticking around, and I'm grateful for your honesty in sharing.
I will have a look, I did film something when I was here in September, so I might see if I can edit that. The conservatory looks very dead and sad right now!
My son and his family have lived out here since Brexit, so I come as often as I can - but it's probably 4-6 times a year. I'd love to come for longer though!
Not sure where you found that thrift shop becouse I never seen those prices in any of those prices in a swedish store for 15 years. Some stuff is cheap becouse nobody want it.
The Cottage is between Gothenburg and Stockholm, and all the local thrift shops are these kind of prices. But you were right, it’s probable that Swedish people don’t want it but I love it all the vintage stuff you can find!
Sweden have a lot of second hand stores everywhere. We are a lot about climat changes and recycling and avoid overconsuming. There are usually all kinds of store. Some are more like fleamarket others are non profit organization you can give your old stuff too and they sell it and send money or other things forward to people in need. And there is also stores that are like a normal store where they pick out special things that sell, or branded clothes, well there is more but over all we really don't want to just throw stuff away unless it is reaö garbage noone need or want.
Hi! That pan is a "plättlagg", especially for plättar (mini pancakes). Swedish pancakes and plättar are thin, like crêpes.
Yes, it took some clever googling to find out what it was! And I even found a gluten free recipe to try out with it!

I should’ve realised this, as it’s one of my daughter’s favourite Swedish painters! I can’t believe I got it for such a bargain price 😀
The Loppis is brilliant! I have had some wonderful bargains myself. Blankets, books, all sorts!

Hi again :) Thanks.. How often do you come to live there, in your coattage?
My son and his family have lived out here since Brexit, so I come as often as I can - but it's probably 4-6 times a year. I'd love to come for longer though!
Thrifts shops are expensive here in Sweden.
For some reason, they don’t seem to be in this area, which makes me very happy!
The mother days plaid is not for eating it’s for hanging on the wall
Yes, it has a special hanger on the back

@JenniferCarterWriter swedish people love vintage stuff. But it's vintage stuff anf there is vintage stuff.
wow, they have some really odd thrift items over there.
Or maybe it's what I chose to purchase, I really love all the vintage stuff they have in Sweden!

@uniquename111 I'm a huge fan of Swedish second hand stores - the prices I've seen here are much cheaper than in similar stores in the UK!
