So, it's entirely plausible that they argued with Nintendo regarding the health and safety violation(s), as opposed to trying to work with Nintendo? Of course, all assuming that Nintendo raised justifiable concerns.
Definitely agree. I think people are writing off Technicals' stunt as a potential factor because they don't want to grant legitimacy to his influence by allowing themselves to ponder, even for a moment, if he really played a role in Nintendo's decision after all.
The reality is that it's basically impossible for Technicals to have not been a factor in this situation, much as people don't want to admit it. Technicals videos gets hundreds of thousands of views literally, but even if we write off the possibility of a Nintendo rep having seen his content, objectively speaking there is no damn shot Nintendo (after explicitly telling VGBC they were looking at their events closely for a potential partnership) watched Grand Finals and saw a banned individual running up during the height of viewership and hold up an extremely provocative and (some might say) political sign referencing a controversial player Nintendo themselves is highly aware about right in front of the camera and then said "yeah we definitely want to partner with these TOs". Even if you assume Nintendo hates Technicals and views him as a delinquent, which isn't even known for sure, those facts alone are absolutely vital to their decision to partner with VGBC or not. These issues are exacerbated when you consider their direct response to Technicals, completely unfiltered by any sort of PR, which only went on to shine more light on the fact that they were doing nothing to stop Nairo from restreaming events, and if you assume Nintendo caught wind of the lack of security and saw the pretty blatant affiliation VGBC had with Nairo, it gets even worse on top of all the already undeniable nonsense.
Then of course, you have top players coughing up blood on stage, not wearing masks when they're clearly ill and this being allowed by VGBC, and then events like Wavedash 2022, brought to us by VGBC, where Hbox just chucked a whole ass fucking chair on mainstage after winning the tournament with no fallout or punishment afterwards (seriously wtf, Hbox should 100% have been banned for that and anyone who says otherwise is blinded by top player bias undeniably). To say there is no reason to question the safety and responsibility of VGBC events is laughable, and people like Moist Critical did not do themselves any favours by trying to say "VGBC is one of the most well respected TO's in the community so this health and safety concern is definitely just PR speak".
Long story short the smash community is huffing copium, and as always, bending the knee to whatever their favourite content creator or smash personality says about the situation because this game is for kids and it's competitive community certainly has the mental capacity of that age group - maybe that's why they can't keep their fucking hands off them.
This is legit a good take, and definitely one people are ignoring.
People are getting lost in the forest of statements and forgetting the tree right in front of them of what Nintendo said.
Hopefully more people watch this and realize it might just be as simple as what Nintendo said.

During this entire storm of info coming out I saw Technicals tweet say “wonder why you guys aren’t getting a license due to health and safe” and he basically explained the same thing your doing and I feel like that is the whole reason why they didn’t get a license. If Nintendo learned that the smash scene is trying to protect people from doing inappropriate things with kids and Nintendo is know as a kids/teen video game brand then MAYBE they don’t wanna get involved with something like that or wanna continue with.
Also it’s sad that you feel that you need to leave the scene because of whether or not someone who had *** with a kid should be banned. I love this game to death and spent 4 years of my life playing this game. Practicing, Learning, Improving to become what I would think could be the best I could do. This game has changed me for the better and I truly thought that maybe I could play semi competitively for a little while but now I don’t know anymore. I want to keep play this game because there isn’t anything like it and some characters in this game just can’t be replicated even in other platform fighters but if the scene doesn’t feel that it is important to remove those who are A know to be harmful and B have a double standard were some people are held accountable but others aren’t and only change your mind based off of what’s the popular trend then why would someone stay in this community.
Sorry if this was very ramblly, I do that a lot but in short hope you find success outside of this scene and that you do well in whatever you decide to do.

The main TO in my local scene supported Nairo and had #UnbanNairo in his bio. Doesn't mean he's a bad person, but it discouraged me from starting my commentating hobby this summer (which i still did)
I thought Nairo was innocent. Are you basing this on Technicals? Technicals is a liar. He went from debunking allegations when it was unpopular to blindly condemning Nairo when people supported him because they believe he was not a perpetrator. Actually, I guess you are doing this based on TheFranchise, which is also completely misrepresenting the situation and is a channel that is mostly lies.
