  • A has-been rock star hosts horror films in his haunted mansion. Guest: actress Barbara Crampton from the movie “Reanimator.” Movie: 1973’s “Messiah Of Evil.” Repeat.
    Episode 02-76 Original Airdate: 06-02-2018
    About our episode reissues:
The early episodes of Creature Features on UA-cam were merely low-res uploads of our original Northbay TV broadcast feed. With commercial adverts, station IDs, etc. all embedded in the same video. When we re-upload these old episodes, we first remove all of the old adverts, make some color and picture corrections where we can and then put them back up on UA-cam in full-resolution 1080p. While we don’t claim them to be “restored”, they are a substantial improvement over the original copy of the episode that was on our channel.

This is the kind of movie that will grow on you over time as you notice more details with repeated viewings. It's not a perfect movie and ends a little bit abruptly (but with a great twist), but there are some excellent, creepy sequences for sure and plenty of memorable imagery and atmosphere.
Thanks for reposting this movie, Creature Features. :)

It's a pretty good horror movie with lots of very scary scenes. The atmosphere in itself is gloomy and ominous. It's an unusual film because it doesn't follow the typical zombie plot; the virus or coming out of the graveyard zombie origins, instead it offers another explanation for the zombie outbreak. It's truly a cult film.

Well said, yeah glad to see her healthy, happy and still working. I liked her in her more recent outing Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich. My favorite film to truly she her in so far though is still From Beyond. Because in that she has a lead role and knocks out of the park.
It was a smaller role for her, but You're Next was great (also even a bit better The Guest by the same writer & director). I hope that team finally comes back together they do their best work as team. And hopefully when they do ''they're coming to get you Barbara'' for another role.

All true and on top of that she was great with a lead role in From Beyond the follow up to Re-Animator. For me it's really just about as good. I'd like to see her in more substantial roles like that, but I'm not sure how many others she got. She was and is a cut above the average final girl/scream queen.
Someone mentioned Dawn of The Dead in another comment, Ken Foree from that was also excellent in From Beyond. He should've had more big roles, never understood that. He was a great leading man for horror (and perhaps other genres too).

The other might be Gargoyles from 1972, with Cornel Wilde, and the gargoyles did look demonic. This was a terrible movie; I would have switched-off except that I enjoyed the Barbara Crampton interview. The ending of this film was the best part; reminded me of "City of Angels".

Too many interruptions, guys. It impedes the flow of the film. I appreciate your concept of an intermission, but you don't need so many caesuras or breaks in a film, even if you were able to interview the star of the film. Kudos to you on that feat but please, in the future, cut down on the pause...

The cast, crew and all of the other good people who work so hard to consistently create these interruptions each and every week truly appreciate that you've taken the time to watch our variation of this film. We know there are many other ways to watch this same movie on UA-cam, with or without interruptions like ours, but we are most grateful that you chose to watch our version, with our interruptions and were candid enough to inform us about our oversight on the quantity of said interruptions.

All you have to do is skip to the next segment of the movie, it's not 1972, and this is UA-cam...That is if you don't want to watch their interludes. Myself, I find them to be a nice break, the characters are humorous, they have a good energy between them, and it does bring me back in time when this company showed movies in the seventies and eighties on t.v., nostalgic.

@@LaoZi2023 Thank you for apprising me of the obvious. Do I address you as "Captain Obvious"? The fact remains, Captain, that in that particular film presentation there are just TOO MANY breaks...impedes the continuity of the narrative....

Even though I'm still interested in seeing the film again, I decided to skip thru the film itself (and watch it by itself later on) just to see the interview clips with Barbara. I didn't know they even did that on this channel (still kinda new to me). I've been a fan of hers like many since From Beyond & Re-Animator. I'm glad she's gotten those more recent roles and hope it continues. She was fun and lively in this episode, gonna have to check and see if she came back : )
So I've only seen the film once so far and I think I'd have to have seen a film several times and perhaps not too far back with the most recent one before I'd watch it like this. But perhaps I'm in a minority on this. Yeah even with Joe Bob Briggs (who's pretty entertaining and funny) I feel the same way.
Regardless I appreciate them making these films available, especially some of the ones that (unlike this one currently) aren't as easy to find. So thank you for that and the time and effort you put into your production values. It's kinda Tales From Crypt meets Addams Family and The Munsters.
